Swapped 'em round. My wife has a new(ish) job that sees her car parked in our garage most of the time, so I figured it was only fair I stole her wheels, haha.

I'm after some black OZ Ultraleggeras for the S3 which might have to wait quite a while as we're (hopefully) about to embark on some serious house renos/extension.

Yeah, it's pretty good. The interior plastics, especially, are in very good condition. It has been in a front-end stack I'm fairly sure, which wasn't communicated to me when I bought the car last October. And mechanically it has been a bit of a shitfight in the time I have owned it, but it's a barrel of laughs to drive and I've long wanted a Mk1 GTI, so it's been on the "to do" list for some time.

You can see a few more pics HERE (http://27772.smugmug.com/Cars/Mk1-GTI).

Nah, just standard. The Mk1 was the best performance mod I could buy for the S3, haha. Now, if I ever start to think the S3 is slow I simply take the Mk1 for a drive. Going up Black Mountain, for example, is such a huge contrast. In the Mk1 I can hold it flat for most of the way up. The S3 on the other hand, needs careful throttle control right from the first corner!

The S3 might see a simple ECU reflash and coilovers, but that'd be about it. And even that won't happen until our house mods are done.

Only a car nut could refer to home renovations as "house mods". Love it!

I've seen the plans, he is planning a 4" drop and a new angualar roof body kit - hefty amounts of bling and an ECU (electric cooling unit) upgrade in the process. I am not sure about the 'wheel'ybin choice, green is so yesterday.

Now the MK1 is running, we can finally take them both out for a run!
