All day, wow no way I can play for that long, nor can I play WoW just dont get it.... anyway......

Try like a 24hour+ session. I was shivering in bed with convulsions after that. Definitely won't be tyring that again anytime soon.

There is a lot of strategy, maths and co-ordination involved. Arranging for 25 players over the internet to push the right buttons is definitely challenging.

Back on topic. Is the sniping as bad as in the Counterstike days with 1 shot kills?

We were playing on the same squad yesterday.

BC2 is the first game since TF2 and BF2 that I've really enjoyed. I played BF2 a lot when it was popular but got fed up with the amount of hackers.
I still play Team Fortress 2 a little bit, but nothing like I used to. Used to manage a server and co-capt a team for GA ladder. Even played in ozfort and had shoutcasted matches a few times too. I know what you mean Pharkus, it is pretty hard work trying to organise a team. Its hard enough just getting enough players to be in teamspeak/vent let alone working on a strategy and actually winning haha.

Sniping is quite good in BC2. Its hard to get a headshot unless you precisely line it up (aiming higher to let gravity do its job)
I have had some fluke shots but overall I'd say the sniping (at present) is reasonably fair.

Bah. No dice for yesterday. Local EB didn't have stock and couldn't be arsed travelling out to get a copy. We found more than enough to do on WOW regardless. 9am -> 10pm. Wife was awesome, served us Maltesers, Chips, cooked lunch, then had pizza for dinner. All at the keyboard.

Just recently installed windows 7 (though judging by the work place pic thread most of you design/arty types tend towards apples) and lost all my steam games. I don't have a massive download limit and like the old school way of having a disc. Have to redownload CS now as well. My little brother works at EB so shoud be able to get it pretty much the same price. Which servers are you usually on Scotty/Cam, maybe we can join the same game sometime.

I agree with scotty, grab it off steam. Easier and cheaper.
If you have trouble downloading or don't have enough quota I can try and backup my game content and send a copy your way. But chances are you would probably still need to download a bit anyway.

Sir_camel, my brother has MW2 I haven't played it. Up until a few weeks ago he was glued to playing MW2 bit since BC2 has come along he has hardly touched it. He said he likes the gameplay more, the maps are more exciting (especially with destructible environments). He did say he liked MW2's weapon system more and probably a few other things but overall he rates BC2 the better game.

My mate has left his Alienware comp at my place for the time being as he has no internet. We may get together again for a bit of a LAN, might have BC2 by then. I liked the destructible environments meaning that it's harder to hide in a building. But then it also leads to those grenade spammers.

And yes pun was intended, WoW is an RPG after all. /nerds

As for cheaper, I reckon you don't know about special special discounts from EB =)

MW2 is a completely different game.

One is smooth, fast, spam. The other is calculated, less spammy, more tactical.

Playing Bad company 2 for some time now, K/D ratio still sucks at about 0.6 or something retarded like that. I generally like to rush in and flank the opposition but a bit hard now that they can spam the spotter key to put a big red triangle on your head. Great satisfaction getting 8 in a row (4 with Uzi, 1 with handgun to the head and 3 combat knife) last night.

I'll add both Cam and Scotty when i get the chance next. I usually play most weeknights except Friday and in the morning on weekends.

How do you find the controls? My little brother showed me a youtube video of some guy playing on PS3 or xBox and I have got no idea as to how he controls so smoothly on a control pad.

Ahhhh cool, I usually search for 3FL and play on them if I can. I probably prefer rush as I have played more of this game type than anything else.

Will do a search for GA -> Game Arena??? ones as well. But if you are online it'll show up in the friends menu.

Any idea if you can tell when friends log in once you are in game?

I get better ping through 3FL so play there more often. I also like the RUSH games more... longer and more map variety.

The controls are not bad at all. Once you get accustomed to the controller, it becomes real easy to play.

Although I did try playing it on my cousin's ps3 and it was a bit harder, which I think was due to the different controller. On the 360's controller, the thumb sticks are contoured better and the triggers are angled in a way that your fingers don't slide off them when pressed, so I reckon it provides much better control.

MW2 is much fast paced and action game oriented your moving around the map quickly.

BF2 is slower more crouch shooting rather than running and gunning.

I'm rank 13 K/D .93... but I got 75 Dog tags!!

0.93 is pretty decent ratio. I hate when a medic revives you just get score but you revive and die within 2 secs later.

