Post'em up! I love seeing what kind of cars people used to drive, and what they thought of them. It's usually a great insight into the person behind the wheel :)

I'll start:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2046/2494455428_52302dc1ca.jpg

VIRAGO
My first motor assistend vehicle was this monstrosity. A Yamaha Virago 250cc. I'm short so I felt comfy on it as I could very easily get both feet flat on the ground. It couldn't corner though. I ended up scraping the hell out of the foot pegs and often wandered into the wrong lane on long sweepers.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3608/3637314416_76389119b9.jpg

SRV250
I sold the Virago to buy this. A Yamaha SRV250. Same engine as the Virago, lovely little bike. I never got comfy on the bike though, soon after this I bought a car (well, my parents bought it for me primarily to get me off the bike!).

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2638/3971251932_6ef4abcce6_o.jpg

CELICA
This was my first car. 1st year uni, it was 2nd hand, automatic and I loved it. I ended up getting the springs cut (ahahahaha). The BBS wheels which came off a VR6 Golf (!). I painted the tail lights black and had a crappy custom exhaust too.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2463/3872150617_22b5044644_o.jpg

ALFA 147
I traded the Celica in on this Alfa not too long after I finished university. I did a whole lot of stuff to this car. Tracked it a few times too. It was a Selespeed (clutchless manual like DSG). I loved it lots.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2608/3944479866_b2d233c14b_o.jpg

R32 GT-R
I bought the GT-R whilst still owning the Alfa. I soon sold the Alfa though (I still own the GT-R).

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4029/4355627830_18c6203d5a_o.jpg

AE86
I then scored this fantastic AE86 GTV. Pretty rare, brought into the country for rally purposes only, and only for Toyota staff. It was going to cost me way too much to get it to the condition I wanted to take it to though so I sold it.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2802/4354884073_bba0868c45_o.jpg

EG CIVIC
I then found a really clean EG Civic. SOHC VTEC!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/4355631346_977546a4ff_o.jpg

MR2
I took my sisters car for a while too, an MR2 Spyder. It also had a funny clutchless gearbox. I also had a Kia Mentor at some stage, it was an attempt to stop modifying cars and just have a daily drive. I almost broke the car though and I sold it a week later (lol). I also had my Mum's old 318 BMW in there somewhere as well, too heavy and slow for my liking so I sold that quick smart.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2586/3872046843_054135fbe9_o.jpg

DC5R
I then bought this thing and absolutely hated it. It had decent power but no feel and look at it! Damn that's one ugly car.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3468/3872046723_86e86e0b9e_o.jpg

DC2R
I sold the DC5R and bought the real deal DC2R. Liked it, didn't love it, but I thought it was a pretty cool car, shame about the boy racer image though.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3231/2473593564_5ec1497109_o.jpg

MX-5
I then found a lovely MX5 Clubman and modified it with a lot of love. Massive love affair with this car. Have never driven anything quite as amazing. Super intuitive and balanced. Massive respect for these. I tracked it lots and it is the car that taught me how to drive.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1232/768084635_0682a37a35_o.jpg

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1300/768952110_efe57ae53b_o.jpg

TME
I also bought a fantastic Evo 6.5 Tommi Makinen Edition. The car allows me to comfortably push it to 8/10ths out on the track. Definitely like playing a Playstation game. It was faster than the GT-R and it was stock. It was so good I had to sell it.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1062/676850562_f905c75353_o.jpg

JAZZ
My 1st Honda Jazz. I bought it new and took it straight to the workshop for bracing parts then straight to the track. I tracked it a lot, not sure why, just loved having the foot to the floor 90% of the time on the track, felt great!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2318/2540622752_d21ceed1a9_o.jpg

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2085/2259605326_b83bfbd820_o.jpg

S2K
My old S2000. Loved it, not as friendly and fun as the MX-5 but it was a challenge to drive fast and commanded a lot more respect. Amuse kit, AP2 tails, Mugen exhaust, Mugen hard top too.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3258/3205389985_e6756d72a8_o.jpg

JAZZ
My 2nd Honda Jazz. Auto. Daily and carried my mountain bikes really well.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2595/3921525499_af157de820_o.jpg

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2800/4333650658_4408b88297.jpg

JAZZ
My 3rd Honda Jazz had a K20A engine from a DC5R Integra Type-R, 6 speed gearbox too. It was insane, louder than the GT-R. Definitely the craziest car I've ever owned.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4056/4275943408_a36ec6beba_o.jpg

ED CIVIC
Suga and I bought this ED Civic for her to learn manual on. The way I've modified it is more of a joke than anything else. It's super low to the ground, the wheels are way too big for it and best of all it's got a very strong B16A engine swap which makes it heaps of fun to fang.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4012/4374077774_d7d9f5184d_o.jpg

V35
And this is my last car. An auto Nissan Skyline V35 350GT.

Justin you forgot the civic we owned for 10seconds! .. and I have a feeling the Skyline would probably be faster than the R32 :(

Anyways...

Here's my first baby. When I look back on photos now I realise how much I was blinded by love (Intergra DC5). However, I still love the fact that she was white!

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/8261/dsc04760copy.jpg

After having a go at front wheel drive I decided I would have a go in a rear wheel drive convertible!!
You can see why I went with black wheels on the R32! Lots of good times in this one.

My lovely MINI Cooper S

Which I spent a fortune on modding

BIG Brake kit 8 Pot and Coilovers supplied and fitted by Peak RPM who now have the dealership for D2 Racing Sport in Australia.

Special thanks to Nick Peak who spent so much time getting the big buggers to fit, a 10mm spacer with a combined centering hub needed to be specially made by Michael (Machinest) and racing studds instead of the standard wheel bolts

Justin, that is one crazy car collection. Blown away.

I don't get the fascination with the X5. It's a stunning looking 4x4, actually, one of the best looking 4x4s, but isn't it overkill for city commuting? Unless you've got the whole family in it I guess. Whenever I see one, there's only 1 person in it.
You being sarcastic again, dude.

Cam

Wow Justin that is an incredible collection.
Johnny the mini is awesome. How long did you have the Civic for before you got rid of it?

-------------

First car:
92 Laser Ghia. All the options pretty much, power windows, power mirrors, 1.8L engine, sports exhaust (not a wanky exhaust but it had a noice note to it :P). Had just over 300,000kms when I traded it in. It was a great car.

