Golf "R" Head Unit

Guys I seem to have confused myself.

Hoping someone can help.

When I ordered my Golf "R" I did NOT order the Satellite Navigation system or the Dynaudio as I could not justify the expense. Thus the car will have the standard Stereo head unit.

My question is, what head unit will actually be fitted to the car ?
Is it a double DIN unit ?

It would seem from other posts that the Sat Nav units model number is RNS510, so what is the standard unit please ?

All MKVI GTI/GTD and R's come stock with the RCD510.

Essentially the same as the RNS510 just without the satnav module.

gee that was a quick response. VW should have you managing production of their golf "R"s the waiting time might be less.

I notice there are a few places selling the RNS510 with Australia maps etc. If I bought one could I fit it to my "R" ? Might be a good hint for a Christmas present.

As long as you get an RNS with a GPS antenna (I'm guessing you're referring to eBay and this all inc the GPS antenna) then you can get it fitted to the car, there will be some recoding needed as well, but all fairly simple.

Yeah as stated a can do and really easy on the mk6 with the diff trim even I could do it which is saying something.

I got mine from eBay will look up the name at home. Make sure you get the C version though and not the B.

I am sure its obvious but why "C" over "B"? Is there some fatal reason or is "C" just better. Remember its going in ta Golf "R"

C is just the revised edition AFAIK (i.e th latest edition)

Got my brand new Version C LED RNS510 Retrofit Kit unit today, with Antenna, Manual, Maps DVD, even came with a pack of genuine VW screen wipes. Now all I have to do is wait for a car to put it in.
