Hi Guys, Just thought id do up a quick Vid on my tyre black secret, i have been using this method for many years now and haven't found anything better, especially for the cost. Sorry about the sound, it's a bit quite. :)

I use a different product but exactly the same method, except I'm on my knees as I can't sit cross legged in my garage. The only thing with this method is to make sure the bottom of the tyre gets a full coating. Great vid.

Nice work Chris.
I'd have to 'lay/sit down' on the concrete. I cannot kneel due to my titanium left knee.
How long does the Silicone Gloss last (in normal conditions)?

It lasts quite a long time, normal road use about 2 weeks, even if it rains it will be good for a week or more as the water and dirt runs off.

Good vid and I use the same method - there are also several sponges available precut that are shaped to the tyre profile which are handy.
Sorry to be a fly in the ointment though but I recall reading somewhere that Silicone products are really bad for rubber due to their habit of leaching some of the tyre chemicals from the tyre?

All good, i have been using this stuff for about 15 years on motorcycle rubber pats and on car tyres and never had an issue. The CRC formula is specifically designed for use on rubber and other surfaces, i wouldn't use any other Silicone product.

nice one frazza I'll give it a go, just want to ask how long you'd wait before driving as I always seem to buy the product that sprays the tyre shine up onto the body of the car even after 20 hours or so of drying time.
cheers

Nice! Thanks for that mate.
I've always used normal Tyre Shine, but it simply doesn't last at all. Is the product quite readily available? Might check Super Cheap on the weekend!

Yeah most auto stores have it and if you put it on just like in the vid you can drive straight away and it doesn't fling off :D

Just checking in and giving thanks mate. On your recommendation I decided to give it a shot, and it's A+! The tyres still look great after 2 weeks.

One thing that I do is to do the tyre and roll the car 18" as you then get the bit on the road properly. It also means you dont get marks on your concrete. Good for the older members with failing knees as you can use a small stool to sit on. As I have a crushed gravel drive, its no fun kneeling on it.
Thanks for the vid Frazza.
Will pick some up and give it a go next time I wash the car.
:)
I've used quite a few different tyre shine products. Currently on Duragloss Tyre Shine which is fantastically black and shiny, but flings off even after a few hours drying.
So annoying. I think the silicone solution will work really well.
Cheers!