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/1024/dsc01457800x600.jpg

Second car:
2008 Hyundai i30 SLX CRDi. Bought brand new, but had nothing but problems with it so got rid of it with just over 4000kms on the clock. Damn shame because it was a nice car.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/5201/p1010064800x600.jpg

Third car:
2007 2.0 TDI MKV.
Which I absolutely loved!!! Beat the pants off the Hyundai in every way.

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/8452/photomdkx.jpg

Current is the MKV GTI.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4067/4343354944_7b8c281398.jpg

And............I'm only 20 LOL.
If I didn't have so many problems with the i30 I might have still had it. Although Dad had his car before I got the i30 and the first time I drove the GT sport I fell in love with it. I think I would have ended up buying a VW anyway hehe.

And damn Cam you're on a good path there!!!!

1972 Volkswagen Superbug
This was it - it was my dream car and I had gotten it just like that at 16! Alas, life is not that easy!! I had a minor accident in this car and spent a weekend with the help of my lovely brother patching the front left guard with fibreglass (gahhh it hurts!!). I didn't have this for long enough, because it was a Superbug, it had the fat fat wheels and 1.6 engine. I had great difficulty driving this car. It was a serious challenge whilst also learning how to drive manual. But I loved it so so much. It was time to get my P's though, so onto my next....

2001 Mitsubishi Mirage
This was my birthday present from my dad, the car I would thrash like crazy and absolutely enjoyed driving. There were so many plans for this car, I joined JDMST soon after owning it and met some pretty amazing people that have shaped my life in so many different ways in the past few years. JDMST is also where I met Brendan (Serial Killa) my partner. Sadly, this car was stolen and it was a pretty public and painful experience to go through. I couldn't believe how much it hurt - I think it was because I was only just beginning to learn so much more about the way I drive and how to look after a car mechanically.
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5897/img0717pv8.jpg

1980 Toyota Corolla KE55
Ahhhh - back to almost old school! I bought this off Ebay for $1500 on a whim. I then spent a tonne of cash on its suspension and drove it around the way it was for a year and a bit. It was one of the most fun cars i've ever owned. Fun to drive, fun to own. It started everytime - maybe not the first time, but it started!! This car was also where I first learnt how to change a clutch with the help of a great friend who committed his time and knowledge to my car. This car was loud and FUN. It was a rust box though.... and I soon realised I couldn't hang onto it much longer, I didn't have the cash to look after it the way it needed to be.

2007 Mazda 2 Neo
I've been driving it for almost a year now and I enjoy it as it gets me from A to B with no hassles. No more clunks, no more rattles, no more questions in my mind "will this car start... please start?". My only issue with this car is its lack of power and handling. It will soon be time to upgrade again methinks!
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d184/shidaballerina/5207557.jpg?t=1266743071

That's it for now.... But soon... my love for VW's will be re-ignited!!!!

Howie

OK my turn!

Started off with a HONDA CIVIC ED 1991 HATCHBACK:
http://gallery.me.com/howier32/100104/civic-20--20last-20farewell/web.jpg?ver=12667361490001

In 2001 it was well worn and fantastic little car but it was not without its problems. I broke a radiator, head gasket, starter motor, etc. Basically all the little things that keep the damn thing running. Being my first set of wheels it was my ticket to freedom and at the age of 21 it didn't come soon enough! I kept it for a year because of all the problems... and swore never to buy a used car again.

In 2002: HONDA INTEGRA TYPE R (DC5R) 2002:
http://gallery.me.com/howier32/100081/IMG_5361/web.jpg?ver=12656884970001

Despite being disappointed with the severely watered down version of the JDM DC5R, I bought it new in 2002. I had spent half a year looking for a mint DC2R in Championship White but there weren't any around! Using it as a daily commute and for track work it was still an extremely capable track car, regardless of what the motoring journos said. It was by far the best FWD chassis on the market at the time. I loved it...

Actually, I loved it soooo much that I couldn't admit to myself that I loathed the damn thing.

The suspension was mismatched for Australia; the dampening was way too stiff for the springs and the ride height was just insane. Oh how I tried to fix it by slapping on HKS hipermax II coil-overs, putting on semi-slick tyres and trying to make up for the power taxed by 10% for Australia by modifying the intake but I was just too disappointed. I just really wanted the DC2R! (Hmm sounds like an echo in here, Justin?)

I put up with it for 5 whole years and sold it after deciding that the piss-weak torque and uninspiring chassis feel was just too much to bear. Another car by then had caught my eye...

2008: VOLKSWAGEN GOLF MKV .:R32 3DOOR DSG
http://gallery.me.com/howier32/100002/IMG_0102/web.jpg?ver=12665666390001

Upping up the displacement from 2.0L to 3.2L was always going to impress, but what really got me into the seat of this little hot hatch was that spine tingling V6 bark and AWD traction. It was more doughy and heavier than the DC5R but this was a car that wasn't pretending to be a track car. It was a grown up hatchback with serious ability. Whilst not as agile as the GTI, this car with all its standard equipment was actually a great bargain. The torque delivery is FAT and bulbous, hitting you with its peak torque harder and lower than ANY production Honda has or since ever made.

I still have this baby, but we needed another grocery getter for the household and having being so impressed by the VW stable, in 2009 the Golf 6 was just around the corner...

2009: VOLKSWAGEN GOLF MKVI 118TSI DSG
http://gallery.me.com/howier32/100111/IMG_0857/web.jpg?ver=12667405460001

Picked up new in 2009, I knew right from the start that this car was gonna go places. I was right. Having won European COTY and Australian COTY this car was the perfect everyday small family car. It makes a decent noise too: Low down supercharger whine followed by the spooling of that tiny snail, it's 1.4L displacement really feels like an atmo 2.5L. Impeccable fit and finish plus cushy but still capable ride and handling. This is a deserving winner.

And it was hard to let it go. After only being in our stables for 8 months we had decided on another car so I put the decision to my missus. She could choose the R32 or TSI as HER car... and it was done. She's now enjoying the R32 and I had already purchased another beast from a cousin of the VW group...

2009: PORSCHE 911 997 MARK II CARRERA C2 PDK
http://gallery.me.com/howier32/100025/IMG_0949/web.jpg?ver=12590285290001

Decided to help out the local Porsche dealership after the GFC... I bought it new while we still had the TSI.

That's all I can really say about this car because I'm still finding the words to describe this feeling....