And yes combat knife is probably the most satisfying of kills. Pity it doesn't make the CS type announcements any more.

BTW if any of you guys have vent it's probably better than in game typing. I use vent and can post up details if you want access to mine or you can let me know your vent details so if we are online at any one time communication becomes easier.

yeah vent is good. I normally use Skype with a few friends. Or the Steam Chat.

I played on Xbox 360 as well. Xbox 360 I would say is easy. The hitboxes on the Xbox version is much more forgiving as long you hit in the near vincity of the head you'll get them. You have to be dead on the PC version.

I've been revived 4 times by a medic hiding behind a wall. All 4 times the same sniper shot me and killed me. Very annoying.

Just maxed out the Assualt class and not that far off on the Scout. Will also lvl up Engineer next.

Unload all the ammo from that then just charge forward.

I should be giving up WOW soon. Our guild has finally cleared ICC10 with the help of the 15% ICC buff (this just got increased to 20% this week). I missed out on the kill and title due to being in honkers so will get that this week. We lost a lot of the core group that I had been playing with since vanilla, so the community ain't what it used to be like.

Concentrated on BC2 right now but once WOW falls off I will have my Wed/Thu nights back for other stuff.

Ahhh the unfortunate consequence of run and gun. I am impatient and don't like staying behind which is why I am prone to being hit from in front, to the sides and from behind.

It makes it all worthwhile though when you do flank and can clean up 5-6 of them before you run out of ammo or are noticed. Now gimme back my tags =)

Just so happens that map is great for hiding in bushes and picking people of while you move up behind them.

Apparently there is a way of turning down the graphic detail of undergrowth to make it easier to spot ppl hiding in them. It's not like the old CS1.5 days where you can tell someone is hiding easily anymore.

It's that map when on D you can risk sprinting down the left side of the mountain and come up from behind their team that is usually bunkered down behind the hill. I probably shouldn't have gone for more and just taken out their entire side, it was 6 knifings in a row!!! Certainly the most enjoyable part of the game.

Now to get a defib kill!

So I found out last night there's an achievement for killing someone with a headshot using the engineer's repair tool!!! How cool is that (for us geeks out there).

K/D ratio is now 0.70 thanks to Recon levelling and only 4 pts from maxing out Medic. Once, Recon is done I might go back to Assualt to see if I have improved, but probably not. Rush with NS2000 as recon is pretty cool though.

I've been trying to play BC2 on and off for the last month and still pretty crap. I am way to used to MW2 with a lot of silent running and knifing. On BC2, so far, all I can do is snipe really poorly. I'm not normally a sniper, but because I have no idea where players spawn or come from, I've just been acting literally as Recon spotting as many enemies as I can for everyone.

I'm on PC if anyone else is. So far I've only done Squad Deathmatch because I have no idea about the other ones.

@W1ngnut - What is your nickname for BC2 on PC, I can add you tonight when I get on. I usually play Wed/Thu nights for a bit from 6-8 AEST depending now on whether or not I continue to WOW.

As for spawn points just play rush. That is by far my favourite type of game. You will get to learn the spawn points pretty quickly. However, sometimes you do get the odd opposition player sneaking in from behind (like I do) to flank your team.

You may not have noticed either but in BC2 there is bullet curve due to gravity. If you are some distance from the target and sniping try to aim a couple of mm above their heads.

Ok, played 3 games of RUSH tonight... Did much better than I thought I would. Averaged 6 kills, and a fair few assists since I was able to get a shot off on a heap of them, but not finish the job. Got owned by people knifing me in the back, just like you said, but also had a lot of deaths from T88 LMGs...

Yeah the bullet + gravity takes some getting used to.
I know it took me about a week to get efficient starting off with the base weapons.

Hah..when I joined there were only 29. One of my WOW mates also joined in and we played from 6 - 11 last night. K/D ratio has now improved from 0.66 to 0.79, each night I am getting a K/D at about 3-4 now!!! We were absolutely raping on Nelson Bay map, 32-3 as defence camping near their spawn point.

We also had great fun as shottie/C4 recons. Rush in blow stuff up!

I usually use ventrilo to communicate though, but not getting into BC2 that competitively or seriously to warrant comms it's more a relaxing game than anything else.

