Anyone into this? what about MMA?
I LOVE IT! with a passion! i know violence is bad but its full contact and VERY entertaining especially if you understand how difficult it is and the experience you need in each martial arts specialty. I used to do muay thai, brazilian jiu jitsu and mixed martial arts but just got too expensive and exhausting to maintain especially when you have bad weeks performance wise. But i still train in muay thai at home and will get back into training later in the year.
Watched UFC 110 on One HD and the Aussie crowd was NUTS! haven't seen a crowd go that crazy in any other UFC event. They also said it was the second fastest selling UFC event in history so far. It actually sold out in two hours before the fight card was even released! the fights were very good as well especially the second Aussie who had very good ground and stand up game, Perosh got smashed by CroCop thou but he did well i guess with short notice. Wanderlei Silva was also very good and better then i've seen him in awhile.
i got back from the city just then and many guys were rocking out tapout, affliction and UFC shirts. There has to be a few UFC fans here! like to get some discussion going on
Oh Yeah, I am into this i had Wanderlei Silva at my restaurant Churrasco Coogee on Saturday night..
I had photo's with and and had a good chat with him, he is a very friendly guy...
Myself and 17 others had a private box catered food aircon drinks etc, and most of all a very good veiw...
I hear they might be comimg back in October this year.. Can't wait..

Go Churrasco Coogee!!!!!! :) I've been a couple of times now :)
I love watching UFC. I get so tense when it's on Foxtel that I need a massage to relax my shoulders after watching it.
So hard to watch, I hate seeing people get hurt :(

I do enjoy the technical side of UFC (the manipulation, strategy, and searching for a shift in weight etc). Although the ground and pound produces results, it's not my preferred style of MMA.
However...UFC is a winner. BRING IT ON.

Silva vs gsp would be like gsp vs penn! The size difference is huge! Penn had no chance against gsp, and it would be the sane with gsp vs silva.

i heard Dana White wanted to get Cung Le to go up against Silva. Would be interesting because Cung Le is undefeated in kickboxing and mma but i still think Silva would win. Plus the people in UFC are in a completely different league to those in strikeforce but i heard Le isn't really fighting anymore because hes getting older and wants to focus on acting

Munoz ground and pound is nuts! i thought he was a goner after that uppercut then he came out with that! matt hughes destroyed renzos gracies leg as well, he was buckling after every kick, and even thou silva is crazy gun with his superhuman skills, he had bad sportsmanship and i don't blame the crowd for booing him

ufc 126 had the goods for some of the best fights but to me only the rich franklin vs forrest griffin fight was entertaining. Forrest was in top form and outperformed franklin in every aspect. Cant wait to see him in the octagon next.
Jon jones is growing rapidly in the sport and getting a title shot so early?!?!? i personally dont believe he deserves the shot yet because he hasnt really fought many top fighters besides bader but i guess noone else would be able to get into the right routine when the fight goes down next month. Hope Rua brings it to him because hes getting too cocky and needs to be level grounded, evenif he wins he has miles to go before being considered a real champ.
vitor and silva... hmmm VERY dissappointed it ended so early! i believe vitor was aggressing finally then gets knocked out with that front push kick to the head steven sigal taught him. Vitor was a machine back in the days and i hope he still has a promising future.
BUT! one good thing came out of that fight, if GSP wins against shields (which he will), then GSP vs Silva WILL go down sometime this year which will prove finally who the best pound for pound fighter is!
most of you dont care for mma but i do! hahahah also keep a lookout for the strikeforce heavyweight grand prix with the likes of fedor and overeem. UFC has a pretty shallowless heavyweight division and strikeforce has the best. WAR!

Dont write off GSP too early, yeah Silva is bigger then him but GSP always has the right game plan and is in a sense more well rounded (some of the best wrestling take downs) with a great training camp from around the world including freddie roach, greg jackson and that crazy french muay thai guy from TUF from the top of my head. Hes also very athletic and i believe HE has the best chance if he can pull the weight gain off. THIS fight will be fight of the century.

i agree with ya, im a big fan of gsp, his work ethics are just too crazy! Very tactical fighter with great wrestling abilities. I think jones is the next big thing and it's incredible how he only has been training for three years and got signed by ufc with only 9 months experience. He looked almost like Anderson silva against bader Whig was interesting and he can only get alot better. But it's all getting to his head. I think Rua has a really good chance against him if he has good take down defense. Also like I said I don't believe jones deserved the title shot yet since there's others like rampage or thaigo silva who've fought way harder competition then jones but it's kind of justified since they can't make weight or be in the right trainin mode with a month left before the fight whilst jones is already half way there so it will be interesting

Generally the UFC will give the previous title holder a crack at getting it back pretty much straight away so i can't see why Brock would be any different.

09-02-2011, 01:39 PM
Brock also is a massive cash cow for the ufc, so having him on a show like TUF is not only going to make for some great door breaking moments, but also brings in alot of money and fan potential for the ufc. Will be an interesting fight, jds has the tools to defeat brock but we also have no clue what hes like on his back if brock gets it that far.

