When I was young my best mates dad ordered a heap of sand to be used to lay pavers out the back of his house....we thought it would be fun to put a heap of bungers in the sand and blew them up only to have a cloud of sand moving through the street. Needless to say, his dad wasn't impressed but we managed to get out of it by saying some other kids did it while we were out :p

6. My cousin and I took someones letterbox off its mount and strapped a firework to it and shot it down the street - in hindsight, not a good move haha

Holy moley there are some really interesting stories and facts in here.
Thanks for sharing everybody!

I'm boring in comparison to most people lol.

1) I'm 20, turning 21 in November
2) Born in Wollongong, lived in Illawarra and South Coast all my life.
3) Never been on a plane or overseas.
4) Hate spiders and creepy crawlies.
5) Get along well with most people, am easy going, not a huge party goer, prefer to stick by myself or with close friends or family
6) Have owned 3 cars previously. 92 Laser Ghia, New CRDi i30, Comfortline 2.0L MKV Golf and now onto my GTI which I'll be holding on to for a looooooong time.
7) I'm a nerd. Love computers, technology and have done since I was about 12!
8) Crap at maths. Good at problem solving for computer/network/server related things but for some reason I'm not great at doing maths on the fly. If I sit down and think about it I can eventually figure it out....but frustrates me so much.
9) I really dislike people who take credit for other people's work, one of my biggest pet hates.
10) Single.

1. I'm 30 years old (31 this year). Those that saw me at the meet at Thornleigh would probably have thought I was under 20 or close to. (white skyline, wearing the street fighter tshirt)

2. I've owned my Skyline outright for 7 years (bought it when there was no stigma attached to them. Older people would often talk to me about the car at the petrol station, enquiring what it was, and how nice it looked....those days are over now though :( ). It's seen 274rwkw on a dyno dynamics dyno, and has enough torque to light the rears whenever I want...but it's quiet, and doesn't look like much. Still has the stigma though :(.

3. The bank owns my house, and I detest my job because of it.

4. I work for a massive corporation. Myself and my team designs, implements, and innovates standard operating environments for several clients.

5. I love art, I love producing art, and am a published photographer. Currently freelancing, doing photography and photo retouching in my spare time.

6. I'm a console gamer. After nearly 10 years without playing a single game my girlfriend introduced me to Forza 2 on the xbox 360. There was no turning back. I've networked every room in my house w/ gigabit ethernet, the lounge room has 2 LCD's, 2 xbox360's and 2 PS3's all networked and online, and my home office use to have a 360 too.

7. I'm diagnosed mild obsessive-compulsive. I actually have had severe anxiety attacks due to it. I have a need to know what's going on around me, crowds get the anxiety up.

8. I've lost it on turn one at Eastern Creek at high speed. Nearly wet my pants, and forgot to clutch it. I was left facing the wrong way on the grass right at the side of the exit of turn one with an engine that wouldn't turn over because it was so hot. When the first car came by very fast and squirming around a little I actually started praying at that point, "please start please start... please no one hit me at speed... please!! WHERE ARE THE FLAG MARSHALLS!@$!$!" lol

9. My girlfriend's name is Mandy Moore.

10. I was introduced into the world of Golf GTI's by my mate that bought a red 3 door mk5 w/ DSG, and immediately modified it with a whole heap of APR parts, and Oettinger wheels and bodykit. After a few months of being complete it's rear end was eaten off by a bus. He is now desperately awaiting the announcement of the 3 door Golf R. I was shocked at the quality and the feel of the drive of that car. Made me want one.

wilchelus is my gamertag. Add me. I haven't turned on the 360 in awhile though, and haven't played Forza3 since I hurt my back about 4 weeks ago...also don't have GOLD atm. But, I might soon :). I use to race with a group of guys. Had heaps of fun. We could all actually drive, and got over the accidental mid corner bumps by announcing "inside" or "outside" if we were making a move. (Hate that you can't look left or right when using the wheel)

Some very interesting and funny responses.

Thanks everyone for sharing !

1. I am an 82 model (turning 28 this year). Born in Newcastle and moved to Sydney at the age of 2.

2. Hold a 2nd Dan blackbelt in taekwondo.

3. LOVE snowboarding.

4. Played golf since the age of 7 but never played seriously. Thats about to change as I am now playing every week and aim to play off single figures in 12 months time.

5. I study Statistics. Yes pure maths degree

6. My first car was a 99 model green corolla which I totalled. Someone rear ended the car HARD, as a result the car flipped length wise and landed on a fence upside down, one of the fence posts went through the rear window. Hanging upside down and undoing your seatbelt is a sensation I NEVER want to experience ever again. People driving past were kind enough to come to my aid and pull me out of the car before the emergency crews arrived.

