Hi,
I noticed these on eBay tonight. New listing. Wheels only and claimed to be replaced upon delivery of the car.

Someone's GTI from a forum member in Melbourne?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Genuine-VW-Detroit-Alloy-Wheels-Travelled-only-30kms-/130416064905?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e5d673989

Just in case it interests any GTI owners here. Starting at $300. I have no idea if anyone's keen for such an upgrade.

I'm sorry HC, I'm not a fan of the look on the MKV. I think there are nicer wheels that are lighter and look better.

They are a great improvement over the denvers, but probably agree they suit the sharper lines of the MK6 a bit more.

$700+ a bit pricey!!!

I never really liked the mk6... i'm coming around to it, it is like some albums, you need to listen to it a few times before you enjoy... but those wheels are still not for me.

A bit pricey? if they go for $700 then that would be considered an awesome deal!

Okay! I am now the official owner of these wheels as of 2 hours ago! A funny story and here goes...

Am in Melb for work at the mo... So havent been checking the forum for the last couple of weeks.

Was sitting in my hotel room bored out of my brain, so thought what better way to spend my time than to jump on VWGolf.net.au. >D

Saw the post, by the time i had checked out the eBay link, i was around an hour too late. Auction had ended for $1775!!!
I thought shot in the dark, ill just email the seller just in case the high bidder didnt go through with it..

Whatya know??? The seller buzzes me the next day to say the highest bidder hadnt gone through with the sale and was I genuinely interested???? I was like Whhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaattttttt??????? Course I am!!!

Anyway ended up going after work and picked them up! Man do they look hot!!!! There were some really fine scratches on them basically un-noticeable in natural light and 1 mm scuff mark from when they were taken off the car.

End of the story goes that I walked away paying $1200 for them!!!! Now I just gotta figure out how to ship them back to Sydney without any damage! So keen to get them on the car, thinking of just paying the extra luggage charge with Qantas and checking them in as Baggage! >D

Now just gotta get a nice set of rubber for them... Any ideas anyone??? Looking at around $200-$300 a corner?

depends what you are after in rubber, I have PS3s and love em to bits, quiet and grippy as hell in the wet etc, not sure of the price though but definately worth a look

Great deal. Glad it went to a forum member. :)
I only posted it since it appeared when I was checking out what range of 18" 5x112 wheels were available on eBay.

I have been told e-go offers a very good price for this kind of freight.

I have also been told about Option1 Garage for tyres.

They are awesome wheels, i actually wouldn't bother going to aftermarket wheels with the Detroits, that's how tight they look.

Anyway i'm sure the seller could arrange packing and shipping if you pay?

Smartsend.com.au is quite cheap and excellent service if the items are packed and ready to be collected.

@ Nath... Im going to check the PS3's this weekend at my local tyre shop and see what they can do...

@ Bizi, just checked e-go and they are cheaper than smartsend and i thought smartsend were the cheapest... Thanks for the tip! Now just gotta get my hands on a serious amount of bubble wrap or foam.

I already picked them up off the seller this arvo and payed for them. Didnt really talk shipping with the seller I think i was just so excited to get my hands on them. No biggie am in the office tomorrow for a few hours before my flight home so ill organize couriers then..
May end up going with e-go as per Bizi's rec...

@ Melbv, thanks for the suggestion so far looks like e-go is the go!!

Cant wait to get these bad boys on the car!

The minister for finance isnt quite happy with my purchase at the moment! So i think she may end up appreciating it a little more once they are on the car.v:p
