As always Frenchie great shots. Have you figured out what you are doing with the location of the front licence plate now that you have gloss black? A set of full sized euro plates would look great if you care to fit them on!!!

Frenchie
04-03-2010, 10:07 AM
Not a chance am I drilling through that sexy grille..

I have been running no license plates for last 2?months and only just yesterday did I put my plates located bottom right, as I got a warning from friendly Officer Leroy.

What I have done is purchased some velcro strips from Bunnings and looped through license plate holes in each corner.

So now I can easily take plates off for shoots or drivebys :)

I had a look at the carbon vinyl they provide when I was getting the missus' car serviced and the quality is amazing. They use the 3m branded vinyl so im asking him to have a go at my rear valence when i take my car in for service.

Frenchie
04-03-2010, 03:30 PM
Yep that's the stuff - Good enough for its purpose I say.

Don't think I will be using that for my roof though.

Will try and take my R in in the next few weeks.

I agree Frenchie, would look cool but probably would hold up that well and any stains would show up a lot worse on a matte finish. i think normal black film/vinyl would be good on the roof/bonet though.

Oh my! Those little French hands have been busy detailing to a fine finish! Notice that the black on the tyres is just that perfect tone between too shiny and not black enough (especially hard to achieve as you have black wheels). I like the composition of the first shot and the fourth shot with the small red door.

I take it that John went and took the photos with you? Any touch ups via photoshop?

Thanks to everyone for the compliments and most of all John & Tendy - we didn't have much time to shoot but those shots came out crisp !

Pharkus - that was my stage 1 clean - quick and easy ! agreed - tyre shine I use is perfect to my liking. Maybe a touch of editing, best check with John though.

The plastic lip needed a little prep work, namely drilling some holes. Dedy at Top One Automotive kindly lent us his tools as well as jack stands and a jack too (very nice of him as mechanics usually hate lending out tools, let alone people working in their space with their tools!).

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2793/4464210720_5138588f26_o.jpg
Smooth sailing.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2787/4463434037_e700048c4c_o.jpg
The Frenchman gets down and dirty - We jacked the car up on stands which made getting under there a lot easier. We used gaffa tape to hold the lip in place, and masking tape to measure dead centre and once we were happy with it Frenchie secured the lip to the car with the screws provided (the kit came with 4 screws but we ended up using 6).

It might scrape a fair bit as Frenchie's set it up a little more aggressive in sticking it out a little more but since it's plastic it should be a lot more durable that Suga's carbon one (which isn't bad, it's scraped up a lot underneath but not chipping at all).

G.:Rowler
26-03-2010, 05:13 PM
Nice add Frenchie. I was think of going the Carbon lip, but as Justin has pointed out the plastic may be a little more durable if or when I decide to drop the R.

Looks good Frenchie. It makes sense to let the lip stick out rather than flush on the front bumper otherwise you wont see it. If it scrapes and this is inevitable, it will be under the lip so you wont see it at all. Unless you hit one of those car park humps head on.

mmmm looks like some type of Newing generic lip - but bear in mind you will need a R32 specific front lip -
looking at it now I would say not R32 fitment and very expensive for what it is. Stay away.

Correct bought 2 sets of wheels BBS and DPE at the sametime ( brain explosion ) - had DPE wheels custom made and ready to ship but I got stung by customs with my BBS - so decided to cancel order, lost a bit of cash but life goes on.

KW V3 are definitely bad boys. A tad harder ride than the HPA I heard and that is the softer setting on the V3. Let us know what you think Frenchie. And if you decide to sell the HPA SHS kit do let me know but I am not sure if it fits the R36 or not.

Yes firm it will be, but HPA SHS kit will not fit your R36 too soft. From memory speaking to Ross ( Black R36 ) said there are not too many options for suspensions, Pretty sure he is running H&R...Keep you posted and we'll go for a drive once KW's are in..

Lets just say the car is picked ( nothing fancy )
Wheels are picked, just need to put an order through.
H&R bars are ready to go.
Suspension picked

Almost converted on the Capristo Exhaust system, sound and set-up look like it'll satisfy the need this end. Did you opt for the remote s well?

Frenchie

Can't go wrong with Capristo exhaust and yes opted for remote...

Speak to AP as he has a brand new boxed Capristo/remote etc for sale..

Having had the privilege of driving frenchie's R32 with the Capristo on its last day before it was taken off to get sold...I can vouch for it. its a quality exhaust. You cant help but mash the accelerator to hear it. And in a tunnel, forget about it! It's aural heaven to say the least.

Flick a PM to AP if you're serious about getting one. He has a fresh one, never installed, with the remotes. Brand spanking new. Im sure he'd be willing to send it over to WA too :)