7. Back in 2003 I had an OMFG im going to die moment when I was "abseiling" down a small cliff face next to a waterfall in order to get to a ledge to jump into the water below. As I was perpendicular to the cliff face the rope snapped and my heart skipped a beat before I plummeted down to the water below yelling out "OH SHIIIIT". My friend recalls it as one of the funniest moments of physical humour he has ever witnessed. I dont see the funny side :p

8. I can speak 2 languages (Korean and English). Currently working on Japanese as my third.

9. My family used to own a farm and I learned to drive manual (dads hiace hehe) at the age of 11. Just around the farm land of course.

10. I used to own an R34 GTT with a bit of work done to it ;) Which to this day I regret selling :(

By simple regression I assume you're referring to simple linear regression ?

Linear regression using two variables isnt too bad to get your head around once you get used to it. When you start dealing with multiple regressions with a dependent variable and multiple independent/predictor variables, THATS when it starts doing your head in.

3. Was accepted into the Australian Defence Force Academy to get a degree in Electrical Engineering, and then fly jets, only to miss out on the UAI.
4. Love hot hatches. And not so hot hatches.
5. Love pulling things apart, and putting them back together, just for something to do.
6. Am a maths fan, sometimes.
7. I like my music loud. Id rather have a decent stereo then 500Hp.
8. Im 23, engaged, and have an 11 month old daughter, Emily
9. I have lots of random "trophies" The piston, crank and a camshaft from the first engine i blew up, a 16v smallport 4AGE, in which i put a conrod through the side of the block. My small shed has ECUs, strutbraces, tyres, wheels, velocity stacks, and a heap of random car bits.

...and there's that stigma!

When I bought mine they were still expensive, R32 GTR's were crazy expensive, and all of them reasonably rare. Rare enough that the few times you came across one you'd have arms waving at you out the window and lights flashing. The old feeling of brotherhood with unknown people...now though, all gone.

Wil: I totally understand where your coming from, its not like the early days when the sau whores would gather almost on a weekly basis and the "brotherhood" was alive and kicking.

Capercat: Not that I really need to justify anything to you but that shot was taken by my friend who came down from Melbourne. She wanted to see Bondi lol. In fact I rarely go there and live no where near the area.

Okay time to get back on topic!!! Here's mine!

1. When my brother was in pre-school, he brought home these tiny sponges and I stuck one up my nose. It was there for about 3 weeks until mum wondered why I wasn't breathing properly through my nose. $500 later and some exciting day surgery, I now have a tiny sponge in a little specimen jar to remind me of the $500 I owe my mum from when I was 1 1/2 yrs old! :)

2. My name is "Rashida" which is of Arabic origin and actually means "rightly guided". Most of mum's side of the family has Muslim names too, her dad was from Pakistan, but I am pretty much ABC! :)

3. I disliked my university experience, much of it because I was from the "Western Suburbs" and was consequently asked on my first day of class if I was "knocked up and on drugs" in high school. Girls were mean!! But I made it through and came out with some close friends who have shaped the person I am today. :D

4. I spend little time discussing anything about cars with colleagues and friends who do not share the same passion. Mostly because I do have other hobbies and prefer to share these instead. Discussing origins of cars bore most people anyway - and guys become more intimidated than interested, which is a shame. :(

5. I have a habit of latching onto people who genuinely love VW Beetles as much as I do. I like these people even more when they agree that the "new" beetles are one of the worst decisions Volkswagen has ever made!!!

6. Speaking of my love for Volkswagen Beetles, I have a large collection of these models, some of which were donated to me from Brendan's (Serial Killa) stash from when he was growing up.

7. Speaking more of Volkswagen Beetles... I've wanted a tattoo of one for some time now (since I was 16 and had owned my first!). I am hoping to do it this year in June as a 22nd birthday present to myself, but I need to find someone to draw one for me to my liking first. It sounds ridiculously insane to some, but not to me. >D

8. My parents are the best divorced parents you could ever meet, they are best friends. This works perfectly for me and I wish it were that way for many others.

9. I've participated in 5 City to Surfs, but haven't done one in at least 3 years! I'd like to go again this year (and will immediately regret the decision when I hit heartbreak hill )

10. I too am no good at maths, the calculator is my best friend! P.s did you know that Pythagoras didn't invent the Pythagoras theorem? It had something to do with the Babylons! That's about all I know.