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:>D>D>D>D:cool::cool::cool::cool:

I looked at that and went "I'm SORRY?!?!" I was already impressed by the time I saw the R32, you didn't have to hit me with a double whammy!

I'd love to get on-topic but it's really not physically possible.. I've had the one car, and the one car only so far. It's treating me well though (despite something breaking every time you look at it with your head tilted) so I don't think I'll be able to update this post for another few years.. And when that time comes, who knows, Mk4 R32? :)

Shida I had no idea you 1st car was a Beetle! How awesome!

SMG was good very fast but with one major problem BMW has a 3 faults and the car goes into engine protection mode that happened to us to often, just the door being ajard reversing was enough to trip it and on several ocasions went to turn right at the lights, engine went into protection mode again F..K that, they couldn't fix it either

Ahh Beetle great car except mine was 6 volt and everything like a radio needed a stepup transformer & battery under rear seat took me ages to get rid of the acid spill, water = aqua plane  Shida can you relate to any of these things or is your one newer?

I see you've been over on Watercooled forum, I was thinking of transfering that info to VWGOLF

I say this to myself EVERY SINGLE TIME I sell a Honda.

Hahaha oh how many times have I seen you go through that phase?

No more hondas for me means no more NEW hondas. They make nothing inspiring anymore. Everything from Tochigi went to the shitters soon after Shoichiro Honda died. The last true honda was the S2000 and it should've been axed in 2002, rather than letting it die a slow, painful and undignified death.

oh god...... Don't even remind me of the battery under the seat.. what was Ferdinand thinking?! WHAT WAS HE THINKING?! I had serious wiring issues with my battery and spent a great deal of time holding the wiring to start my car....I lived in a world of dodgy cars back then! My next Bug will definitely be a keeper though - zero rust!!!

Well I've got an interesting history of shitboxes...

I started off with this as my first car, purchased it while I was still on my L's. Had some alright bits on it but it never ran as it should have, I eventually got sick of the hassles and sold it. Had a rebuilt 13B turbo mild port with mild upgrades. The usual suspension mods, etc. Made all the power I needed at that age (and then some).
http://ichiyon.net/images/mycars/DSCF0193.jpg

When the RX7's engine blew up (surprise surprise, typical rotary) I needed a daily fast to get to work. Bought this off a mate from Canberra for $500. Drove it for a week then realised it sucks even as a car just for getting to work temporarily, so sold it for what I paid for it. Featured Integra wheels and furry seat covers. Yeah baby.
http://ichiyon.net/images/mycars/1.jpg

So as soon as the Gemini left I bought this off another mate, and it was a great little car. Near 300,000km on it but never left me stranded once. I even took it to Narooma once (about 4.5hrs to get there) and it didn't skip a beat. Really should have kept it a lot longer, I'd be rich by now. Came with BBS Rims, aftermarket exhaust including headers (but standard muffler on the rear so quiet as a mouse) and new shocks so it drove fairly well for what it was.
http://ichiyon.net/images/mycars/DSC00050.JPG

Then I started doing a lot of driving in traffic so wanted a lazy auto. With the RX7 gone, I decided the Pintara should go too and bought this - a 2001 Mitsu Verada XI. Had lots of luxury bits, was quite comfy to drive. I added a nice sound system to it, replaced the shocks and springs (which improved the handling bigtime) and that was about it.
http://ichiyon.net/images/mycars/verada1.jpg

Little things started to break on the Verada and the fuel bill was quite big due to a o2 sensor playing up, rather than spend a fortune on little bits I decided I might go for something smaller and manual. Bought a Nissan Tiida thinking there's no way I'd be tempted to spend money modifying such an ugly chicks car... wrong.
http://ichiyon.net/images/mycars/IMGP0849.jpg
http://ichiyon.net/images/mycars/IMGP1142.jpg

I spent a fair bit on it - AEM Intake, Full exhaust (including a stainless cat), lowered springs, genuine Work CR Kai 18" rims with Federal 595SS, Work wheel nut set, full stereo system, dark tints, debadged, and I kept it nice and clean as I really liked the colour. Only had 80kw @ the front wheels but that was ok for a 1.8L Tiida I thought.

After moving in with my now fiance, two cars became unnecessary as her work was within walking distance of our house. Since I was spending money left right and center like a retard on the Tiida for very little gain, I demodified it and sold it for a fair loss. I then transferred the stereo to her 2005 Corolla and drove that around for a good 6 months which was great as I was saving a lot of money. Unfortunately the company she was working for went bust and so an unscheduled job change came up. I figured that I would get something cheap and fun as the bug was biting...

We made a trip down to Melbourne to purchase this, it's a 1994 Nissan Silvia (S14) which was a personal import from Japan. You can catch the full story on this car *here* (http://blog.ichiyon.net/). This is how it currently sits (with newly acquired track rims fitted)
http://ichiyon.net/images/s14/30012010335.jpg

After that got broken into, I decided that I don't want to keep it at my apartments parking lot any more and bought a cheap shitbox in a hurry. I figured that I couldn't go wrong with a Camry but it sure has given me plenty of dramas. It will be going soon. Can't be bothered finding pics but it's a 1994 Vienta V6 nugget - you can kinda see it in the background of the above pic.

Late last year we bought the latest addition to the stable, a 118TSI with Sports Pack. We sold the Corolla and bought this in it's place.
http://ichiyon.net/images/golf/02112009291.jpg

So, now I have the S14 Silvia, a 94 Camry and the 118TSI.

A weird mix of cars no doubt

my first ride...

mums old 306 XSi... i loved that car, handled brilliantly and was so smooth. was dam tight inside and had a crap driving position but i still managed to get up to no good in it

http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=26084&stc=1&d=1210816072

next was the famous 2006 BMP 'lemon' GTI...

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2269/2330586602_96370c882f.jpg

it was pretty unusual as it had the factory beige leather interior. a lot of people didnt like the colour but i loved it! looked great contrasting with the black exterior. however the leather was the only good thing about that car. it was a total and utter lemon. after only 18 months of ownership i traded it in for my CW GTI

http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/kk63/zz2_gti/IMG_0898.jpg

im still currently on my first motorised 2 wheeled machine...

2007 Hyoflung GT250R. a lot people hang shit on the hyo but its a great bike, comfortable, fast (kinda), doesnt look half bad and sounds decent. i only have another 3 months left untill i can get my unrestricted license and get something bigger .... GSXR 600, R6 ??

