I'm not sure if this has been discussed here for Mk6 but I thought this should provide some useful info for those looking to change / upgrade their interior and exterior light bulbs.
In my GTI I have:
Halogen Low beam - Phillips XTreme Power H7. PIAA Northern Star White & Osram Nightbreaker Plus H7 spare bulbs
Fog lights - PIAA Ion Plasma Yellow H8
High beam & DRL - stock Osram H15
Parker bulbs - stock
All other bulbs, interior and exterior - stock
Here are some of the sources I bought them from:

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Automotive-Light-Bulbs
http://stores.ebay.com.au/headlightbulbs
http://stores.ebay.com.au/Power-Bulbs-Direct
And this is Hong Kong based, cheaper but don't expect proper English response if you ask anything in more than 2 sentences:

Thanks Nat - very helpful - bought some Osram nightbreaker Plus for my low beams on your recommendation
Ive been researching interior bulbs/LEDs too for replacement too and thought id share my findings.
There are some very expensive kits sold by ECS and p2spec i.e. $80-150 for LED interior lighting - this is an unneccessary cost. IF anyone wants to update their vanity/map/footwell/glovebox/trunk LED lights, you can get high quality, cheap LED lights from a website called SuperBrightLEDS.
You will need 8 wedge type LEDs (2 front map lights, 1 for middle dome, 2 for rear map lights and 2 for the footwells) and 3 festoon types (2 for the vanities and 1 for the trunk).
Wedge = http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fspecs%2FWLED-xHP5.htm#photos
Festoons (unsure at this stage if they are 37mm or 42mm)

Bear in mind that the brighter you want them, the more LED's you'd want to get i.e. id get a 6 cluster for the trunk for max light and maybe 3's inside for a softer touch.
The advantage of this site is that you can also pick different colours etc.
Ill be ordering some and post pics once they all arrive (and once i work out what size festoons we need)
Cheers

Festoons are 38mm based on the research on the UK forum....
38mm are hard to come by... i am just gonna settle for some 37mm ones
OK got to the bottom of it
you need 8xwedge (2xfront map, 1xmid dome, 2xrear map, 2xfootwell, 1xglove)
2x 37mm festoons (3 LED) for vanity
1x 42mm festoon (6 LED) for trunk
to colour match best to get all cool white. Some go for 2x red wedge in the footwell. Up to you.
to purchase all of these, costs about $74 all up at superbright. $5.95 per wedge, $14.95 for the 42mm festoon and i think $12.95 for the 37mm

Thanks for the info guys. Gotta get around to getting brighter lowbeams.
i hope my nightbreakers arrive today ... im doing hunter valley drive on the weekend and its dark up there!
Might be a bit off topic but are the headlight globes really easy to change on these cars? had a brief look , looks like theres these rubber covers and then you can just take the globes straight out, looks a little too simple.
Some nice white globes would make a huge difference to a black car
The Audi I had was epically hard to change in comparison

just follow the user's manual and you'll be fine.
but if you have big hands like mine it may be a bit squeezy :p
The low beAms are straight pull outs and should be fine... The high beam and parkers may require a pair of needle nose tweezers if uve got big mitts
cheers...i'll have to see how my mitts measure up
So ive put in my osram nightbreaker plus low beams and they look nice but the parkers that are on at the same time now look really yellow sitting next to them... I think i may get a wedge led bulb replacement .. Anyone done this? Any codes thrown? And is it a w5w fitting?

This thread gave me the idea of some interior LED's.
I just got a couple (festoon type) from Marine LED Solutions Australia http://www.marineled.com.au/
Delivery only took 3 days.