Takes aaaages if you got off to a poor start. My mate has maintained 1.34 from the start due to having kept up playing FPS's rather than solely WOW and RTS games. I'm usually on a 3FL server if you are looking for me. Did you get my friend invite? Search games using "FL BC" (case sensitive for the 3FL servers). 1-40 are Sydney ones I think.

I'm also over halfway for Platinum on my M24 sniper.

Unlocked all the Assualt and Recon stuff already. The M24 sniper isn't that great good at sniper pilots out of choppers though. But it's slower and only slightly more powerful than the GOL.

The GOL zooms in a lot quicker.

Working on the Medic right now. Just unlocked the Type 88 and the Red dot Scope. Amazing the impact a medica can have on the team when you play it right.

All the top level players are Medics. The M60 is just an overpowered LMG I reckon, you can snipe with it if you are good enough and it's good enough to kill in 2-3 shots from it.

Staying out the back and supporting your team mates and dropping med packs, revives and also finishing off any enemies that get through, you should find yourself with at least 2k pts before bonuses each level. Silly. Personally, I just want to get a defib kill as a medic, always forget in the heat of the moment and just use the combat knife instead.

Maybe I just haven't got the hang of the GOL yet (more accurate than the M24). I don't seem to have trouble getting head shots with it.

W1ngnut - saw you briefly on last night. Couldn't really hang around with you though as my mate and I made a point of charging through the opposition. That first map was a total downer with our team just failing miserably. Second map we did much better. Yay for Assault spec with USAS shottie, C4 and extra explosives perk. You can blow an M-Com up pretty quickly if you get in like we did.

You did well Pharkus! I've been working towards unlocking the GOL sniper rifle. Got it mid way through last night and my k/d ratio jumped from 0.80 to 2.3 :D

Will start using some close quarters stuff soon now that I have the rifle I wanted unlocked. I haven't got the extra explosives perk yet though. Can you use that with the light weight option?

Good work on unlocking the GOL, it's definitely a lot more accurate. Though I now have over 600 kills with the M24 and will push for my second platinum weapon star with that. Should then be able to own some face with the GOL after that.

You should be able to get lightweight with additional explosives perks, they are on different lists from memory.

@mshl - Yeah checked up on you today, great work. I am fighting a slow slow battle, 0.84 up from 0.66 but that is equivalent to 1000 more kills than deaths I have to catch up on. Bit hard when sometimes I just charge in regardless.

Also, drop ammo box at M-Com, then load up c4 x about 7-8 run away and watch it get destroyed. Very quick to get one down like that. Usually rush the one that cannot have a building collapsed onto it. If you die laying the C4, just get a teammate to quickly grenade/rocket the M-Com, that should also set off the explosives.

5,167 Kills, 6,121 Deaths for me equating to my 0.84 K/D ratio. Even at my current rate I usually have 3-4 more kills now than deaths it's gonna take a long time to get there. Especially when I get frustrated with bad teams and just rush.

Also this just in for patch: Gameplay - Knifing people in the back works again (we backed out the change that we had done for Server R11)

OMG!? That was a bug!! I thought I just sucked at knifing!!!! So many times I knifed someone clearly and had nothing happen only for them to turn around and knife me.

On a side note, my k/d ratio is 0.57 overall, but yeh, i meant a k/d ratio of 2.3 in one game.

The knife bug was introduced when they tried to fix it cos ppl were complaining it was over powered. However going so meant that sometimes you would get the slash graphic and blood but no dog tag =(

It's not OP if you get someone from the back and have to sneak up on them to do so, they deserve it. Might be a bit OP if you are charging in from the front and just knife them then though.

I'm up over 200 unique tags now I think, including some level 50 General of the Armys =)

K/D going down cos I like rushing in and planting C4 on the MCom. It now takes more than 8-9 to blow one up now =(

just started playing this last week, the solo mode is pretty lack lustre really compared to COD4 but the multiplayer looks alright, once I change out my modem tomorrow I should get a stable connection again and start playing a little more in between uni, work and family commitments

I just use the following search parameters.

Rush, Ranked, PB..think that's it. Then sort by ping and choose a relatively full one. Gummybears was the last clan server I played on and pretty good. Might also want to search "FL BC" (didn't work post patch but should now). Or just add ppl to friends and join via friends online. There is a neat queue system now that means you can join the queue of a full server. You usually get in at the end of a round and then you can play with ppl you know.