Mr Duck

I am in favour of transparency and you're being very open and honest here, which is nice for us.

Although I am not a lawyer or HR pro, I'd be mindful that this is a document which gets indexed into search engines and it might be good to keep your online ID separate from your name, in case a future employer habitually googles to find dirt on people.

(I only mention this not because of what you posted but because, more generally, it's good to keep your ID a little separate from your offline ID in case of stalkers. More common than overzealous HR depts, that's for sure!)

PS I'm glagd you didn't mention you smoke... we witnessed that on OPH. :D I am your co-defendant, pleading guilty on that one!

2. I did not grow up in Sydney, I grew up in a town called Mudgee, about 4 hours west from Sydney (other side of Blue Mountains) I left there when i was 18 and moved to Sydney for career & lifestyle reasons, and still love it down here, doubt i will ever go back.

haha # 9

Handsome devil den !!

i'm not good looking at all.

Throughout school, i do and say things that make me a little gay lol eg. the way i hold a cup of tea/coffee, naturally my pinky goes walk about...lol

I think it is more an inside joke with my friends, it doesn't help with the way i dress as well. so majority of them say i'm gay but know i'm not gay... and naturally when i go out and my mates would say that i'm gay, girls would think i'm gay as well lol anyways long story.

Interesting facts. :)

12. Tell us more about the Duke. Is that the 525? :)
(No offence to anyone here, but I've never heard of a Ducati owner who is gay...)

525 is just my birthday... so nothing to do with the duke.

More about the duke... the desmo sits in the garage or repair place alot more than i ride it lol

Thinking about selling anyway, i don't ride as often as i used to, it scares the crap out of me each time i ride it (as in i think i will die each time i ride lol), plus it was an impulsive buy. So it is just sitting in the garage looking pretty.

Another interesting fact would probably be i contradict myself in a weird way... in general i'm indecisive, such as ordering food, i would take the longest to decide, but like for the bike, i wanted one, so i went and bought one without thinking.

Overall i'm a bit of a weirdo.

Ps. I actually know a few ducati owners who are gay... maybe it is the tight leather?

stance and fitment nazi's are guys who are more concerned than anything else about how the car and its wheels sit (ie... ride height, camber, toe, castor, wheel width and offset, wheel selection etc) to give an aggressive look.

Cheers on SAU, just wish I had some time to make it look pretty.

Hmmm......

1. Closer to 50 than 40
2. Married for over 21 years, but only started the family at 39 (don't leave it too late you guys, it gets harder to keep up with the kids)
3. Highly allergic to cats and rabbits
4. Didn't finish high school. Had to do mature age entry into Uni, which I completed while working full time (do not recommend as a prefered path). Now a partner at big four chartered firm
5. Father and Grandfather both died of stomach and bowel cancer at the same age in their mid-50s. Wife is concerned I only have a few years to go. Colonoscopies are not fun
6. Once held a state record for cycling in my teens
7. Started racing BMX in my mid-40s (cruiser class)
8. Still compete occassionally in cross-country and desert races on my quad
9. Only bone ever broken is my nose (3 times), but have had a total of 10 surgery sessions on my knees and shoulders
10. Have a great collection of toys - bicycles, motorbikes, 4WD and my newest, my R (but you knew about the R)

Hadn't seen this thread before - bit of fun - here are ten about me:

1. I am a Shetland Islander - now Aussie & have been from a young age but I generally feel safe in suggesting to people that I'm the only person they'll meet from the Shetlands.
2. I weigh FAR too much these days and working from home takes a lot of effort to change that but I'm working on it.
3. I have been a mechanic, logistics king or manager in Formula 1, Formula 3000, Formula 3, Champ Car, NASCAR and V8 Supercars.
4. I wrote off three cars in my first year of driving - could say they weren't all my fault but in reality, lack of experience and too much exuberance were the cause.
5. Did laps of Silverstone in the UK in the passenger seats on either side of the McLaren F1 during it's development with Jonathan Palmer driving - unbelievable experience.
6. Did contract work for the Supercar Club when it still existed - one big, big toyshop of great toys and drove them all - very enjoyable.
7. Have waterskied up the Thames at 2:00 in the morning in the middle of winter on the way home from the pub (lived next to the river) - took three days for my skin to go back to white from the blue it turned!
8. My hearing is not good - working close to race engines and usually not bothering with ear protection will do that to you.
9. I've moved around A LOT - at one stage had moved more often than I'd had birthdays but a bit more evened out now.
10. I run extreme sports and entertainment events these days - Crusty Demons last year, doing Ken Block Gymkhana down at Calder Park this year.