Wezag
09-02-2011, 05:28 PM
Well history shows us the coaches themselves dont really teach them much at all, moreso the "crew" that the coaches bring. Brock has a superb wrestling background so IM sure he can teach them a thing or 2, JDS on the otherhand might have difficulty with english not being his first language.
Paolo
09-02-2011, 08:18 PM
it might end up being an America vs Brazil TUF season but then it wont be really viewer friendly if the Brazilians are talking in their language. Brock just needs to learn how to take a hit and do the typical lay and pray wrestling technique to win. A guy that big on top of you cannot be good.
on another note, i went to this martial arts place to try out their MMA class and it was HORRIBLE! it was those typical traditional tae kwon do or karate gyms that try to make their own MMA program BUT saying that the only thing worth taking the class was that they taught me how to properly do eddie bravo's rubber guard which is rare because the only 10th planet jiu jitsu place in Australia is in melbourne. Saying that, it still isnt good enough for me to go back =/
Wannabee

This placcalled bulldogs brings muay Thai trainers fom fairtex gym in Thailand to teach, two black belts from brazil teach the bjj and they have the australian gold medalist in wrestling teaching wrestling classes. There's also spma where thr head trainer perosh fights in the ufc but too bad he's lost all his fights against the likes of Tito Ortiz and crocop last year. Watched ufc 127 over the weekend.
Was disappointed george sot lost :(. He seemed to be really slow at shooting for a take down and got progressively slower as time went on, siver did well at stuffing the takedowns though. Glad te huna lost, after that bs he did to perosh he doesnt deserve to be in mma period. Really liked the ebersole/lytle fight, ebersole is quite the character and I have watched him many a time in cfc, great to see him finally in the ufc and he has now got some new fans after that performance. The main event was a bit of a snooze fest as with most fitch fights, the guy is a great fighter I just think dana is making it hard for him to get the belt due to his matches not being viewably marketable.

bumpage!
anyone watch ufc 137? the WHOLE card was boring.. except the main event BJ vs DIAZ that shet was fuggin insane! Diaz is nuts! his boxing looks so 'lanky' in a sense but effective az and when BJ took him down his transitioning and defense was definitely on par with the prodigy. Love how emotional he got at the weigh in, after the fight and even at the post conference. Condit is now out of the picture and itll be GSP vs Diaz in Feb next year. I definitely want to see Diaz take this one because as good as GSP is, he is an extremely boring fighter who plays it too safe so i see him playing the good ol wrestlers lay and ghey on Diaz but if he stands toe to toe with him, i believe GSP can get knocked out because theres no way GSP would be able to take that second round beating BJ took.
On to Jon Jones, this kid as much as i want to see him lose, is the real deal! if he beats machida which he has a chance of, he will have gotten number one contendership, won the belt, and defended it twice all within a year which would certainly bring him up to #2 pound for pound fighter in the world!
I was surprised with Frankie as well, the one i thought had pillow fists knocks out edgar! has a TON of heart to survive the first round in both rematches thou shet son! only other real contenders are ben henderson, ghey guida, cerrone! and if Gilbert Melendez makes it over from Strikeforce thatll make it very interesting. Lightweight is by far the most stacked. Dominiz Cruz has noone left in the division to face hes beaten them all.
Anderson looks scared to fight Sonnen especially after that big call. I thought Stann woulda taken a TKO of sonnen but sonnen just proved his world class wrestling against him which is Silvas weakness, i believe Chael can take it next go just has to really work on his BJJ defense.
Jose Aldo is being boring thoualmost like GSP and playing it really safe to keep the title which is dissappointing because he had really entertaining fights.
TUF 14 this season is friggin crazy too! the bantam and featherweights have so much energy and the coaches are up in each others grills which makes this season possibly the most entertaining. I'm routing for Mayhem, being a big fan, he isnt boring to watch and hes the first to tap out sakabura (gracie-hunter) and fought GSP when he was exciting. I think he has what it takes to beat Bisping.
Get strapped for the upcoming weeks mofos! its UFC time! besides sundays 137, tomorrow (or tonight) is the next episode of TUF, Sunday is 138 on onehd at 7am, following week is TUF and UFC on FOX with Cain vs JDS, following week is TUF then 139: shogun vs henderson, then a few weeks later is the TUF finale, 140: Jones vs Machida and then 141: Brock vs the Reem to end the year! shit is just too bananas!