Ah just found it WTH!

well on the old BMP GTI 'lemon'....

- new turbo
- new engine mounts
- new front passenger door trim (that took 8+ months to arrive)
- new front drivers door trim that resulted from fuel realease switch breaking. that took 2 wrong door trims to arrive
- entire computer malfunction with all the door modules shitting them selves
- new side repeater on mirror
- new PCV valve
- new fuel regulator
- whole new LED high mount brake light on the spoiler which required removal of the glued on spoiler.. which they then screwed up
- whole new spoiler because of above
- second new LED brake light for the new spoiler (see above)
- new centre compartment near hand brake (it jammed shut)
- new centre change compartment near gear lever
- new window switch on passenger front door (soft touch pastics fucked up)
- new handles on both front door trims (soft touch plastics scratching off again)
- 2 new rear tail lights

my new CW GTI has only had the following

- broken torque arm gear box mount
- replaced mechatronics
- 3 broken oil caps (no joke)
- new steering rack

Are GTI's this unreliable?! I'm dreading the thought of owning one without warranty now!!!!

well i dont want to put them down but we have had over 6 Peugeots in our familly and my GTIs have had more issues than all of them put together :(

my sister has had her MY06 GTI from new and the shes only had 2 issues, broken door actuator and a problem with the front fog light wiring loom.

as far as im concerned the reputation of VW reliability is a myth.... not that it would stop me from buying another

will have to find some pics... but nothing really special or modded.

306XT was a hand me down car from my brother when i got my Ps when i was 16 (2001)... i then got a 2nd hand 1997 Porsche Boxter 986 when i turned 18 (2003), had alot of bad luck in that car and eventually a tree landed on it, then I got the IS200 in 2004 brand new, it was a nice drive, and in 2006 i went and got a mx5 NC because i missed driving a convertible. In 2009 i traded the IS200 in for a BMW 135i and in 2010 i traded the mx5 NC for the pirelli.

Car i really miss is the Mx5, even though it was only a few months back, that was a really good car. I've also driven my dad's nb and na both were really good as well.

I also briefly drove a 1971 MG Mk2 for a couple of months as well, it was my mates, and he went overseas for a while and i had a garage.

Thanks 10D, G-rig. Is there any other color with Ferrari's? Red of course. It was a manual and loved it but the one bug bear for me with this car was I could not get the gears into the right slots as you need to get it in the precise slots and if you miss, you hear this clank off the gear base. It was frustrating. Rather have normal manual without the gates. People said your hands will get used to it but not driving it all daily took a lot longer in getting used to it. The idle rpm also sat at 1500rpm so you constantly hear the engine, just beautiful but yep, drank a lot of petrol. A gentlemen from QLD bought it and QLD seem to be the mecca for Ferrari owners. Must be the weather up there.

I have a soft spot for Saab's until GM ruined the marque. My Viggen was 240Kw ATW on a FWD and was fully modified by AbbottRacing. A gentlemen from Melbourne bought it.

The pug's were bought because although my wife had a driving license, she never used to drive so I wanted her to learn on a small car to lessen the stress. So we started with the XT then the GTI was for me to play with. Too rough on the roads so got rid of it. Then when my wife's confidence group, i upgraded her to the 307. She got better than went all out and got her the Cayenne. She loved it esp the height but drank too much, costly to maintain et al. She now has the R36 and is just perfect. She likes the Audi RS6 station wagon now, so who knows.

You have a large carbon footprint Jig, all those petrol guzzlers haha.

I love Alfa's. How did you like the 156 Jig? Lovely car I thought.

I have an opposite view on the Alfa's Justin. Great looking cars, best leathers(Italians know leather). The car was underpowered for a 2.5V6, the suspension crashes if pushed, the A/C was awful and the stereo was like a tin can. The dealer service cost the same as my Maserati and I could not figure that out. The turning circle was frustrating. Alfa's are famous for this. It drank and drank petrol like there is no tomorrow but it had a beautiful looking engine though. There are'nt many Alfa Tuners out there as well that really know Alfa's except in Europe. I bought the car out of impulse. I loved the red leather!

Totally with you Jig. My 147 was tiny but had a shocking turning circle. Yes the leather was awesome, interior was awesome full stop. HEAPS of rattles though I had the dealer pull off the entire dash twice to fix the rattles. Engine sounded amazing (better than it went!) and the Bose Stereo in my 147 was AOK, better than anything I'd ever had I suppose. Despite all it's flaws I loved it so much  I've driven a few 156's. I got very "in" with the dealer and they always lent me a 156 as a courtesy cars (that was a very nice service touch I thought). Love them lots, especially the look of the 156GTA.

Jig

That's some awesome cars Jig!!! Dang!

I'm a big Alfa fan at heart, love the Autodelta tuners. They have made a monster 3.6L V6. Not sure if you guys have seen it, but type: autodelta 147gta and there are some epics vids.

I nearly bought a 147GTA instead of my R32, but the 147GTA had these common faults:
- The front diff will explode(not a matter of if, but when). All the owners recommend getting the Q2 LSD upgrade.
- The early models had poor Brembo brakes which suffer from cracking, the later 05 onwards got the larger 326mm discs to support.

There were more, but thats all i could remember...I still really want one though :D :D

1st car, mk2 Golf GTI, I learnt to drive in this, was nice to look at but very rough around the edges being 20yrs old. Killed it soon after getting my license :'( Live and learn I guess.

http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/1767/dumped.jpg

2nd car, currently drive 2003 Pug 206 GTi, it drives very nicely, have had to spend about $3.5k in maintenance since buying it though, the previous dude did nothing for it.

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/2675/003qv.jpg

I really want another VW to play with, but really love Subaru's (impreza, forester and liberty downstairs in the garage), plus I have no money for modifying cars at the moment, don't know how some of you guys have had so many cars (looking at you Justin haha). The plan with the Pug was to buy it so I couldn't modify it. So far so good, I will probably keep it for another 1-2 years until I'm off my P plates.

Justin, your old 147 GTA look hawt. It was on my list of cars I wanted when I was in the market for my .:R.