^^^^ How awesome is that list.

Watched the old Topgear review of the Mclaren F1 again the other day done by Tiff Needel back in the early 90's. Can't believe that was 20 years ago...and you got to be part of it...WOW!

What F1 team Tony?

Cheers Tom,

I was with the Brabham team - the team folded at the end of 91 and quite a few of the guys ended up working on the McLaren road cars. One of the guys I knew really well was the first person to crash one (on a public road) - to this day he is very embarrassed about it.

I ended up doing laps as I went to see the guys when they were testing at Silverstone and part of the testing was to do full bore laps with a passenger on the left side only, or the right side only or on both sides to check the balance on the car in all variations. As I was there, they threw me in for some lappery. Bloody incredible experience and a road car that made (and still makes) competitors look very pedestrian in my view.

1. I'm 25, though people tell me I look much younger. (or they lie)
2. I've only ever owned a VW/Audi
3. I was driven back from hospital in a MKII GTI when I was born - which my dad STILL has (in storage)
4. I've had a shoulder reconstruction, due to sports injuries.
5. I was the only person of Asian descent in my 4U english class (Extension 2, or whatever stupid name it was called in 2003), which was a statistical anomaly as I went to a selective school (tons of asians)
6. I'm an only child
7. I sit extremely upright in my car
8. I studied Computer Science @ USYD, but work completely independently of that field now.
9. I'm still working on getting my Masters in IT Management - not much longer now.
10. I, incidentally, have never owned a car in a colour other than Black.

Ok so some great sharing and great reads on here so my time to contribute. I feel really comfortable in sharing this stuff here as you are all really nice people. I Just realised I wrote too much sorry if it gets boring but I'm all about the detail lol :)

1. I had no real interest in cars until about 7 years ago. I didn't spend my youth (39 now) working on cars, buying nice cars etc. All my cars up until my MKV GTI were run-abouts. I got into F1 and MotoGP about 10 years ago and got into bikes around the same time. Did track days, lots of tuition in riding, lots of riding the OPH, it was fun and I still love Bikes but ultimately it had to be one or the other so I went the car route and have no regrets at all. I was looking for a car that could provide as close of an experience as possible to riding sports bikes. However I found out about and fell in love with VWs through F1. I really wanted a car I could afford that had paddles and that was a sports car (my poor man's version of an F1 car). Had a look at a stack of cars and their semi-auto boxes were shite. When I drove a MKV GTI for the first time I knew I had found the car I had been searching for. The DSG box reminds me a lot of riding bikes up. up. up. down. down etc in sequential format. So my love affair with VWs starts with F1 and bikes-who'd a thunk it?

2. Through my 20s and early 30s I was a professional musician (hence why I had no interest in cars)-in some sense I still am I guess as I still play a lot and work with the occasional Ozzie recording artist. I play the drums. I got to work with a few ozzie and international artists on a session basis. Got to tour a lot around Oz and some OS touring, TV etc. It's a very rewarding profession when you play with good artists and when they pay you but sadly some of Australia's best musicians still have to chase their money regularly. When you're young and single you can live on almost nothing and survive on the music but the older you get and with a partner it's just too hard to do. Best experience was playing at one of the Rumba festivals in the 90s at Homebush stadium to about 60 thousand people. My eldest brother lives in NYC and is the bass player for a very famous female artist and has written a a few tracks for her. In a sense he made it work but the struggle to get to the top was about 20 years worth. Funnily enough he has also gotten into cars over the last few years but unfortunately they are of the American muscle type. He currently owns a few oldies and a newie.

3. At age 30 ish I went to uni as a mature age student. I am now a Social Worker with a couple of degrees. Started out studying Psychology with the intent of being a Counselling Psychologist but the road is too long to do basically the same thing as Social Work (minus the ability to conduct psychometric testing) so I transferred to a Social Work degree and was very thankful I did. I currently work for a Federal Government organisation and the plan has always been to one day open a private practice but no rush as my clientele are pretty awesome people where I work now. My first Social Work role was to provide counselling to the long term unemployed. These clients had mental health conditions combined with some form of alcohol or drug addiction-working with these people made me realise how lucky I am and their experiences of trauma and abuse were in many cases so severe you would not think human beings could treat other human beings in such a way. That experience has really changed my life.

