anyone know what the thread pattern is on a 1999 VW Golf manual?

is it any of these??

8x1.25
10x1.25
12x1.25

The knob doesn't actually screw on/off from what I've been able to tell, but rather clips on, and is held on firmly with a metal "pinch" clip that locks it in place.

The Bentley manual supports this.