My turn :>

1st - got this car for free from a mate. Great bulletproof G13b engine which I practiced driving manual in.
Swift GTI MK2
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tomtom_r32/gti-1.jpg

2nd - really liked this little Mazda, very cruisey laid back car. Looked nice for its time. After installing headers and a bigger exhaust, it was farting didn't like it after that. Bad investment!!
Mazda 323 Astina
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tomtom_r32/323-1.jpg

3rd - my all time favourite car, spent so much $$ in this and loved every bit of it. But it was getting old and things were wearing and didnt want to put any more time and money. Upgraded the turbos to HKS 2510's and it rocked at 250kwatw on stock ECU. Miss her dearly.
R32 GTR
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tomtom_r32/GTR_rear_view-1.jpg

http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tomtom_r32/gtr-1.jpg

4th - my 1 week runaround after I got rid of the GTR. Was in pristine condition. Buyer was impressed.
SSS Pulsar
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tomtom_r32/SSS-1.jpg

5th - my gf wanted one of these for yonks. Great car, head turner. VTEC was awesome, chewed oil like crazy. A lil impratical at times.
AP1 S2000
http://i535.photobucket.com/albums/ee356/tomtom_r32/s2k-1.jpg

Current love - Really enjoying this car at the moment, no plans for another car for a while....

Thought I might chuck up my ride history - though I don't have pictures for them all - only the TT.

1997 Mistubishi Mirage (Passed onto Sister)
2000 Mitsubishi Lancer (Sold in 02)
2002 Alfa 147 (When I met Justin - Sold in 04)
2004 Holden Monaro CV8 (Sold in 06)
2006 Audi TTQ (Sold in 08)
2007 Mazda 3 SP23 (Current car - bought while we still had the Audi)

I sold my TT because I was getting the train to work for about a year. We bought the Mazda for my girl to commute.

Since then i've been driving to work for the past year with the Mazda and it's been a great car - but I needed something new and i've got a new loaded GTI coming in 3 weeks.

Am still waiting on R pricing as I will most likely be switching - i've got 3 weeks to work this out so hurry up VWA!!!

The TT was modded - suspension, wheels, stereo + a few bits n pieces.

The old 3.2L V6 were a gem of an engine, not exactly technologically advanced but it sounded awesome, looked great and for me was quite reliable.
Its unfortunately the rest of the car that was unreliable tho, ie drivetrain, electronics etc etc.

Christ, 5 cars by the age of 21....Sweeeet.

1996. Mitsubishi Lancer Gl. 1.5l Carb. Awesome little car to learn on. Got some good rubber on it, handled great for a 7K car.

1999. Mitsubishi Mirage. Aqua green with evo body kit, 16 inch superturismo style wheels, lowered and a loud exhaust (Had aftermarket extractor but doubt it actually made any more power... God the exhaust was loud and drony. Could hear it from miles away.

2002. Silver 99 Mazda Mx-5. Brilliant car. Wish i still had one.

2005. 2003 Liberty GT wagon. Goes well once the turbo spools. Hard ride. Expensive parts and service. Wifes car now.

2009 Mk6 Gti. Nuff said.

edit: just realized this is in the appearance gallery. Will get some pics up....

Only just come across this thread.

First car was a 1987 MK2 Golf C, bottom of the range, no equipment, shitty blue colour and i hated it. Sold it after 2 months, but made a profit.

Bought a Citreon AX GT. Tiny 1.4 engine but was super light weight, lift off oversteer & had proper flimsy french build quality. Loved it, but ran it into the ground. (Picture for illustration, not actual car)
http://www.carsplusplus.com/pictures/1987/95215/photo.jpg

After i killed the Citreon i went to Uni & ran my second favourite car to date Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9 in black. Awesome little car, handled so nicely (lift off oversteer again :D ). Being a student i ran out of money & had a choice, carry on partying or keep the 205. Sold it. (Picture for illustration, not actual car)
http://www.playtoymotorsport.com/images/race_peugeot205gti3.jpg

Went for a few years without a car as i lived & worked in London then went off to travel Europe for a while. After i got back i got a sensible car....
An Alfa Romeo 155 Sport 'Widebody'. Super cool car. They're homologation specials for touring car racing. 1.8 16v engine that loved to rev, super sharp steering with only 2 turns lock to lock. Loved it but it was killing me by breaking all the time. (Picture for illustration, not actual car).
http://cdn.images.pistonheads.com/aimg/2756/2756948-3.jpg

Sold the Alfa & got bitten by the MK2 bug, so bought an Atlas Grey Golf GTI. Favourite car i've owned so far.
http://i525.photobucket.com/albums/cc335/walshy1981/allan_mk2-1.jpg
Excuse the ride height, it was in 'winter mode' and was usually a lot lower :D

Then the travel bug bit again so i got a job on the Queen Mary 2 cruise liner, travelled the world for a few months, met a beautiful Aussie woman & decided to emigrate to Australia. So the MK2 was sold to guy who put a VR6 engine in it. Then wrote it off....

That leads me to my current project/daily MK2 that i can't seem to part with. Love this little car but it drives me nuts :D

First car was a 1995 BMW 318is in alpine white with mtech suspension. Installed a Nakamichi CD700, some morel elates and a nice amp plus a small sub. Enjoyed that car. But didn't get it until I was nearly 20 - I was a poor student who couldn't afford a car before then.

When I was 23 I traded up to the Audi S3. 2001 model. Silver, black leather, sunroof. Great car.

Had that for 3 years and then bought the Golf R.

Second car was a 2000 model Silver 1.8L Corolla sedan again in manual, this one was lowered with rims and exhaust.

Same as this except with those minor mods.

Here is where things get a bit freaky, back in 2001, I had just pulled up into Auburn maccas with my mates after a random day out and we saw a black R34 GTT pull up. My friend took a photo of it and you can see my silver corolla in the background. This is infact the only photo I have of the corolla.

In 2003 I bought a black R34 GTT, it wasn't until a YEAR after I bought the car, my friend that took the photo showed me the picture and alas it was the SAME car we saw at the maccas 2 years prior to my purchase.

This car went through several stages of modification, including 2 bodykits, 2 intercooler setups, 3 exhaust systems and 8 sets of wheels lol.

Next was a V35 2004 Premium model with Brembos and 6 speed manual. Loved it, but after the R34 it felt very similar in the way it drove ie Big rwd coupe. Sold the car to a JDMST member after a year.

