Hello guys,
As some of you guys might know, I got into trouble by the law for driving an illegal car in a provisional license. However, because I'm the backbone 'driver' of the family (taking my mum to the shops, driving/picking up my brother to the station, driving to uni, etc) I need another form of transportation in 4 wheels.. (at least till my suspension period is over)
The bad news is the GTI has got to go unfortunately.

The detail is as follows;
2005 MKV GOLF GTI - DSG (almost 80,000kms mostly highway driving)
- OEM diverter valve replaced to the OEM 'D' Series diverter valve
- Car serviced regularly (3 services in 2 years of ownership, recently done a DSG service and a major service by CityPerformance at 73,800kms)
- Exterior paintwork is excellent and frequently detailed by hand/machine. Dan from DMS detailing did a stage1 last year also. A few stone chip damages on the bonnet from all the highway driving.
- Curb marks on the back left-hand side of the wheel, and minor curb damage on the front left-hand side. (will post pictures if requested)
- Interior is also in good nick. A few imperfections and chips around the dash and the dsg paddle (bought it like that)

This car has been much loved and maintained by the family. And its seriously a regretful sell .. stupid laws... The car actually runs and feels much better than when we first purchased it.

I'm looking at $23,500 or ono!! (PRICE REDUCED)
PM or msg me here if you are interested.

Sad to see it has to go, i have no idea how a p plater can drive a new ford or holden with more power and is about 10 years more primative and you cant drive a gti :(

Yeah the laws are so incredibly stupid for p plate drivers. I was lucky enough to get off my greens a few months back.
Sad to see you have to sell it mate
:(

I hope it goes to a good home.

hahha.. thx guys, I've got pulled over by cops and undercover ones many times.. Never once they pointed out this issue.. I got confident through time up until now LOL.

arghhh... and I can't drive for 3 months :(

It's obviously a failing system, RTA can't even confirm to me that the 118tsi is 100% legal for me to drive.

Paolo

say do the trade for the skyline so we keep both cars within the same community >D
has enough go, p late legal and has the 350z engine? strange because i still see p platers driving hotted up cars

Cam

The RTA are hopeless.
:(

What annoys me more, is that they won't let younger drivers into safer cars such as the GTI, 118TSI etc yet they can hoon around in bloody Commodores and Falcons which still have quite a bit of power and aren't as safe.
I mean its not like every P plater is going to be able to afford a GTI or 118 anyway, they aren't cheap cars.

A shite system for sure, instead of screwing around with ridiculous laws I still think they should make it mandatory for P plate drivers to do a defensive driving course or two as part of progressing to the next license. When I went for my full license a third of the questions were all statistics based! "What % of crashes occur on country roads, during the day...in fine conditions" was one of them....I mean hows that going to help any body.

Argh...just makes me angry...lol I'll stop ranting and going off topic in your thread. Sorry
:p

"Novice Driver - High performance vehicle restrictions

Summary

This page details the Roads and Traffic Authority's publication Novice Driver - High Performance Vehicle Restrictions as provided for under Clause 32 of the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation 2008.
The vehicles listed as 'Prohibited Vehicles' are high performance vehicles for the purposes of Clause 32 and may not be driven by the holder of a provisional licence. These vehicles are in addition to the prohibited vehicles that have eight or more cylinders or are turbo or supercharged.

The vehicles listed as 'Exempted Vehicles' are not high performance vehicles for the purposes of clause 32 and may be driven by the holder of a provisional licence.

Novice Driver - High Performance Vehicle Restrictions
P1/P2 licence holders are also restricted from driving the following 6-cylinder vehicles:

BMW M and M3.
Honda NSX.
Nissan 350Z and 370Z (including private or 'grey' import variants eg. Infiniti G35, Infiniti G37, Skyline 350GT (V35), Skyline 370GT (V36)).
All Porsches from 1994 models onwards (except diesel).
Mercedes Benz SLK350.
Annex A listed below forms part of the publication and provides more detail about the listed prohibited models."

It's not an urgent sale, as my dad will be using the car next months anyway.. + we might consider a brand new 118 tsi (2months +) waiting list.
I'll intensify the advertising later on next months (ie; other forums and carsales)

I wouldn't. It's worth 7 points ;)

I've lost my licence for something stupid, this law is equally as stupid but as it stands its not in your interests to do so.