I made a fair bit of coin off 137. Picked all the fights right except tyson griffin. I really thought he would of owned bart but meh... I was really hoping kongo would destroy mitrione but it was a very sloppy fight. Cerrone is one to watch out for. The guy sort of reminds me of jon jones but with better striking. He looks lethal and hungry, cant wait to see him fight again.
Loving the new TUF season as well. Lots of egos and skills. The akira guy challenging that bloke to a bare knuckle fight in the garden had me in stitches.
Cant wait till brock v reem. Its going to be roideriffic! Money is on lesnar though.

to be honest what got me into UFC and MMA was the movie: Never Back Down LOL! then i watched real MMA fights with guys like bas rutten and shamrock and thought this is nothing like it! i ended up joining an MMA gym to practise muay thai and tried the BJJ class for fun and loved the technical side of it so did that for awhile but decided to stop because it was a big expense and too many injuries and time so stopped for a few years just training on my bag at home. But now i found a new muay thai gym closer to home with the right camp to take me to competing stage so excited about it.
I have however been to a few BJJ places because they offer free first classes for fun with a few mates, and have completely owned them landing rear naked chokes, figure fours, guillotine chokes, etc. Even went to a place where they taught the infamous rubber guard. When i went to America last year i went to a Renzo Gracie gym and got tossed around like a rag doll against the blue belts!
btw i love bragging about this, but i have tapped out Australian UFC fighter Brian Ebersole with my first triangle choke 4 years back while i was rolling with him before his seminar. I'm friggin jawsome!

Cerrone is one to watch out for. The guy sort of reminds me of jon jones but with better striking. He looks lethal and hungry, cant wait to see him fight again.
Agreed! That guy has talent and is going to be a rising star in the UFC. All round great fighter.
Was kinda dissapointed with UFC137.. the best fight IMO was Cerrone vs Siver! Crocop's retirement was well overdue and sad to see BJ Penn retire as well :(

cerrone is a beast but i still believe fight of the night was rightfully given to penn vs diaz. Diaz was Diaz in that fight with the taunting and the relentless unorthodox boxing and Penn still has that iron jaw and still pushed on when i thought he was completely out of it.
btw he isnt retired yet he said hes going to get his head right first spend time with the family teach classes then decide so dont count the prodigy out yet! Ceaser gracie actually asked him to join the camp which would be really good!
Another guy to watch out for is a welterweight named Rory MacDonald.

he's fighting brian ebersole soon! should be a very interesting match up
Waiting for Chael vs anderson Part 2. Seriously i dont see anyone in that division thats a threat to silva besides Chael.

i thought brian stann was a good match up for silva, and expected brian to TKO chael but sonnens wrestling is too much to handle
loved the way he came out with that 'I quit' speech totally ignoring rogans questions WWE styles, but i loved even more how Diaz called out GSP because he looked so much more pissed off LOL! props to big country for calling out the winner of cain and dos santos LOL!
i'd like cain to win but dos santos has crazy boxing and cain has a questionable chin after the kongo fight where he got rocked every round. but then again JDS hasnt knocked out anyone in awhile
Anderson has fought at light heavyweight before . Anderson Vs Jones would be a fight I'd love to see!
won't happen, he wants to stay and retire in middleweight division. The mega match of GSP and Silva woulda been good but after watching the GSP vs Shields fight GSP would get demolished and hes too scared to fight Silva anyways more like George SAFE pierre

I think the biggest problem for Cain is how much time he's spent out of the ring. When he beat Lesner he was at the top of his game. I think that night he would have stopped Dos Santos as well. Things as they are now, he's looking like the underdog . Either way it should be a great fight .
I think Stann would have been a great match up for Anderson . His stand up is at a very high level, and given that Anderson prefers to fight on his feet I think a Stann might have been a real chance to take him out.

Leben Vs Munoz
Paolo
06-11-2011, 02:09 PM
interesting card all up it was a better card then 137 besides the penn diaz and cerrone fights.
That brazilian kid is pretty good running a 17win streak as well is very impressive, he should be on his way to Cruz but needs to fight more of the top contenders.
That swedish dude almost got me thinknig he could tko alves but alves came back and fugged him up! lol thiago is pretty good but his major downfall is takedown defense, if he had solid defense he would have posed a great threat against GSP when they slugged it out a few years back.
Munoz vs Leben was ok but Leben gassed out within the first round! lol maybe his game plan was to knock him out then, there was no way he woulda made the whole 5 rounds. Didnt get to see Munoz crazy donkey kong ground n pound but he still did ok. He is a top contender but he doesnt set up his takedowns well at all so it would be an embarrasing fight to watch if he fights Silva..
JDS vs Cain a week from now 1pm onehd yo! then a crazy card for 139!

no doubt GSP is a great fighter with the right mindset to martial arts and training and what not, but you have to admit he is a boring fighter. Ever since he won the belt, hes played it way too safe and just basically jabs and uses takedowns and follows the ghey 'greg jackson' plan. Atleast with Anderson Silva, he finishes fights but i'm afraid Jose Aldo is turning to be safe as well. PLUS GSP is a cheater, have you seen the greasegate clip on youtube? he was all greased up fighting BJ he couldnt even wrap his legs around him, also when he got busted he stuck to other ways like when he fought shields during the breaks he kept spitting water on himself so hed be more slippery. NOT COOL
If you knew Diaz you'd know he has a real personality disorder and has some real problems just watch interviews with him on youtube. Plus hes calling GSP scared because when Diaz got demoted to fight BJ, GSP didnt retaliate and still ask for the Diaz fight. He was ducking Diaz because he knew Condit would be an easier fight. He called him scared too because he thinks GSP is faking that knee injury. But each to their own...

