Written up a while back, but everything still applies, though with so many great detailing products out there I'm sure people can achieve a much better after-finish. Also, maybe a fishing line instead of floss to "cut" the badge out would be easier.

If I had an R badge behind mine, I would think twice too!

Have done this to so many of my previous cars. A few things I've found:

- With enough hair-dryer action I've never had to use fishing line or floss to get the badges off.
- Use a cotton cloth, not a T-Shirt, it helps to get the gunk off.
- Using WD40, a lot of it, again and again with the cloth works a treat in getting the sticky stuff off if you have no Goo-Off. Bug and Tar remover works a treat too and is safe on paint.
- As above. Meguiars Scratch-X when it's all done works a treat.

Even better, I got the dealer to do mine and told them I wouldn't be accepting my car unless it wasn't already debadged. Risked them stuffing it up, but at least they promised to fix it if anything went wrong with it.

I've taken the rear R32 badge off so that waxing and general maintenance is a lot easier (I use a lot less cotton bud tips now).

You could probably also spray the badge with a bit of quick detailer before applying the fishing line/floss for some lubrication.

If I could really be bothered and had spare $$, I would love the shaved look, sides and boot latch delete...

Agreed....It is a very hot example ! He has pulled off it nicely.....Can't say I have seen many Helios around, a matte black would of looked sexy

dustinwark's hot example of a shaved CW GTI MKV with one of my favourite OEM VW wheels... Helios.

I have the same sentiments. Wished they released Phaetons here in Australia, then there would have been more of these wheels around Australia!

I do remember having a quote for US$1700 delivered last year, which is not too bad considering current FX... I'll try and find the quote to see who the company was..

Go halves with you John, you rock'em for Summer time and I'll do a Winter wear :)
