Today I have the privilege to test drive the infamous SUGA Kreissieg equipped R32.
I wasn't expecting it at all today, a really nice surprise when Christina throw me SUGA's key to me. I was expecting a ride around the block.
It's been a while since I sat in the R32. Those nice white glow on the tacho and speedo is nice, and the blue needle? Don't get me started.
When SUGA started, you can hear the growl of the 3.2 V6 amplified by the Kreissieg. Fellow GTI owner, this is the sound that can never be replicated by our 4 potter. Then at idle, the sound is very civilised.
Out the driveway, onto the road. Driving normally, you don't get any droning at all. Nice and civilised. Perfect for the urban cruiser. Then when I start to step the pedal, WHOA!!! I thought I was driving an F1 car! That high pitch, throaty sound it makes. The perfect soundtrack to start a day.
Intoxicating really. Justin guide me to some of the roads around, and gives me plenty of chance to gun it a bit. Evil I said. The sound is soo sweet. Power delivery is so smooth and linear. Very different from what I'm used too. Very relaxed. Shifting feels different too. Smooth not abrupt. The PSS10 feels really good. SUGA feels really planted on the road. And oh, the 4wd system, always the envy of any GTI owner. Whilst on my GTI I get the occasional traction loss, it is non-existant on SUGA.
To sum up, feel very different to the GTI. Smooth and refined piece of machinery. But let your right foot loose, boy oh boy, the sound it makes. Really pure evil. Makes you wanna rev hard all the time.
Thanks to Christina and Justin for letting me drive SUGA today.
(sorry no pics, but you all know what SUGA looks like anyway)
PS: the sound worth every penny spent. Now back to my usual "BRRAP!"