Yeah I'm not going to lie when I saw that greasing up video I was pretty cut up that someone that I really look up to would use such tactics. The only reason I prefer GSP over Anderson (although both great fighters) is the cockiness. I mean if you're good and you know it then fair enough to be cocky but I just hate it from a sportsman point of view. For show its great and for ratings even better but Anderson is just way too cocky for my liking. The same reason why I don't like Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reen should win. Clay may be annoying but he has awesome cardio.
you think overeem would win? i was disappointed in his performance back in the strikeforce heavyweight grand prix but overeem vs JDS would make a bigger fight then cain vs overeem. I say the only real good people in the heavyweight division is overeem, JDS and Cain really, you could argue frank mir, possibly roy or nog or brock but other then that whoever defends the belt against them then there really is noone else unless Jones puts on some muscle and goes up he'd be a big threat but a fet kent too LOL!
Clay annoys me because he jumps around and moves his hair so much that it creates the illusion that his busy when hes really just stalling like when he fought petis. Ben Henderson doesn't get the credit he deserves, he was the WEC lightweight champ and was winning his last fight before got hit with the matrix kick!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmlghbZ0ims
i was watching an interview with GSP and he knows theres criticism with fans and the media about his performance since he hasnt been finishing fights so lets hope he doesn't play the 'lay'n'gay' card against Diaz.

You lucky sod! Yeah he seems to be a top bloke, very humble. A mate bumped into him as he was going for a jog with his security guard around the harbour (I know, security guard? whos guarding who?).. he said that Wanderlei was so happy and excited to know that he was recognised so my mate grabbed a snap of them both which he was more than happy to be part of.

hendo by the hbomb, cung le kia tko, faber decision, rick story via decision
my predictions anyhow
Paolo
20-11-2011, 09:13 PM
incredible fight! faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa so much heart in both of them to stay in it but yeah i thought the decision was rightfully hendersons. I was REALLY impressed with hendo especially with his BJJ transitions and landing the crucifix and escaping a rear naked and moving to shoguns guard. CRAZY fight! i believe shogun was aggressive for the takedown from the first round because he studied the hendo vs shields strikeforce fight awhile back and saw he couldnt do much so thought he could capitalize on it but he landed quite a few nice uppercuts as well.
i was proved wrong with cung le and wanderlei. Another great fight i was scared silva woulda get KOd in the first round but seemed cung lacked the cardio but what do you expect when hes always throwing kicks which take out a lot more out of you. Faber looked like a beast against bowles more like his WEC days and put a lot of pressure on bowles. The rubber match between cruz should hopefully be more interesting next time around.
I was very impressed with rick storys boxing this time around! hes always the one to put you up against the fence and just dirty box but he outstruck kampmann in my opinion which forced martin to go for the takedowns otherwise i would have seen kampmann losing.
NASTY KO's in the free to air prelims! faaa bader doesnt even have to land flush at all to knock out guys! and the macdonald KO was nuts! kind of like the machida knock out of rashad lol
GREAT GREAT card

definitely was one of the best cards of the year. The five round thing is kind of a double edged sword thou because theyll be pacing themselves so you wont see them go all out most of the time but will definitely test them no doubt!
the place i went to watch it was filled with vietnamese elders supporting cung le, and when he lost they all went silent and left before the real main event!
the henderson vs shogun fight is apparently in the fight of the year category and dana said it was in the top 3 mma fights of all fights. This fight went down as well which many are saying topped the hendo shogun fight but my net is soo effin slow so you guys watch it:

i'm completely all for mayhem, hope he puts an end to bisping! if you've followed miller you'll see his personality throughout his career but he wasnt that famous in UFC (only fighting GSP when he was entertaining) but he hosted bully beatdown, competed in Dream and strikeforce amongst others. He's the first ever person to submit sakabura (gracie hunter) and also was the first to so closely submit jake shields with a rear naked choke but the round ended. Always an entertaining fighter and you should see his training camp! hes got partners such as Mark Munoz, Wanderlei Silva, Shogun, Werdum, Babalu and training with Rafael Cordeiro.
plus mayhem was a way better coach on TUF. Did you see when theyd fight mayhem would tell his fighters exactly what to do whilst bisping was just shouting GET THE EFF UP! he is pretty rude for doing that at the weigh ins especially since he got slack for spitting at jorge riveras corner after the fight after landing an illegal knee to begin with. Poor form.

+1 for mayhem. Although, Bisping seems to look bigger than Miller? Maybe its just the camera angles, who knows? But lookin forward to it
I reckon diego and TJ will win the contract. Diego is a beast for such a little guy!
I too hope Bisping smashes/smashed him! Miller is a fucking tool and I mainly base my opinions on them both from TUF series. Bisping may not have been the best in the corner when his fighters were not putting in but all the other politics and shit Bisping handled in a more genuine mature way, he's a good dood IMO.

