I'm a little confused with all the silicone hoses (blue hoses). I understand using them to join pipes, especially on angles as they allow a little movement but if you're going to go that hard (and pay so much cash!) then I don't understand why don't you get real steel or aluminium piping? (you could then do a high polish inside surface for better flow).

I suppose what I'm getting at is that Silicone piping is cheap and often used as a band-aid solution in joining 2 straight pipes to form a bend (say, to reach your airbox). In my opinion it shouldn't exactly be bright and colourful or be the star of the show. ie: the main attraction of an engine bay!

Now that's money. They've gone all the way, designed and developed real formed tubing and only used silicone to join the piping. Here too:

The silicone used in this kit are just couplers to join the pipes together.

It's done so there is no vibrations and rubbing noises etc.. It is very tight in some of the places were the pipes go and steel pipes wouldn't get through there without modding to much.. Plus the silcone piping is much lighter than stainless steel or alloy pipes and has less joins and less chance of leaks.. These kits are built to be drivin...
So I guess that's the reason, plus it looks shit hot..
You can't really compare german tuning to jap tuning, they are both very good but very different..

Spot on Anthony. Vibrations and rubbing issues was my guess.

I stand by the fact that if budget was not a limitation you would get rid of the silicone tubing and make solid piping work instead of using the easier solution of resorting to silicone. Would you make an entire exhaust out of silicone? What about headers? Sure they would be lighter, have less chance of leaks, but if designed and made well stainless and alloy pipes should not leak and better yet they do not expand or shrink like silicone can.

I suppose coloured silicone hose looking hotter than polished pipes is a personal preference.

And just for the record. I was not at all in any way, shape or form comparing German tuning to Japanese tuning. I was simply talking about the use of silicone piping as whole length pipes instead of joiners/couplers.

Mine will be a Black Scirocco R, It will the same recaro seats as the R32 MKV and will run 19x9.5 ADV.1 wheels with 265/30/19 tyres..
I can't wait I am so excited..
