IMO, they look great as they are.
Black on Black doesn't work IMO - makes the car look rice/cheap. Gunmetal should be ok though.
Black with a red lip will look....words fail me.

Yeah looks perfectly fine as is.
Agree black on black is a bit too much..
Gun metal would be good and would match the grey plastic on the front.

Perfect as is - could try and Pshop matte black but it is nice having some contrast.

Vote for fine as is here too.
BUT, if you want it to pop and scream out at ya, I don't think you can go past powder coating them red (as in, the entire face and rim) to match the red lipstick around the GTI grille, and maybe w/ black sides on the spokes :)
Is there a bigger pic somewhere? I can photoshop it onto there if you want.

Aw come on guys! Did you see this hunk? And his spunky babe? Man he would totally suit black on black!
I'm a huge fan of black on black. It takes balls to do it. Here's some inspiration for you MK:

Now that looks evil... ;)
Black on black looks good but you need to have a car that can pull it off. MK6 is pretty new, untested so if you do decide to go black on black, you will be one the first. Personally, if you want to go black on black, choose a different wheel so that it stands out a bit more. Otherwise, I do like the finish of your current wheels. You may want to try painting the inserts though and leave the spokes as is. Dont know, hard to tell. Need a bigger picture and some pshop skills to decide.

Cheap and ricey? Ummmmmmm.
Hard to look cheap with a $200,000+ car :)
interesing to see black is an option on the new golf R. (unless I misread that)
My vote is for green. Flourescently so. ;)
Mainly because it isn't my car, and the powdercoating palette is very limited the last time I looked.

I think black by its self would look fine, you could try that spray on product Byza used its reversable if you dont like the result (just to give you an idication before you paint the wheels.

Anything other than silver/gun metal could look 'cheap' IMO. Depends how different you need to be (& peer pressure).

^^ True. I don't think it needs to be done. But RS4 wheels are nice but not so individual, if this makes htem more striking and he likes hte look of it, go for it? YEs different doesnt mean looks good and you still need to maintain a bit of civility, but staying in the mould gets boring after a while right?
It is also a brand new 50k car...

I feel it will need to balance out if i do the wheels red.
can you try a gloss black also on the wheels?

it is basically spray on rubber. Do multi coats thick enough and it apparently will peel off.
Has a few colours, although no fluro green from memory. Hahaha ;)
people dip tool handles in it (in normal paint tub form) to give a rubber coating/ hand grip.

All of those cars which were used to highlight car black wheels on a black car are in a completely different league. Of course we're going to 'like' them J. Even then, I still prefer their original style in at least half of those examples. :)
Why did you buy a black car if you wanted to stand out? If it's visual punch you're after, a crazy vinyl wrap maybe? LOL
Got Black cause my old car was white lol

I need a higher res pic to do the door handles, and black wheels. There's not enough info there to change them without losing all detail. If you've got a high res side on pic, upload to www.imageshack.us and post the link here :).

Have you thought about how you need to keep your tyres blacked out as well for the reall black on black look?
Have a look at some of the pics that Justin posted, black on black looks pretty pox in my opinion when your tyres haven't been maintained/lose their "blackness" and start looking a tired grey/brown colour. That is the one sticking point for me that doesn't make it work.

ill vouch for plasti dip and almost the aussie spokes person for it LOL.... i have had it on my wheels for over 12 months and still looks good...quite a few people have used it after seeing my car and been very happy... its a matt finish which i was chasing rather then gloss... i think gloss black can make rims look cheap as it has been played out quite a bit but with the matt finish, you get a contrast...
you can get plasti dip in different colours... and there is red..... its $25 a can, easy to do and fully reversable... gives you best of both world because if you get easily bored, peel it off and back to the original look you were chasing.... im almost out of the black on black look but it does look good... sorry to bust your thread but this is mine if you havent seen it....

Hi Kevin,
I wouldn't powder coat your wheels, I would take them to a good painters and have them painted and baked..
I had my 18inch BBS powder coated and the guy couldn't get the finish perfect.. I'm not happy with them at all..
But I'm getting my 19inch BBS painted at http://www.jadeauto.com.au/ so I will see the difference..

I had black on black with my old Honda Jazz too (I have had 3 Honda Jazz's ). It's no exotic, but damn it looked better than most black Jazz's out there (in my opinion of-course, which is what this thread is all about).

I sold it recently Anth. It was the loudest car I've owned so far (it had a varex exhaust that you could quieten at the push of a button). On VTEC the thing sounded like an F1 car. The heavy clutch made it crap as a daily, no air-con either (but I was working on getting it working). It could never get traction in the 1st 2 gears, frustrated to death I sold it.

Byza,
How resistant is this plasticdip against scratches and flaking off? I am thinking that it might be the perfect covering for a set of speaker cabinets I want to restore [if it doesn't peel off too easily].

What material is the speaker cabinets made out of? if it is pine/timber i dont know how it will hold... It has been perfect on my wheels for over 12 months but when i got new tires, its slightly lifted in spots when they beaded the tyres on the rim...its warn very well and still looks good... i believe it is more designed for metal objects... alot of the 4wd guys use and even spray panels so when they are out bush, tree etc dont scratch panels...

The cabs are made of MDF. It currently has a Nextel paint finish (which has a matte velvetty finish). The company that still
makes the paint won't sell just one tin of it to me. So I have to look for alternatives.
These are what the speakers look like but mine are a crappy Taupe/Tan colour and I want to change it to Anthracite black (like the ones in the pic) or perhaps even White.