After hanging around a honda workshop for too long I really started to get into Hondas and bought my first Honda in 2008. A 2004 mode EP3 Type R (Face lifted model). LOVED the K20a motor, just so happy and willing to rev. Cannot wait to put one of these into a Series 2 Elise.

I had someone offer me a price I couldn't refuse so I ended up selling it then buying a 2004 model EVO 8 MR in Gunmetal with the optional BBS wheels.

Only owned this car for roughly 4 months, besides a few niggling issues with the car after I bought it, I didn't really connect with the car at all. It was just ridiculous how fast you can corner in these things, I felt the electronics were doing all the work and after awhile it became a little bit "boring". As Steve puts it, its like playing a video game in "god mode".

http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/4628/dhcp3.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/171/dhcp3.jpg/)

Now to finish off, around 7 years ago when I still had the R34 a regular customer of mine at work had a really mint EK civic with personalised number plates. We used to have discussions about what mods we wanted to do to our cars and I recall he wanted to deck out the EK in all Mugen gear.

I had not seen him for almost 4 years and it's only in the last 3 months that I have seen him again, he now owns a VW Passat wagon and he kept his personal plates from the EK. The night I picked up the EK I was rummaging through the owners manual and I see his name and number plates on the ORIGINAL service manual.

Two weeks ago I caught up with the original owner of the EK and he freaked out and could not believe the transformation the car had gone through.

So the EK and the 34 were two cars I saw, touched and admired several years before I even bought them.

Fate or coincidence ??

Nice Mark. Huge fan of Alfa Romeo's when they work (I had a 147 Selespeed and always loved the 156 shape).

And Thomas! Ahahha awesome. Here's a video of Thomas and I at Eastern Creek:

Most of mine I don't have digital images so in most cases these are images of very similar cars.

In no particular order, here are some of the more interesting ones over the years (heaps more I could share but not as much fun):

First race car - Escort twin cam in bright orange - very quick little car:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2644/5692159051_f9097300a1.jpg

Fave road car (loved it - only sold it coz my then wife hated driving it) - Porsche 1973 2.8 RSR replica:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2241/5692728406_943e2df1e8_b.jpg

First sports car - in my early 20's - turbo'd, caged, SCARY fast but early turbo unreliable - also in bright orange:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2295/5692158475_a548cb4762_z.jpg

The original Zed's grandson - this my actual car, last one before the Golf. Nicely tweaked to circa 250Kw, a very nice car down a twisty bit of road:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3195/5692728206_d74b83b14c_b.jpg

Capri RS3100 - intended to compete in it but swapped it in on the twin cam above - the TC a better car on track - RS was a good thing for its day though:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2046/5692728004_26b8da6e8f.jpg

Golf Gti Mk 1 - bought this for my wife when she insisted that I sell the Porsche - good little car, took it on a few big trips:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2491/5692727764_d0c9e334ba.jpg

Audi Quattro Sport - this is what I bought for myself when I sold the Porsche - Left Hand Drive (lived in UK for a few years) but what a weapon - such a fantastic machine and scared other traffic out of its way on sight!
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3483/5692157643_bee2b16b78_b.jpg

The Aussie "right of passage" - big tank, all the trick gear. Best fuel consumption was 6mpg - be worth a shedload of money now - Falcon GTHO Phase III:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3349/5692158009_9ef451deee.jpg

Caterham - built one as a toy in the UK - quick with a BDG fitted and quite a few trick bits -just SO direct and so ideal for the back roads throughout the UK:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3397/5692727714_f764bb730e_b.jpg

Subaru STi - my actual car. Modified of course and just so much fun - limits ridiculously high and hammered through the revs so hard on boost that I still have a habit of changing up out of first early. Made way for the Zed:

I got to drive thomas's R34 GTT before he sold it, fresh from the panelbeaters with full genuine BN kit and jet black respray. The car was about 90% complete in total (only little tidbits that needed to be done to make it "complete"...major one was coilovers and bride buckets if I recall correctly?). Such an awesome (and scary) car. He forgot to to tell me he had a screamer pipe and it scared the living shit out of me! (thinking back to it, still does!). Quality mods through and through...up till then, I've never met such a meticulous owner like thomas and mods were basically best of the best JDM goodies to make any diehard JDM fan salivate...even down to the smallest detail. HKS turbo and full engine rebuild made this car such a fun car to drive...but overtime it would have been a bit harsh to drive on a daily (which thomas did anyway! hahah!). I always said to him if I bought if off him, I'd finish it off and first thing i'd do is change the exhaust! As nice as it sounds, that fker was loud!!!!!! I miss that car also....was in a sad state of affairs when we last saw it on carsales (out at mt druitt, with the engine bay gone to shit!) :(

Audi Quattro Sport!

x2! GTHO phase III?!?!?!!!! arent they ridiculously expensive?! Wow...aussie muscle! love it! And that STI, club spec evo 3? I sitll love the Oldskill GC8 rexys......went downhill after the MY03-05 in my opinion....

Yep, the Quatt (short wheelbase Quattro - get it) was an amazing thing for it's time - WAY quicker than the Porsche but not as much fun.

Phase III - they were worth a whole lot less when I had mine - $15K was strong money for one then - wish I still had it - could set myself up in fine style if I did!

The Sti is one of the 400 four doors brought in from model year 00. There were 400 two door cars the year before. The club spec cars sold here later were ( I think) a Rex rather than a full blown Sti.

woops I didnt read the STI part? haha I guess I jumped to conclusions because the colour is so similar to the club spec evo 3. did you repaint it?

and re: the 2 doors....its actually 399 that got delivered if I recall correctly. One fell off the ship or the docks or something at Yokohama in Japan.... :)

Damn Tony, you have some great rides under your belt....A lotus elise or exige would fit well with that list :)

Really hope Audi do bring back the Quattro....Would be a perfect fit for a generation of petrol heads moving up from WRX's, Evo's and now Golf R's. I'll be putting my hand up thats for sure..

1st car: 1997 Lancer MR - Bolt on Turbo kit running a TD04. Lasted 11 months before i sold it due to Police/EPA pressure :(

2nd car: 1996 BMW E36 318is - had for 4 years, good fun, handled well and quite easy to drive as power was minimal (1.9L) Wheels were not to everyone's taste but it was my car and i liked them. Car was purchased stock - so much wasted coin went into her!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v714/nbendy/front-1.jpg?t=1306066165

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v714/nbendy/stereo.jpg?t=1306066662

Stripped it and was sold within 40 minutes on carsales so was quite happy!

