August Photo Contest - Theme: ''mural''
As of 1st of April a VWGolf.net.au monthly photo competition will take place.

August's theme is Mural Theme

Rules
Car featured in the submitted photograph must be owned by a VWGolf.net.au forum member
One photo submission/month only (you are allowed to edit your submission as much as you like before the end of the month).
The photo must relate to the month's theme.
No submissions will be accepted after 11:59pm on the last day of the month.
No restrictions for post processing.
Voting will start on the last day of the month and continue through to the first week of the next month.

Car must be within Mural.

I have a particular one in mind just hope no one takes the shot !

Reserved for when I can get my arse out of bed on the weekend to take some shots. (Ok finally had some time to take pics and muck around with photoshop....3 hours to work out how to put a border on)

Had a good go with my lovely wife to figure out the best balance, but still afraid I am amateurish with post production. Was very tempted to just use paint to put a border on it.

yeah you're right, need to look at what I got anyway and do some more editing, found it hard with the different levels of light and shadow

BTW Frenchie from memory PS was only like $200 with the student discount, just find a student to buy it for you....

thanks, yeah I noticed that when I did it but had a two year old to deal with, not too fussed.

I see -

the condition that adobe has is you need to fax through (or email) a copy of a student ID with your name and a photo (or if the student ID has no photo then an additional ID with one) this of course needs to be in the name you purchased it with.

have you tried downloading a trial, I did before buying and it lasted for 30 days from memory.

Looking good Nath.
I think HDR would have been able to capture your sky. Its a bit tricky to get the right balance though without overdoing it.

Think I'll be giving this months comp a miss...I honestly can't find any accessible murals down here. Maybe I need to look harder.

hehe - Not sure Pharkus. I think I may have to judge and get winners some BigMac vouchers !
As you can see I haven't started another Monthly comp due to lack of participants etc..
Happy to run them but entries are diminishing each month..
Open to thoughts and suggestions.

You should have mentioned Big Macs earlier, I reckon that would have drawn a bigger crowd. I just like having a comp to get me to cart my lazy backside out there and justify my purchase of an SLR and to learn from others on here.

if i was organising it I would do it this way...

1. Monthly comp with a theme
2. Comp ends end of month and Either voted by Peers or professional
3. Winner is entitled to that month
4. Goes for a full 12 months.
5. November, 2 comps are run.
6. Final Winners declared first week of December.
7. Calendar of the 12 winners photos for each month is then created and can be bought by other members for the coming year.
8. Sponsers can be taken to help endorse the site & there products or give away. This will increase publication hence bringing members purchase price down.
9. You have 12 best photos for the next 12 months on your wall, toilets, garage or workplace.
10. WIN
