PS: me and windyzz are siblings.
Don't be lazy, here's your thread!
It's good to have your own so you can update it whenever you get new mods! :)

Pipings + k&n + 2 heat shields + etc
Lots of extra for very little $$ (bargain).. Quality is questioned tho, ie; Overspray on inner pipings.

red makes it go faster!!
First impression:
Ok.. one word 'Sound'. It's quiet hard to describe, but the turbo spool and whistle are now obvious, even from outside the car (I did a driveby test). Engine sounds more throaty at higher rev and grunty at lower rev. Closing the windows though, its a totally different experience. You literally can hear every single thing the turbo is doing. It's almost like listening through a deadened speaker inside the cabin. It'll benefit for a spirited drive.. however, i could imagine it will be quiet intrusive at times, so beware (test driveby before you purchase it)!! Haven't driven any highways milage yet, might comment on that later on.
Installation wasn't hard too.. There's a fair bit of pipings that needs to be sorted out and placed into orders before putting it in the engine, but it's straight forward. Instruction book was helpful but quiet vague. They provide quiet a few spare nuts and bolts too, which is a good thing if you're unorganised person like me.
Compared it with my friends injen CAI on his civic, material used is the same. And its only a fraction of its price. In my opinion, the best $300 to spend for a GTI.
I'll be posting some video soon.

Nice BMP kaoticice, always looks good in night shots.
That intake must be a fair bit louder :P
Hi kaoticice, it's great to see your GTI pics and the new piece of the toy.
The HPS CI is almost a direct colour-coordination with your GTI grille stripe, in the pic. :)
Looks good, no question.
Sounds loud, as you've reported with detail.
I have a dumb, newbie question for you (I don't recall if you've said if you are benchmarking the car before & after from a pure performance/pickup/speed perspective):
What practical speed/response benefit do you get with this and how does this differ as a) standalone b) with a more free-flowing exhaust downpipe and c) with the intake and a tune and/or the downpipe?
Plus a real dumb question: How is this a CAI if it's not a sealed system; how does it get external, cooler air rather than air from the hot engine compartment? :)
Just to make myself look even more ridiculous, if that is possible, are you just doing the mod because it makes the car more enjoyable to drive, rather than increasing performance? :)
FYI I was just having a quick look on ozaudi and noticed this thread about the Carbonio intake and comparison with the stock and another intake.
Some of the comments are about it being more a cosmetic and audio upgrade. :) http://www.ozaudi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26302

Hi Bizi, Ill try and answer some of your questions
1. In terms of speed wise, I think we tend to experience the things we believe. With all the *claimed* gains, it kind of makes u feel it has some degree of performance gain. However, I've always been skeptic about intake gaining bhp's, and to tell you the truth i cannot feel any power gain. It may show some gains on the dyno graph, but these numbers are small imo. On the flip side, throttle response is much better than the standard restricted intake. In my conclusion, its the increased in throttle response that allows the turbo to spool a little earlier in the rpm and makes it feel faster and rev better too.. B) I don't have any other mods yet, but from my research downpipe is one the biggest gain for turbo cars. It's a much better mod if you're considering performance. + it's stage 2 ready =D.. C) Both intake and downpipe benefits from a tune. Downpipe will definitely give u the biggest gain though, it is however a little more expensive and may create droning sound if you're after the cheaper brands/no-brand.
2. U got a point .. it looks more like a short ram than a CAI. It's just weird that all other manufacturer claims it to be CAI as well. Maybe it's not as short as a short-ram. There is however, other manufacturer which offers heat shield around the intake snorkel (VF-engineering, Evoms, AFE, K&N typhoon). Their prices are a lil more premium... Fresh air comes through the grille of the front car (ie: from the stock intake feed). It does get quiet hot when idling for a long period of time, but it's fine once u get moving... IMO intake temp, isn't really significant on turbo cars as the air will go through the turbo anyway, which operates at melting temp, 2 - 5C isn't going to make any difference.
3. My main reason for the purchase is for show and sound.. I love the sound to bits, and this adds to the driving experience in the GTI. + my stock intake snorkel is broken anyway. If you're after performance get it chipped xD
PS: The problem is those carbonio intake still runs through the engine cover, which is where all the air restrictions are.. Kinda defeat the purpose of an uuprated airfilter on a GTI IMO... However, there are proven gains by independent tester by these intake (ill link some later). I suspected due to the bigger snorkel connected to the grill.
Hope this helps.
PPS: im a lil tipsy now, so i hope i makes sense :P