3rd car: i was the owner of a MKIV R32 (DBP) for 1 night, before the owner decided to refund me the purchase price as he's wife wouldnt allow him to sell it and wanted more $$$ - I couldnt be bothered arguing as the whole purchase arrangements around the car didnt feel right and spotted a MKV on the net for marginal amount more. (MKIV remained on the net for another 12 months and listed 3k less then our original deal = greed doesnt pay!)

4th car (really 3rd!): MY07 MKV r32 3 door w/DSG. Flew up to Sydney couple days after MKIV fell over and drove this home - purchased stock, have played and never stopped smiling!

Will hand this down to the mrs in a couple of years and see whats available next, be intersted to see what C63's go for in the next 24 months...

Holy fucking god! So many cars! Justin I thought I was watching MTV cribs for a second with all of the cars you've had in the past LOL.

1st Car: 2011 Ford Fiesta LX

This was my first car I ever bought. It was fantastic in fuel efficiency, only having 1.4L engine I was driving all over the place and not filling up till next week. It had a lot of great features and I loved the small 16" honeycomb rims. Unfortunately I had a really bad accident which my car was a 'Write Off'. The bill was excess of $15,000+, due to damage to chassis from the front. The whole axle was ripped completely and the front ally wheel was bent by 20 degrees! Was very happy that I got away with only a saw thumb from the airbag. But was all good as insurance gave me a cheque to my agreed value. Decided to go with another car due to lack of performance, comfort and space.

2nd Car: 2005 VW 2.0 FSI

After my crash I really need a car urgently due to high amounts of classes and exams for school, so I decided to have a look at a used Volkswagen. I spotted this Golf at a Mazda Car Dealer with about 130,000KMS. All was good at the time because the car had full service history from VW. Took it for a drive around the corner and was really happy with the car. It was handling well, great acceleration and a lot of wheel spin - lol due to maxxis wheels bahahaha. Anyway put down a deposit down and then few days later came and brought the car. And then I joined the VWGolf.net.au community after finding them on the famous 'GOOGLE' search engine.

I drove it for a while, before considering mods and at one stage I wasn't even interested modifying it at all. I got a few issues at the start with the coil pack frying, but was covered under mazda's used car warranty program. Anyway I'll get to the point. After some time passing by I discovered a place that sells good quality replica look-a-like wheels. I came across some BBS CH Reps with a fell in love with and suited the cars colour very nicely. A few weeks later things turned nasty. Catalyst converter was damaged really badly and unfortunately wasn't covered by Mazda's extended warranty, which really sucked. Despite going to consumer affairs etc: to argue the point about the converter and not being covered by the extended warranty, I decided that I was just wasting my time with this crap! LOL so left it alone.

Last and all I got a Custom Cat Back installed for the car which sounded mint for a NA engine. Fuel though was going through really quickly due to the faulty catalyst and despite driving in sport mode and thrashing the shit out of my car. Finally car decided to come up with a lot of faults and engine not starting first time I decided to check the new Mk6 Golf's out.

http://imageshack.us/m/190/3290/dsc0032lu.jpg

http://imageshack.us/m/808/6681/dsc0083u.jpg

I decided on getting a VW Golf GTI 3-Door DSG in Gunmetal from a VW dealer, until my dad's mate stopped me from getting it. It only did about 30,000KM, but the car was clearly thrashed! The oil was so dark and burnt and the exhaust was just hideous! So I decided to just drop it and continue on.

The Mk6 hit my attentions around late Dec 2010 and reading really good reviews. I had a look at GTI's and took one for a test drive and also a GTD and was sooo happy with both. I was more aiming for the GTI, but unfortunately was just to pricey for me. So I had a look at the 118TSI GT and took one for a test drive. The acceleration was really good and there is soo much torque at low revs and it was fantastic for over-taking. Sport mode was just a killer though. Amazing torque, for a small car. At the time, the price was right just for me so I decided to order one.

And finally since Feb 11" I've driving it and it's all well. Have decided to turn it into a project car and have put some decent EIBACH springs and has slammed the car by 30mm. The car is low its awesome. Finally within the weeks coming up will be getting my ECU and exhaust. So at the moment I'm happy with my car. Although in the near future would like to buy a R.

Loved the AWD and very torquey motor, was a tad heavy though. However it was an exceptionally great handler and stuck to the road like s**t to a blanket, needed something newer so the R tempted me :)

My first car:
1990 Holden Rodeo.. Older than I was, my brother got it when he moved from the UK and left it in the driveway when he moved to Melbourne with a blown head, my parents then fixed this and gave it to me, probably to motivate me as I was a bit slack with my L's. I then took this car through my L's and did the 25 hours in 2 weeks (no cheating).
Performance, handling was terrible but I loved this car all the same, for downhill her personal best was driving up Dwellingup (WA) with a trailer holding 17 bikes and 17 people littered between the cab and tray. That and when we were out alone there was nothing better than being young in a rear wheel drive, the lessons that car taught me about how to save yourself will never be forgotton. That and being a P plater the rain was always fun. Oh and she also got from Perth to Albany (about 5 hours) and numerous other long mtb related trips. Wish I could have afford to have kept her really!
I sold this on for roughly the same as the head cost with just under 500K on the clock.
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i324/glf-455/Rodeocopy.jpg

From here I was either going to go for a Civic hatch after reading in a magazine about 2 beautifully done civics with engine conversions, or a golf.

Then after selling the Rodeo before to much money went into it, and riding a lot less mtb I though it was time for something smaller and more fuel efficient. I have always had a soft spot Golfs and my mates back home had some fine examples, so I started looking.
I wanted to rush into a lot of purchases, luckily my dad was there keeping me grounded and making sure I didn't make a mistake, and then my latest love of the MkIV 2.Slow came along. With the obvious things, wheels, suspension and who knows what else will happen.
http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i324/glf-455/test-Copy.jpg

Being the 2L and having barely anything to make performance without spending a tonne, it's good, I know I would spend a lot of money if the platform allowed but I do hope to do some travel when I finish TAFE.

And that's my story so far....

Damn...I'm going to show my age here.