Hahahah im watching it now as well...just finished d/l'ing! Given the chance I reckon TJ would have bounced back but man dodson is fkn quick!
Just started watching it today but I saw your post Paulo and knew who was going to win :(
No real surprise that Bisping bashed him, awesome how he picked him to bits in the 2nd and 3rd. I dont really agree that Bisping gassed out, he did collapse after the fight but whilst that clock was ticking he was still putting in a pretty good fight as its rare that any fighter is 100% in the 3rd but Miller was def in no shape to be fighting someone of Bispings calibre.
I hope my neighbours arent suss at what I was shouting over lol!
Now I better watch the other fights :D

i'm up for the same people as well as Brian Ebersole. Never been a huge fan of the nog brothers and really wanna see the gravedigger by ortiz again lol also keen on Machida but i doubt he'll pull it off. If he was able to train with Anderson it would've been a great advantage but i've read that the spiders been in recovery mode so wasn't in his camp but has been sending videos on what to work on. I reckon Jones reach and athleticism will be enough to either keep machida at bay or overpower him but then again machida has crazy take down defense and is very evasive. I like rooting for the underdogs anyway =p
back to mayhem, i believe that he gassed due to adrenaline dump, cage rust and probably was over trained. It wasn't really fare to give him Bisping to begin but they both made a very interesting series! Not that keen on the next one thou with Dominiz Cruz vs Urijah Faber...
also next year with UFC on Fox, there's going to be around 3 UFC events every month! shit's just too bananas!

Hey P, did Junior dos santos ever face up against lesnar?
mayhem was shocking! had high expectations and was very quickly let down especially with the training camp he had! its a joke to gass out like that but there could be unknown factors like there may have been too much pressure on mayhem to do good since UFC is the elite MMA organisation and there was a lot riding on his performance. That plus other things must've gotten to him, hes definitely not the first to succumb to it but yeah his performance was not great at all. Dana isn't even sure if he'll perform again, i say give him another one or two opponents that he could beat, and if he does shit again then definitely he needs to leave the UFC and could possibly focus on Dream or the other organizations like Bamma, Bellator, possiblhy strikeforce again?
yeah i definitely see lesnar just shooting for takedowns but failing and Overeem TKOing him or KOing him. Overeems been training at Xtreme Couture as well which should see his take down defense pretty solid by fight night.
JDS never got to fight lesnar because lesnar got hit with that disease he has so carwin filled in and got pretty battered up. JDS vs Overeem is a dream match up against the two heaviest hitters in the sport, should definitely make a great fight.
stephen8512

I dunno man, Mayhem, I think he's better as a commentator or something. He has that voice which suits commentary more than his poor performance against bisping. Having said that though, Bisping wasn't overly dominating either. They were both equally crap but Mayhem's cardio just wasnt up to scratch. Plus bispings standup is much better than mayhems also. Mayhem never really got a chance to use his jiujitsu
Ahh thats right...Lesnar has something wrong with him. Yeah, Overeem VS JDS will be a killer matchup. Personally, I like JDS. Killer instinct, heavy hitter, but humble and seems like a genuine all round nice guy....

Mirs submission win was brutal! the comeback was kinda like the patt barry kongo fight bur not as dramatic. I still don't think Mir would be a legitimate top contender for the belt but then again theyre arent that many great heavyweights in the division.

There has been many worse incidents over the years, I think Bisping copping that flying tomahawk from hendo was worse. Lots of emotional fans of other beaten fighters at the hands of JJ clutching at straws me thinks

I totally agree, ppl just hate Jon and use any little thing to hold against him. I have NEVER seen a fighter get gently laid down after being choked out in MMA by anyone. And if ppl want to get technical it is John Mccarthy that should be noticing when a fighter is out and should be wrapping is arms around them, which he did but still didnt have him properly and dropped him.

Jon is not the one saying go over there and get fans, Jon isnt the one who wasnt paying attention to see if machida was out. People hate this guy for the religious banter but if you dont like that crap then hit mute once he wins a fight, simple.
Good win Bones! Your a machine!
whoa amigos! lol i also kinda agree with you guys like i didnt see anything wrong with how he just let him drop or how mir broke nogs arm. Theyre in the heat of the moment. But i guess people are used to sportsmanship but these guys are testorone filled fighters
people don't hate on bones because of religious banter by the way, if that were the case, then they'd be hating on many of the brazilians like Vitor, they hate on him because he's cocky. I think the fans are more educated in this as well, did you see how many boos he got at the weigh ins? He doesn't show it to the press, but i read many articles and watch videos of the stuff he does away from the cameras which doesn't sit right to many. Rashad is very vocal about it so was Rampage abit. People also don't like him cause he's 'fake' i read another article where that time they said he stopped a bandit a day before his fight was all BS it was actually greg jackson and some other trainer and he wasn't there at the time, but who knows.
personally i don't really mind Bones but i always go for the underdogs. After that fight i see him as number 2 pound for pound fighter because he became number one contender, won the title, and defended it successfully twice all this year. If he beats rashad and hendo then i'd say he would be number one. Andersons career doesnt have too long to go since hes 37 now so he'd most likely defend it a few more times before he's done. GSP is just too boring lol he jabs and shoots for the takedown and thats it so i hope Diaz takes it off him after he beats Condit for the interim belt because he comes to stand and bang and has a crazy bjj game so he's exciting. Jose Aldo just got very boring when he transitioned to UFC but maybe hell put on a better show when he takes on mendes in brazil next year. Other then that i dunno, JDS still has to take on overeem to solidify who the 'baddest man on the planet' is, frankie still has a lot to prove since the light division is stacked with way too much talent and dominic cruz is just plain weird to watch lol

