Yah I was just hunting down some pics!!!

I love building bike maybe more than riding them, here's a few:

My 1997 Specialized Hardrock
I found this under my house and decided to bring it back to life.

My 2007 Giant Reign 1
My main bike. If I could only keep one this is the one I'd keep. So confidence inspiring I love riding it.

My 80's Paino Roadie
Lovely bike, such a classic. I only ride this once a year on the Sydney to Gong ride. I've restored everything on it, polished everything, it's all original and the guy who painted the frame in the 80's re-painted it for me!!!

I was never that daring to go proper mountain biking with my old mountain bike. Few rocks and steep downhill riding a couple of times but nothing like you.

Some funky man powered rides in here!
I love the 80s TUFF wheels - a mate had them on his mongoose when I was a kid and I was permanently envious.

Orange Msisle - now running single speed / holzfeller urban cranks, Duke race air forks / thomson post / 24-7 suicide set / wheels and brakes from my AC
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4036/4403034266_576e32f422.jpg

Giant AC 2005 (apparently when they went shit) with a few meaty upgrades.
Marz FR Z1 forks, 4way Swinger, protaper, thomson, saint brakes, MTX wheels blah blah blah
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4006/4402269749_fc66fbb695.jpg

I'm going to be parting out / selling these very soon on farkin (or rotorburn now) as a couple of bouts of spinal surgery mean that riding in any aggro form is out for me :(

So about two years ago I picked up an original Klein Quantum road bike in blue /pink (pre Trek buyout) - it is light as hell and superbly daggy.
The welds are so perfect - meaning you can't actually see them - it looks like the bike is formed from one piece of metal.

I'd like to make an angry, generalised rant about fixies and their riders, but I'm sure some will pop up so I'll bite my tongue. :p

I've always been into biking, but took a break for awhile...

Until i got this bad boy as a graduation present from the folks:
http://www.freeflowbikes.com/ekmps/shops/freeflowbikes/images/colnago-arte-bike-%5B2%5D-7059-p.jpg

I'm lovin it! Although its the cheap range of Colnago's made in Taiwan, its a good entry level bike.

What bike rack do you golf guys use? Recommend any? Sick of taking the front wheel off to fit it in the boot, haha.

Yeah I wont. Its 'only' an aluminium model, but its anodised black so very nice, and rare. i might convert into a full time TT/Triathlon bike, would just need a base bar, bar end shifters and brake levers, already have some nice carbon aerobars. The aluminium is a bit harsh though on our crappy roads, but is perfect on the crit track

No i don't race. Prefer to just go on an enjoyable ride with a few friends.
Once i am out, just lose track of time, and only turn back home when the wife starts ringing to make sure i am still ok :)

You guys must rob banks for a living :).

I bought a entry level Merida to ride in the Mutual Community Tour during the TDU just gone. Put the mountain biking on hold to get the miles in.

I run a Giant NRS2 off road and I have a couple of old MTBs too. A KHS hardtail that needs some TLC and my first dualie, a '96 vintage Gary Fisher Joshua Y. That has Judy's with a 100mm kit and springs. They are a revelation after 14 year old elastomers, it also has a Hope cable disc on the front.

I'll post pictures if anyone's interested??

Got one of these except with Gloss white brake levers and brakes.

Was wicked value at just over $1000, XT MB gearing so you can jump quick from cruising to low ratio and back again, carbon fork, clip-less setup, and the Juicy 3 hydraulic brakes were the icing on the cake.

I love late braking at the bottom of hills and flying past the lizard men on their $8k doctor's orders road bikes. They can't keep up with the bears resting 43 pulse rate.

And I only bought this taillight because it's so similar to the one on the Jetta. Although my car doesn't have an LED daytime light :(

This is my Fav bike Its a Giant DS\2 Prototype downhill bike from around 2000.
some people think its a Warp but its far from a warp, frames alike but thats where it stops, im yet to find someone else with this bike and allmost sold it to my Bro for $400 till I found out how rare it could possibly be..

This is mine, don't think i've posted it in here yet.

2003 Bianchi 928. Sold those wheels and have some more traditional bombproof ones (consisting of: Centaur Hubs, 32 DT Competition Spokes (3 cross spoke pattern), MAVIC Open Pro 32H double eyeleted wheels). Bit heavy but strong.

I dont get the style thesedays with the skinny low seat.. well I do, but when I rode everyone had fat seats just below your knees so it was easy to pinch and do barspins and suicides and stuff now i guess kids just huck and throw em. Ive become a sucker to this trend too :( least you could pedal around sitting down before.

A very cheeky heads up:

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3110/2654041591_6cbba92f6b_o.jpg

In 2008 I designed and printed up a few of these "Bike" T's mainly for myself and to hand out as freebies to mates.

I've since been asked by so many people (even people overseas as I like to pack one in the luggage on trips!) to make more so I've done just that.

I've got 50 T's and I'm keeping 10 smalls for myself which leaves:

10 small
20 medium
10 large

100% cotton, same awesome print quality as usual.

Price: $35 shipped Australia wide ($5 less for pick-up).

I never had the balls to do stuff that big, even a long time ago. I've actually got more balls now than ever. The stuff I've been doing on mountain bikes, thanks in part to suspension design, is way bigger than what I used to do as a kid.

Ok guys - need some assistance.

My girl and I live in Rhodes/Ryde area and want to do some weekend riding around the homebush and surrounding area.