1st: 1979 Mitsubishi Sigma - It was written off when someone decided not to give way and drove into the side of it
2nd: 1978 Chrysler (Mitsubishi) Sigma - was even the same colour as the first car (Metallic Gold :))
3rd: 1986 VL Commodore - One owner with average of less than 10,000km per year when I bought it. Lowered, tint, chasers and a stereo (Marty from FHRX knows the car and system)
4th: 1980 Suzuki Carry Van - This was Canary Yellow and nick named the Venga Bus. It was actually my other car so that the VL didn't sit at Holsworthy Station every day
5th: 1980 Suzuki Carry Van - What can I say the other one was a great car and only sold it because we went to the UK to live for a while. It was another 1 owner car in great condition. Bought it in 2002 and it had 120,000km on it.
6th: 2004 Ford Fiesta Zetec - Black, 3 door that was lowered with 18's, Focus ST170 brakes and a big box with a pair of 15" MTX subs in the boot.

http://i993.photobucket.com/albums/af56/zbeasty/IMG_1320.jpg

7th: 2010 Golf R - Getting faster with age.

My car history isn't as wide or as cool as some of yours but I'll contribute -

My first 'real' car - 2003 Mazda RX8

I loved this car, I still miss it, it was just brilliant fun to drive.

As i said in my intro thread, I was brought home from the hospital when I was born, in a MKII GTI. Subsequently over the years, for work, my dad had a variety of VAG/Porsche cars, including, Audi 100, A6's, A8's, 2x S8's, a 996 and a 997. Most of which I have spent some seat time in. ( we live in different countries)

I guess that formed my automotive path to come.

Car I learnt on: B5 Passat 2.8L V6 Tip - Mum's car.

First Car: 2004 MK4 2.0 Sport

Second: B5.5 Passat 1.8T - Bought this as the Golf was in the shop for some work/repairs, with the intention of then mum taking the passat to replace the older B5. Mum still liked the B5 V6 more, so ended up selling this after 6 or so months. Was a nice car though

Third: 2006 Audi A3 2.0T - First "fast' car. Absolutely love this car, still do. Sold it to a mate of mine a couple of months ago to make space for:

4th (Current) 2012 MK6 Golf R

My parents bought me the Corolla ($3500) in my last year of high school. This lasted through to the end of my first year of uni when it was written off in a smash (not my fault). I took the insurance check and with some extra cash picked up the yellow Camry (awesome colour) for $4500 which saw me through the last few years of uni and into first year of full-time work. I then grabbed the Vienta V6 ($9500) when the Camry starting leaking oil and was diagnosed with needing its head gasket replaced. The Vienta V6 lasted me a good 4 years or so until I decided to buy the Mazda 3 (my first 'new' car) for $26500 which gave me 5 years of fantasticly reliable FWD fun and pain free car ownership until I decided I wanted more power/performance - which brings me to what's in the garage today. The 2008 R32 from Tassie which was acquired for the very reasonable price of $35500 - excluding transport costs over to WA. No idea what will be next and I am in no hurry to change! ;)

I've played around with low budget, modest performance / car stereo mods on each of the cars - definitely nothing high end or particularly special, I just got a kick out of doing things myself and learning as I went. :)

Carmen is a she.

I thought the same with my EVO 6.5 and sold it after one track day (was just way too easy to drive it hard, harder than I've ever driven around Wakefield), but damn in retrospect it's just amazing what it's capable of. And being able to drive harder with confidence is just mind blowingly awesome if you think about it.

Most of the fun is in the chase ;)

Sorta like how pple used to dream about owning an evo, then when they get it it's too easy to drive fast thus lessening its fun factor somewhat as per what Justin said

I've got a different mindset to these things. E.g. I always used to play Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II on 'Easy' mode so I could actually finish the damn game. :D

Hahahaha I did that too! lol but have to admit, it did get boring after a while.

A good mate of mine had an Evo 8 MR and even he said he felt like it was too damn easy to drive and he didnt feel connected to it at all. I likened it to playing a game in GOD mode. Yeah you have all the weapons, you know you cant die and your virtually unstoppable. It'd be fun killing everything knowing u have all the power, but afterwards it'll get boring and there wont be any challenging aspects of the game. Compare that with you only having a pistol to fend for yourself, knowing you could be killed at any moment. Gets the blood and adrenaline going ;). If we liken GOD mode to the evo 8 MR with its track prowess, etc , then the pistol would be the MX5 with half the power, half the size, next to no electronic aids, but it would be so much more fun and would continue to keep being fun longer than the evo

No, its more like saying, "I'd rather have a relationship with a girl who occasionally fumbles her way through the sack but has standards, rather than trying to date a ganga and realise she's an easy ride for anyone."

Meh... I played Doom with all the cheat codes enabled and loved it every single time. :D haha

Maybe a Mario Kart analogy would work better? I.e. For me, it was all about setting the best lap time. You would eventually get to a point where if you got your power slide timing wrong or missed the ideal racing line then you would restart the course and try again. Maybe this is saying more about me then it is about anything else. :D

If I had the time and money I'd happily have an EVO MR, or Nissan GTR for that matter, to blast around the track and see how low I could actually get my lap times. I do understand the challenge and satisfaction associated with actually driving a car though - hence my love of a manual gearbox. ;)

I think the issue with cars like EVo's is that the limit is so damn high on the things that you are going seriously fast before the "fun" factor starts to come into play, and hence the consequences are so much greater...

It's why the early model Mx-5's are perhaps the funnest car, the things are going sideways at relatively slow speeds...

dainese
24-10-2011, 10:45 AM
Well, then I'd consider the Golf R easy then!

lots of effect from lower (?) amounts of effort from engine and driver. I think its a good thing, not necessarily a bad thing.

Evo's are easier to work on, easier to find parts for, easier to find upgrade parts, and more speed for less.

brought off a old granny which had done 45k km in dec 2007 after 1 year of solid driving the thing started falling apart...... never trust lil old innocent looking grannies....

replaced that with a new 2008.5 Astra SRi with leather, sri turbo rims, hsv vxr intake, k&n apollo enclosed pod filter, opel badging all around.

After around 10k km holden replaced the gear box and some things in the engine as they had done "missing" as they put it, then some other shit happen.
then mid last year the ecu fucked up the car would run as normal but only the speedo and tacho would work.... new ecu after 4 days of diagnosis.
at 60k km the rear shocks had gone according to two kmart tyre and autos and a independent suspension guy, but holden couldnt fault it but the car did feel alot harder on the road.....

and now onto my fav car my nice sexy CW GTI golf mk6