It's called having respect for one's opponent and has nothing to do with religion. No kiss nor sarcasm required Wezag. There is a difference between knocking an opponent out and dropping them on the ground knowing they had been out for sometime. Many a fighter in the past has notified a ref that their opponent has gone out, before the ref has noticed. Jon isn't the one saying go over and get some fans, but his own camp clearly realise he is too cocky for his own good, and people see straight through his facade. I put Jones' efforts in the same category as Hendo hitting Bisping on the ground, or Bisping spitting at Rivera's camp, unsporting. Oh and that's right, Jones again showing his unsporting behaviour, look up his fight against Hamill, he was dq'd for illegal elbows.

Are you serious dude? Go into any forum and read a Jon Jones thread, there all about hating on him because of the god speak. He does it in pretty much any opportunity he can get, which is fine by me, I just hit the mute button. But yeh, people are hating on him because of that, look around its pretty obvious. The other guys dont get hate on as much because they arent in the spotlight and easily aren't as consistent with the gospel speeches.

U sound mad bro, its an opinion deal with it..Sounds like you didnt even comprehend what I wrote as you stated "this has nothing to do with religion". Did I say it was? I mentioned people hate on him for that, or basically whatever haters can get their hands on..You cant possibly know what was going on inside Jones' head, weather he knew machida was out, its not his responsibility quite frankly and thats something your not accepting and trying to link to Jones as his wrongdoing.
Greg Jacksons comments can be taken either way, as a douchy comment or as being totally legit. Some of these fighters arent the brightest tools in the shed, especially after a fight, some need a refresher, I know I would especially in a title fight. Even so, we have no clue wether or not Jones would of went over to machida 5 seconds later if greg didnt blurt that out. Again we are blaming Jones for something he is not responsible for.

trust me man i read the forums and watch the videos! MMA is the ONLY sport i follow and i follow it religiously lol i like to know about the lead up to events, the training camps, chaels trolling, etc. I've certainly appreciated it a lot more when i started practising it years ago so i can really see the technique and all that etc. Not knocking you by any means by the way
check this thread out:
http://www.mmashareforum.com/serious-mma-discussion-f1/why-do-you-hate-jon-jones--t49732.html
its 8 pages long but it talks about why people hate jones, theyre are certainly people that don't dig the religious points, but thats not the main point its really the 'cockyness' or the 'fakeness'.
On to other stuff, i went to my mates house last night who does this weekly thing at his house where we roll and spar in boxing, and i had loads of fun! every time i wrestled with this guy, i got him with a different submission. I landed a triangle, one arm guillotine, neck crank, and these modified neck chokes i made up on the spot LOL! boxing was fun too i was utilising my reach and he couldn't get past it, i played with him a bit too using the GSP jab to keep him at bay and taunting him nick diaz style and tried the beserker wanderlei or rampage attack. I still got it!

i'm not mad mate, just voicing my opinion. To quote your own words, "People hate this guy for the religious banter but if you dont like that crap then hit mute once he wins a fight, simple". I stated that this is not the reason I don't like him. So to answer your question yes you did say it was. I don't pretend to know nor care for what was going on in Jones' head, his behaviour against Hamill and Machida was unsporting, thus my dislike for the guy.

whatcha guys think about 141?
A LOTA people are happy fitch got finished LOL! KO'd in 12 seconds, atleast it won't be a boring fight with the title holders/contenders.
Glad Nate Diaz got the win, love the accuracy of the Diaz boxing Cerrone couldn't answer but was successful with the leg trips but i don't think they did much damage since he was aiming to check the kicks and ended up getting sweeped with the other leg supporting him. But yeah i love the 'dont give a fcuk' attitude of the Diaz brothers because they can back that shit up.
I can't say i didn't expect Lesnar to lose, but i wanted him to have a chance with atleast one takedown but now he's retired which sucks since he wasn't all that bad just lacked when hit. Well i woulda really preferred to see Overeem vs JDS anywho
2012 will have around 35 UFC events and Strikeforce will have 8 and if that isnt enough, TUF will have two seasons both 12 week live shows and then there's Dream, Bellator and ProElite events as well so you are guaranteed your MMA fix almost every week!

