Hi There,

Forgive me if this is a silly question as I am brand new to this.
I have just purchased a 1999 Cabriolet MK4, it looks pretty good, the engine is a 1.8L & I have just put some new spark plugs in, & I always use premium petrol. It still doesn't seem to have have a lot of guts, it tends to struggle up hills a bit.
Is there anything I can do to give it a bit more "oomph"
I am prepared to spend $ ($1-2K) if it will produce results
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Vince

Nothing silly about asking question. I suppose there's not much you can do. Turbo charging that engine seems to be the best bet. Intake or exhaust will be a waste of money. It should not struggle that much up the hill. Maybe an engine clean might be in order?

Thanks very much for that. Off the top of your head how much would both of those options cost?

Thanks again

Youre going to struggle to get extra power out of that engine without spending a lot of money. Id look at saving up a few grand and doing a 1.8t swap. If youre mechanically enclined it wouldnt be stupidly expensive.