We're not hardcore riders or anything like that but overall think hardtail MTB are the way to go considering the types of paths/roads we will ride on.

We bought this bike last week for the Mrs.. Giant Talon 3 Womens 2011. Nice and 'cheap' at about $550.

http://www.preprod.primalodyssey.com/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/product_images/talon3_w_white_2011.jpg

And I borrowed my mates Giant XTC 2 29er 2011.

http://bikereviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/giant-xtc-29er-2-2011-mountain-bike.jpg

Today we went for a ~20km ride to Homebush and and had a blast. So far My girl is loving her new bike and I really enjoyed the 29er.

Problem is my mate wants his bike back and I need to buy one and I am lost. 26" or 29" .. Giant, Felt, Scott etc........

I had my heart set on this. Felt Q920 26" and can be picked up for about $1500 down from the $2k+ RRP. My boss is a fan and put me onto the idea.

A few thoughts on 26 vs 29.

I don't have too much experience on either. Well other than riding bikes all my life until I was say 16/7. Typical hard tail MTB. So it's been over 10 years. I've been told that other than a hybrid, for the type of riding I'm doing that a 29er with it's faster speed over a 26 would be ideal. I'm not going to be riding any hardcore trails etc. Though as an example, today while riding to homebush, a couple of the paths were a mess due to work being carried out. A hybrid would have been terrible. So a faster all terrain alternative which is good on the street also brings me to a 29er. Though im not fussed either way. More than anything I'm after quality and value for money.

Test them all and see which one 'fits' you better. see if you can take them for an extended ride.
on the 29er, dont think it will be a big problem there but here (Perth) there is very few shops that stock tyre's and tubes. Nothing worse that having a blow out then having to wait for a new tube to be ordered in.

Shit tonne of bike shops in Sydney. I dont think that will be a problem.

Been reading alot and picking up on people's comments about size. I honestly dont think I am tall (5'8") and the 29er Giant XTC2 felt fine for me.

Deposit down for the 2011 Felt Nine Race @ $1650 in Medium. Dowm from about $2.5k Retail, I am happy with this.

They had it listed at $1750 for EOFY but I managed a little better. The guys at tbsm really looked after me.

This was easily the absolute best price I could find as everywhere else I looked for this model was asking $1999.

I should get the bike this weekend or next. Am moving this weekend so may not have time to pick it up (let alone ride).

My roadie. Had it since end of 04 and done at least 20,000km on it. It was supposed to be an 05 Trek 1500 (all aluminium) which had Ultegra 10 but they didn't have any 1500 frames so I scored on 04 Trek 2300 frame which has the carbon triangle. Fitted the Fulcrums a couple of years later and they definitely made a difference.

My offroadie. Had it since the end of 08 and done no more than 200km on it. 08 Mongoose Teocali Super. Bought it on a whim and so that I had something to tow a Giant kid trailer around with rather than with the roadie. Did one race and went over the bars resulting in a grade 4 AC joint injury in the right shoulder so gave up thinking about going offroad again. Pretty much sits on the rack in the garage.

Cool.

need to ask some questions then....

44T chainring and 16T sprocket seem a bit tall? whats the most popular setup?

Coolest pedals? best grips? red chain!?

Not sure what the most popular set-up is, different for different riders. Depends on whether you like high cadence riding/spinning or not, also depends on how hilly your area is! I had 48T and 17T rear and thought it was perfect. Pedals, well your bike is a trickster bike set-up so stick with fat mountain bike pedals. Chain can be any cheap red 1 1/8 BMX chain off eBay. Grips - the hipsters love OURY grips, comfy and colourful!

Sammy

Ordered the OURY grips even though i'm not hipster.

I'll stick with the 44-16T, don't have the legs for anything taller where i live.

Sorry guys i know this is a bit off topic
but I'm wanting to build a bike from parts which I'm procuring from overseas.
Can anyone recommend a good place to get my bike built up in Sydney? dealt with a few shops but getting a bit of attitude as I'm not buying parts from them.

Guys just a heads up. Cycling Express (Australia's cheapest online bike shop) is now offering everyday riders a free sponsorship (300 of them!) which includes a limited edition jersey and sticker set. At this stage anyone who applies is getting a bit of kit so get off ya bums and shoot them an email!

Have raced XC, DH, 4x, riden trails, BMX, road etc. Atm I just ride a tone od skatepark due to the weather and try and do a couple hundred on the roadie every week. Id really like to start racing XC again but I always seem to be getting too rowdy on a Saturday night.

After years of storage I finally pulled out my Torker Flipside. Its seen better days, but having said that - everything is working perfectly, just a little surface rust.

What should I do, embark on a project to revive it? Not sure if I have the time. Unless someone wants to make an offer haha.

You can find five10's online from Jensen in the USA (http://www.jensonusa.com/store/sub/223-Shoes++Footwear-Downhillfreeride.aspx?s=2048), I recently bought a set of the Impact Lows for biking (I do AM/freeride and street/skate riding) and love them, they're extremely grippy, almost too grippy.

We should really have a bike meet one day.. Plenty of interest here it seems! And yes, resurrect that fine BMX, MrPlow! It'll look great with a bit of a clean up!

Support your local bike shop. Most good bike stores carry 5.10's for about $110.

Agreed, support your LBS. I ended up buying them from Jensen because it was part of a larger order, as well as being on sale for around AU$60 - a very good price!

Go for Ay-ups if you can get them - by far the best brand of riding lights.
