Well guys I can tell you after driving round the northern beaches of Sydney.
My White Gold "R" with the black front emblem officially turns heads.
Stopped and asked what the car was three times.
Seems to be the black front emblem and the absence of any other badges (as I removed them all) that has people wondering what the car is. Suppose the black wheels help.
All good fun guys, very happy.

Awesome looking R though, nice and neat.

Obvious questions.
What is that, is it a golf ?
How long have they been out?
Are those wheel standard.
lol. Nice

I have coded (well I told the dealer to) my lights so they are all out when the light switch is off. It is a requirement of the Australian design rules, that all light must be able to be turned off when engine is running.
Yes one reversing light is a pain, I found a mod to add the other reversing light on other side but have not got round to doing it.

Good one! It's only a matter of time before these questions get asked.

how about the DRL?
someone in my neighborhood pointed to the headlights (halogen DRL) and said 'hey your headlights are on' :p
even Yaris only has 1 reversing light, and rear fog light on the other side.
Hey im liking the emblem ... Did you do front and back? And are they plastidip or aftermarket badge?

looking good Chris,
I have also had a number of people ask about it. My wife gets asked questions all the time and she refers them to the forum, nice. I like the 'long starers'-you know the guys that watch it from start to when it's out of sight hehe I always make it worth their while!
hey the north shore rocks btw lol! Not many Rs there yet, too any beamers but they're coming

Those emblems look awesome... I got mine a couple of weeks back and just haven't had the chance to fit them yet... It's a wonder why VWA don't offer simple touches like this from factory???!!!!
Looks good Ozmale. Stands out very well with White.

Bill,
Not long after I ordered my golf "R" I advertised my WRX STI for sale. It was pretty modified. After 8 weeks I didn't even get a nibble. So I went to a fair trouble to return it to stock (with exception of exhaust). I also increased the price by $3000. I sold it in a week. Then sold all the mod parts separately and go another $2600. Lesson learnt. ALWAYS keep everything to return to stock.

Lesson learnt for 2nd hand car buyers - buy the modded one, better value for money:) haha

Yes I was there shopping. I also saw another "R" in the area as well at that timel, it was white but had standard wheels.
Chris

Yes I remember you. Young good looking guy with green eyes and a hippi style haircut. Sitting next to the 24 year old blond bombshell with huge tits only wearing a "g" string.
LOL are you kidding I am not that perceptive.

Well, been away for a couple of weeks on the short honeymoon, Margaret River, and took "Vader" (as it is now known thanks to somebody on this site) and was loving the drive all the way. Love giving it a little and overtaking on the open road. Was nice to park it on the main street of Margaret's, have lunch in a cafe opposite and watch people walk past and admire. Two actually stopped and looked in through the windows, maybe the Recaro's got their attention.
I did a similar thread to this just before you started one Ozmale, saying I was surprised at the number of heads that it turned, unfortunately mostly males, and that somebody had also stopped to take a photo. Anyway, 2 months later and not as many cleans as I was led to believe and it is having the same effect.
Was that you on Friday night Justin? This missus would not let me stop alongside you.
JUST LOVE IT!!!

A "former" friend called it a hairdressers car. That was before I took him for a drive. Fair to say he had no idea what the R was

Hahaha. Yes, that was me on Friday night. I was trying to remember when I saw you. Friday night .. was heading back home from the city and picking up some take-away in Northbridge on the way.
Noticed the Dockers plates eh?
I'm actually a member .. a little by default as a good mate of mine plays in the team.

Come on Justin, you have to name drop now, who? I knew I liked something about you.
Been a member for a few years myself, 17 or so. Had thought a change of plates was in order with the new car but think the dark purple suited the car.
Shame I did not see the car during the day for a close up. Must be Perth cruise time again soon.
