View Full Version : FOR SALE: WORK WHEELS VS-XX

Jig

I have finally managed to get my original Work Wheels VS-XX refurbished.

Reason for refurbishment: A company sprayed acid wheel cleaner and ate into the anodized polished lips and created some discolouration on the finish.

Who performed the refurbishment: Wheel Center Repairs at Botany. Wheelrepairs.com. Website unassuming, shop even more unassuming but work is top class. The people that work here are all ex-Simmons Wheels employees(processing+manufacturing) and have been in the wheel industry for more than 40 years.

What has been refurbished: the lips have been painted high gloss black(same as the inserts). The inside barrels have also been painted high gloss black. Matches up very nicely with the inserts as is.

Wheel Origin & Manufucturing: Made in Japan. Work Wheels is the 2nd largest Wheel manufacturer in the world. Quality all the way!
Wheel Brand: Work Wheels 3-Piece
Wheel Model: VS-XX
Wheel Size: 18x8
Wheel Offset: +51
Wheel PCD: 5 x 112
Options: Comes with 2 Center Caps. The VW cap and the VS-XX Gold Cap for extra bling. The VS-XX cap has never been used and looks oh so new and shiny. Wheels also come with its own valves. I also have brand new black rivets which you I will throw in for FREE to replace the chrome ones if you want to go ALL Black. That's 200.00 AUD for free. Just make sure when you disassemble the wheel that you torque it properly.

Asking Price: $3200 AUD non-negotiable unfortunately

If I sold the wheel as is, I would have sold it for 2800.00. I did not feel comfortable however selling the wheel with lip marks so decided to do it properly. The cost of the refurbishment on all 4 wheels was 1200.00 AUD. Should be a 4K AUD Wheel so a savings of 400.00 AUD. Brand new price of the VS-XX is now 4600.00 AUD.

Travelled distance: 10,000kms

All courier & shipping logistics and associated costs are the buyer's to bare.

First in, First out(FIFO) rule via responses on either PM or through this thread ONLY.

I love this wheel and hate to let it go. This wheel could be yours. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful restoration job Jig. I'll use those guys when I need to get my mildly bent rims fixed (you just have to hate Sydney's roads and pot holes). A question re the pic of the wheels on your car. What springs did you use for lowering and how did the car ride? I want to lower mine but I'm not interested in hiding the tyres up under the guards. Your's looks like its come down about 2-3cms. Thanks for all your post by the way. I find them very entertaining and love the quality of the work you have done ...... on the car.

Hi Stuart: Thanks for the compliments. Yes, these guys really know how to restore wheels. I have H&R Street Performance Coilovers. You can lower it all the way down to 50mm if you want but I chose to lower the front 25 and rear 30mm. No rub at all in front or back with these coilovers and the Work Wheels mounted.

Wheels going to ebay tomorrow. I am starting it off at 3400.00 and hope to get 3600 so I am now lowering the price to 3400.00 AUD here to be fair. Its a shame to miss out on these wheels. If no one bites, it will simply stay under my garage and will put to good use when my next car arrives.

Ok. Couple of bites but no line, hook and sinker as yet on these beautiful wheels. My garage do not need these and I want to see these wheels go to a good home. Therefore reducing the price to 3200.00 AUD. Last bump for this wheel and if no one takes them I will give it to my brother for free. This will look good on any Golf colour.

Jose,

For those wheels to look right they need big lips.
With the addition of big lips you can possibly move to selling on Ozaudi, aswell as the MB forums.
For that price there are plenty of other wheel outlets around the world (vortex classifieds, wheel whores to name a few) where nice sets of wheels in better fitment can be had.

They are an absolutely beautiful wheel, but lack the depth that befits them at the moment.

GL with the sale, hopefully that right buyer comes along soon and throws some big lips on them anyway!

I think Mal is spot on and the worst you can do is not try your luck there. Wheels really do well on OzAudi. I think you will at the very least get some interest and perhaps some serious inquiries.
Otherwise arrange a wheel party with Ross and Tendy and see if anyone finds some swap happiness. :)

If you'd prefer, I'm very happy to post it up on your behalf and a link to this ad, Jig.

Thanks Guys. I am not an ozaudi member and I dont own an Audi. Also dont want to be a member because I dont want to be one of those guys whose first post is a for sale item.

No reason why you cant have a 35mm lip added onto this work wheels or even a 55mm. Sure Bizi, if it is not too much trouble and I will owe you a very nice bottle of red wine. I have an impressive wine collection at my cellar down stairs and I dont drink anymore.