no doubt should be good, the UFCs in Australia have been surprisingly good but they need to give us better cards! main event looks good so does the constantinos vs court mcgee fight should be good. Flyweight guys must be small bastards aye! around the 61kg limit or so

yeah me neither =S i wanna see jose aldo finish someone in the UFC he should have motivation since its in brazil now thou. I'm more keen on the co-main event with Rumble vs the phenom I wanna see Vitor's killer beserker rage attack like his old days and like when he finished akiyama. Nether the less, i will still watch the event because i love the ufc >D

Ive got money on rumble, vitor is too old and rumble is more explosive in my opinion.
Paolo
10-01-2012, 07:08 PM
watched a video and rumble sounds very confident that he's going to win. Unsure if he's going to stand and bang with Vitor thou he might do what he did to Dan Hardy and just lay and ghey on him but he does have a punchers chance since Vitors chin is suspect now. He trains with the 'blackzilians' so he's got people like Rashad Evans in his camp also has Antonio Bigfoot Silva with him. Plus he walks around at probably 215!
http://bjpenn.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/anthony-johnson-185.jpg
Vitor on the other hand seems pretty calm from his training videos but they brought in people like GSP, Nate Marquadt, Brendan Scaub and a few others to help. I'm definitely going for Vitor on this one just hope he has good takedown defense and doesnt get caught with a good shot heheh
also did you guys see BJ Penn bitching about Diaz on his twitter two months after the fight? geez
Paolo
15-01-2012, 07:34 PM
wow another brazilian night! first fight was tremendously boring (but technical) but daymnnnnn! that KO saved it for me! second fight was a bummer since Prater was hit good with the knee and copped like 3 hammerfists max to the back of the head but ah well. Palhares what a beast! massive nugget! and that submission was crazy! the transition into it was high degree BJJ stuff right there! he looked so massive i thought he'd be a KO artist but he's known for that same heel lock on other opponents.
Which brings me to the co-main event, man there was a lot of controversy because rumble was overweight by 12 pounds! even if it were a medical issue, he should have been able to do it since he was able to cut to 170 but he was very sloppy on his feet and vitor looked more concerned with stopping his take downs then imposing his killer instinct barrage of punches but good to see him get the W i'm pretty sure rumble is cut from the UFC now since he's failed to make weight on numerous occasions.
DAAYMMMNNN the real jose aldo turned up to fight! he looked like he was peaking before he entered the octagon! LOL! reminded me of Jose back in the WEC days when he was a killer. I feel he changed it up because in the past he was probably not feeling appreciated not being a main event so he just let it carry to decision but he definitely brought it to chad! that counter reflex knee was nuts and he's celebration was more bonkers! faaaaa
good card would have like to see the fights go longer then one round but still great. Get ready cause this saturday is UFC on FX Guillard vs Miller then the following is UFC on FOX 2 then the following one which i'm really looking forward to is Diaz vs Condit, then it just keeps on going so get your MMA fix on mofos

don't care if i'm the only one replying here cause i'm gonna keep giving it! LOL!
anyway crazy card today! UFC on FX 1 was jawsome! a majority of the fights only went the first round whilst the one that went the distance was an all out war guns blazing! love it!
Pat Barrys submission defense was top notch! great escape from the arm bar and wicked looping hook and finishing blows to get the W. Those two bantamweights were nuts! those moments were they were just exchanging back and forth especially in the final round were crazy and surprised it didn't get FOTN. Ludwigs muay thai was crazy and i wanted him to win but he got caught in that damn guilotine. I was also going for Miller and happy he got the win but he copped a few good knees to the face but sinked in the rear naked FTW.
this KO was nuts to! never seen anything like it before:

i'm all for sonnen winning since i don't see any threat from bisping but apparently chael is saying that anderson doesn't want to fight him so even if he wins in his next fight he's looking at either jones, gsp and even jds LOL! he is also not talking thrash about bisping which is kinda ghey i wanted to see them get confrontational.
also look up the primetime: diaz vs condit on youtube, pretty sick but they didn't focus on nick enough probably because he doesn't like the attention but it does show a few good behind the scene moments with him.

I'm thinking Silva is going to hand Sonnen a beating after what I saw with Bisping ! Didn't Sonnen take a ban for some sort of performance enhancing drugs after fighting Silva the first time? Looks like he's going to need them after last weekends effort. A pity Bisping couldn't land any heavy shots when they were on their feet!
Really looking forward to this weekends event, Diaz is a machine! Thanks for the links, great fights!

