I spotted this thread on JDMST and thought it was a great idea for a thread!
Did your parents get you into cars?
I know my Dad was nuts about cars. He often changed cars and he was a bit of a hoon too. Here are a few pictures of him and his cars (I'm in the last few pics too!).
Share your pics, if you can guys and gals. Yes it'll most likely involve raiding your parents photo albums and scanning in a few images, but ahhhhhh the memories. Trust me, it's worth it!
Yup my Dad was super into cars and changed cars a lot too. Here are a few pics of him/his cars:

Ah, brings back memories. Your dad looks like a HK movie star, JF!
Definitely! Mine's really into cars as well. In fact he made sure I know how to wash car and change tyres in my early teens.
He wasn't into moddings though.
Awww look how super cute you were back then!

mad retspec your dad used to own a Karmann Ghia!
My old man definitely got me into cars... he used to work as mechanical engineer for Toyota back in the day, one of his stints was working on toyota sprinter suspension for their rally cars... subsequently up until 1998 all we ever owned were toyotas of some sort. Although now I'm heavily entrenched in team Nissan, he doesn't fail to rub in the fact that his JZX100 chaser is just as capable and more comfortable than my skylines.
If you see a old curry dude in Chatswood driving a Chaser give my old man a wave :D

Hey I'm still super cute!!!
I forgot to mention. My Mum is super into cars too. She had a mini in her day and today she still can't help herself when she sees little die-cast minis for sale in shops (she has a little collection in her office!). She currently drives an SLK and she loves it soooo much.
awesome photos JF! your dad looked like one cool cat back in the day
my dad didnt get me into cars, i got him into them instead. he did get me into architectures
Nice one JF, sweet collection of cars your dad had. much 4 cylinder love.
Neither of my folks got me into cars, they are very slow/careful drivers.
Like Mark, my old man got me into my profession now, Geology.

Your dad looked like a male model! Amazing series of cars too, kinda makes me wanna go back to those times just to see what they were all like.
Old man loved his cars, in particular Porsche - he's still a fanboy today. He's had at least ten, I know that for sure. Crashed a few, sold most  His last one was a navy blue 993 Carrera with grey leather interior, I remember laughing with joy every time I looked back and the magic spoiler would rise up on the Autobahn, or telling him to reverse park it in the driveway because I loved the exhaust note :) Apart from that the other highlight would have been a Ferrari 348tb, he told me recently that all the kids from our neighbourhood would come up to him and ask him to drive em around..
I've been into cars for as long as I can remember, so I'm willing to bet that dad's machinery always had something to do with it. When we came to Australia in 2002, we needed all the money we could get to start a business and make things comfortable. With two business ventures failing quite epically, we had almost nothing left and lived through quite a shit time in 2003-04. Mum was driving a newish Vectra and dad even worse, a '94 Barina. Thankfully as the bakery became successful, our situation has stabilised and gone back to positive. His brand new BMW Z4 s30i should have just arrived in the country this week, when he gets back from a 2-week holiday in Argentina it'll be in our hands.
And it's not the twin turbo model, which makes it P-plate legal. :>
Im another that was heavily influenced by my father, his father, and my mum's old boss. My grandfather was a mechanic for ford back in the day, and my dad owned several escorts, from panel vans to a modified rs2000 turbo. He also owned and raced ducatis. I was also influenced by my mum's old boss, he owned a lot of exotic cars from bmw's to mg's, going to his house as always a real highlight. As a child I had the biggest matchbox car collection.. they are all still in storage at my parents place. Motorsport has also been another big factor throughout my life, i have been told i used to sit down glued to the tv watching motorsport instead of cartoons as a young child.
And here we are today i guess.

My dad hates cars. He specially bought a BMW 325 over a 335 because he knew I would have modded it if he got the 335!
He said "Where do you use these powerful cars on our roads?"

no... my dad didn't really get me into cars... he didn't have anything that impressive in his collection. Some of his cars included, honda civic, accord in the mid 90s... saab... porsche 911 (90s as well), mercedes 300E (90s) mercedes 600sel (90s for about 2 weeks before it was stolen), subaru B4, mini cooper S, Porsche Boxter (midlife crisis). At one stage he had 6 cars in the garage... with only 2 people driving it... but even then i think he was just too lazy to sell, instead of actually liking cars... now my mom drives a mini cooper S and he drives a bmw 335i
He has always had the money, but never really spent much on cars.
I think my brother got me into cars... we've always watch formula 1s and he is really into cars, probably have like every single motor magazine every made since the 90s. He just finished his masters in car design... so with him always talking about cars probably got me into cars... but i'm not as big of an enthusiasts as you guys though... i just get bored quickly with different cars.
My DaD did not get me into cars at all. In fact my father would tell me that driving manual over auto was just plain stupid.. However he does enjoy owning nice cars and always has.. My dads brother " big Ang" was always into cars and being a mechanic would get me to help with anything on a car. He raced in his younger years and was very good.. He got me behind the wheel at about 10 and had no dramas with me driving in carparks or open fields ... Ah the memories

My old man got me into cars, I remember as a kid we were always are car yards test driving cars. From as early as I can remember we have always had something new in the garage, both me and my brother love our cars. We have had 15 between us since getting our p's 6 or 7 years ago lol.

sounds like a pretty cool collection to me!

The only thing my papa got me into was guns/hunting and adventure !
I've always a soft spot for cars but never exploited my modding abilities, I blame my wife for planting the seed.

He said "Where do you use these powerful cars on our roads?"
He really does have a point considering how bad Sydney traffic is getting. Last night on Victoria Road a stock looking black MKV TSI with loud doof doof music was giving it some in the lane next to me. I wasn't having any of it. He then spotted a loud Civic up ahead and proceeded to give it some next to the Civic. Swerving from left to right lanes he zoomed off and I lost sight of him but about 4-5 lights down I was right behind him again. You have to wonder, what's the point?!

Dad wasnt big on cars....doesnt get the whole modding thing. Still sees cars as something that takes one from point A to point B...doesnt matter how good/ugly/crap/old/new the car is. As long as it works and gets him there in one piece, then he has no complaints.
Awww look how super cute you were back then!
Yeah what happened!! Haha
