I recently ordered my 5 door Golf R and waiting on a January arrival.
I am a little giddy with excitement.
I almost joined the VW fold 5 years ago but went down the WRX path instead.
I look forward to my first Golf and hopefully meeting up with a few of the Melbournites

Hey Bizi,
No sadly I sold the WRX. It was a manual Silver beast which I had done up quiet a bit...I probably should've just bought an STI but i wanted to play.

I ordered the Blue Golf with DSG and then loaded it up with options. I'm not sure if i'll mod it yet. Not sure it would pass the senate lol
The only plus about the delay till Jan is that I get a 2011 which will help resale in the future.

Thanks Burgs :) My only dilemma is making sure the wife doesn't want to borrow it all the time. She test drove one with me and fell in love with it as I did.
I think it took me about 30 seconds and i said to the dealer "yep i'll be getting one of these". Then the negotiations started...it was extremely hard to get rid of the wrx but i got there in the end :)

welcome buddy!!! im still waiting on mine... if you dont mod it, AT LEAST get a reflash. 0-100 in under 5 seconds =D that should keep the smile on your face for a long while >D>D

I am going to look into the reflash option for sure! Though stock i think it'll be just as silly :)
I went a bit crazy with the spec. I changed my order twice. I think my dealer was worn out with me by the end but i ended ordering the following:

A Blue (i forget what it's actually name is) 5 door DSG with leather, sunroof, mdi (and the ipod cable...apparently you have to order that separate or some b.s), the black 19" talledegas (thats what they're called right? lol), the reversing camera, my11 bluetooth and the ACC.

apparently one of the detailers scratched my back window but they've ordered a replacement and are swapping it in the morning before i pick it up in the arvo

This car is ridiculously good. I don't know where to begin on how good it is. I'm extremely happy with it. Only small issue is that the detailer scratched my back passenger window taking a sticker off so they need to replace the glass. Otherwise she's hot to trot.

thanks ∆pex. It's crazy cool! I wasn't sure i'd like it more than the wrx i had but far out it's so much more car it's not funny. worth every cent!