BAH! SO DISSAPPOINTED! that was one boring ass card LOL! only worthy fight was werdum and nelson but cmon man! I thought Diaz lost because Condit kept running away! he landed strikes that weren't even powerful and just kept running away but you can't really blame him thats how you get away from fallig into Diazs strength but still... fuggin greg jackson that boring mofo.
But A LOT of people think Diaz won the fight i really hope he doesn't retire thou because i couldnt give a shet about gsp vs condit, it'll be prime example of lay and ghey at its finest

It wasn't the most exciting fight to watch. But I enjoyed it because strategically, Condit executed the perfect game-plan, and he stuck to it the whole fight. Like it or loath it, he won that fight on points, no question.
I'd hate to see Diaz retire, and if he does because he didn't like the way the decision went, he just looks like a sook!
Paolo
06-02-2012, 11:05 PM
yeah as much as i hate to admit it after watching it i saw condit that won it but after reading the forums my opinion is slowly changing especially when all these fighters saying that condit didnt win. I read that Anderson Silva and Chuck Liddel thought Diaz took it. Also whats up with the two judges giving it 49-46?!? no way but maybe i'm too butthurt and a diaz nuthugger to accept it lol
also you can tell dana and gsp weren't happy with the result even thou dana did score it in favour of condit. If you watch youtube interviews they are frequently asking why he thought he won the fight so there is a lot of speculation behind the win i wouldn't be surprised and hope that there is a rematch just like in the frankie edgar vs bj penn fight.

update:
UFC on FUEL was an alright card, i digged it more then 145. Main highlight was definitely Brian Stann. I loved how when he got tagged he didn't retreat but stood in the pocked and traded blows until he dropped him. The KO of Alessio from the guard with short punches faaa thats A LOT of power to knock someone out in such a short distance and being mega classy he stopped even before the referee could intervene. Heres the GIF after the jump
http://cdn1.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/249423/ofp8y.gif
ok onto UFC 145 that Hominick vs Yagin fight was pretty crazy! Yagin was swinging for the fences i knew he would gass out but props to him he deserved it (not being bias either because he's filipino ha!) he dropped hominick in the first two. He should really learn to conserve his energy thou but i reckon his game plan was to KO hominick especially after he got KO'd by the korean zombie earlier. Interesting to see if Hominick will have another fight because he's 3 straight defeats hes starting to be like Dan Hardy.
I usually go for the underdogs so wanted Che Mills to win but coming from the UK, the wrestling department is weak so Rory took him down at will very easily but yeah Rory was getting tagged quite well in the first round and didn't wanna trade so he grappled him and landed some good G'n'P. Interesting for him to say he'll be the future champ in another 2 years and GSP saying he'd rather move up to middleweight then fight him. GSP would have made the move earlier but he's ducking Silva hahah
Main event was boring az! i was really going for Evans to pull the upset but he didn't close the distance enough and got bullied around by Jones. Eventually i just wanted Jones to finish him but he played it safe this fight. FUGGIN GREG JACKSON GAMEPLAN FIGHTERS! he shits me! turns exciting fighters into boring ones. On another note the hype train of the Wonderboy was derailed after he lost, probably too much pressure on him to perform well because of his kickboxing record and GSP talking him up.
TUF is pretty good so far both Faber vs Cruz and Vitor vs Wanderlei. Funny in the Brazil one how there is so much product placement and marketing. Word on the street is that there is going to be a TUF: Australia vs UK no coaches confirmed yet thou
146 will be crazy since all the maincard fights are heavyweights. Sucks we dont get to see Overeem vs JDS thou and now its Mir who i am almost 100% certain will get KO'd since he has a glass jaw. And apparently Roy Nelson vs Cain for the number 1 contender which doesn't make sense for Roy since he's coming off a loss. But i am also excited for the prelims i wanna see mayhem miller win against CB dolloway and hopefully dan hardy can pull off a win as well.
you have been updated!

i rewatched the Hendo vs Shogun fight and man what a fight! the last round was boring but the rest were just bonkers! I am almost sure Hendo will lost but would be awesome if he landed the H-bomb on jones but i definitely see it win or lose as his last fight
the ben henderson vs anthony pettis fight was really good too. And also the diego sanchez vs paulo thiago was nuts! second round sanchez picked up thaigo and walked him across the octagon yelling then dumped him down! crazy shit!
some very good match ups lined up including:
lyoto machida vs ryan bader
thiago silva vs shogun hua
brian stann vs hector lombard
i pick machida, shogun winning. Unsure about stann or hector because hector is a fuggin KO machine! its a really good test to welcome him to the UFC.
For UFC on FOX 3 this sunday, i would really like diaz to win against miller but i have a feeling miller will just use his wrestling to ride out a decision. I also pick hendricks, palharis and barry to take the W home.

I'm a fan of Pat Barry , but he has got to be one of dumbest fighters in the UFC. First he lets Cro Cop get up twice after knocking him on his arse only to lose.
Now he gives up what I think would have guarantee'd him a win with that full mount for side control, WTF was he thinking !!!
hes not trigger happy and too much of a nice guy
he said in one interview he chopped a guys leg down with a kick in a fight then asked him if he was alright hahah

solid impersonations, he nailed it with rampage, gsp, nate and wanderlei but bisping and henderson weren't as good
korean zombie owned today! fuggin nuts how smooth his submission attempts were, and he outstruck poirier as well! definitely title worthy but i agree with sonnen saying he can beat aldo but its unlikely. Also he was gassing out from the third round onwards which isn't a good sign, also he can't really rely on his ground game against someone like aldo who has insane take down defense. Nevertheless very impressive performance