4. I seem to have a passion for all things Asian. I love Asian food, learning about Asian culture, travelling to different parts of Asia etc. I love 5 star hotels in Asia, they leave Australia for dead re service and hospitality-and a hell of a lot cheaper too than Australia haha. The smells of Bangkok, the heat, the beaches with no waves etc, aaah, just takes me away. I absolutely love HK triad movies!!! I have so many on DVD and always check SBS for anything that's showing. All of the cultural stuff within triad movies is fascinating. Anyone who's watched any would be familiar with concepts of 'saving face', 'Boss', 'Brother', 'Uncle', 'King of cars', 'King of Guns', 'King of Fighting' etc. I am sure these cultural traits are not exclusive to triads but it's just awesome stuff haha. Haven't been to HK yet-that will be my pilgrimage trip to Triad movie heaven! Also love Japanese yakuza movies and have been checking out some Korean ones on SBS too. Love watching a show on SBS called 'Singapore flavours' which is essentially about going to countries all around the globe looking for places that make Singaporean dishes and doing comparos-why do I love this? I don't know lol

5. My other passion is Aviation. I am an avid plane spotter at YSSY (Sydney Airport), the bigger the plane the better. Love Military aircraft (Hercules, Globemasters, super hornets, Blackhawks). I have a scanner to listen to air traffic control (what a nerd I know haha). I know the NATO phonetic alphabet. I love flying on planes, have done all classes. I will never forget my one and only 1st class experience, just amazing. I have had a few runs at flying in Cessnas and my plan is to get my pilot licence after my kids have finished school. In the meantime I have to learn maths physics etc as I was more of an arts student back at school haha. There is a great spot that I have always thought we could do a VWs, planes, coffee and doughnuts meet-up near Sydney airport-might make that happen one day.

6. It pains me to my core when I hear about people being injured or killed in random acts of violence.

7. I am a Manly supporter. Back in the day I was asked to try out for the North Sydney Bears Junior side, Jersey Flegg Cup I think from memory-didn't make it unfortunately

8. I have a man-crush for Mark Webber. Not in the same sex relationship type way but he's just such a legend, he's an F1 driver, he has lots of cash, he has great cars, he loves aviation. I could definitely see me being his friend haha. One of his recent tweets stated he had just swept his driveway and took his dogs for a walk-what a champ!

9. I fell in love with a teacher in year 8 who taught textiles and design. I decided my best chance with her was to join her class. I was the only male in the whole school who did textiles and design and I copped it daily for this-but it was worth it! I spent so much time 'requesting assistance' from her and she played along beautifully. I think she was very flattered haha. Our class entered a textiles and design competition which was called the NSW School Girls something or other-the whole competition name had to be changed because I entered it-what a trail blazer for men I was lol.

10. I use to have great hair-now as some of you already know, I don't anymore :(

Ok, why not...

1. I was a millionaire for 1 day in 2008. Don't play Lotto much at all, but I decided to pull a syndicate of 20 or so people together at work a couple of years back and I ended up buying a division 1 winning systems 11 ticket. Waited all night to find out there was a total of 19 division 1 winners. As it was a Megadraw with a $19m jackpot, the maths was pretty easy. ;) Couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed that there weren't less winners - how bad is that? Anyway, contemplated how and if I had the balls to stay quiet (no one else had seen the ticket or knew the numbers) and keep the million for myself, but I guess my parents raised me pretty well as I quickly worked out that I couldn't do that and live with myself. Plus karma would get me somehow! Took the $50k or so and put half on the mortgage and the other half towards a new family car (the Forester XT) to replace the little Mazda 3 we were about to outgrow with our first baby about to be born. Amazing experience, highly recommend it. :D

2. Have 1 day left until I turn 30 - not really sure how I feel about it. Proud of what I have acheived to date, but keen to stay young and can't help but wonder now what?

3. I haven't cried in over 10 years. I'm not an emotional guy and have been very lucky in that I have suffered any family or personal tragedies. Teared up a bit last year for close mate's mum's funeral, but that has been as close as I have come.

4. I have plenty of interests, but am not really passionate about anything. Just kind of go with the flow.

5. I often have a desire to get seriously fit, but ultimately lack the discipline (and attention span) to make it happen.

6. I'm an ass man. Don't get me wrong, I like I nice pair of breasts as much as the next guy, but given the choice.... :D

7. I'm not the greatest driver in the world, but I'm far worse critic of others and generally a terrible back seat driver.

8. I like reality TV - not Big Brother style, but Master Chef, Biggest Loser, The Block etc keep me quite interested.

9. I'm struggling to justify the cost of private education for my kids. Still have a year to decide, but am I crazy thinking $3400 is excessive for a year of Kindy, which is only 2 days a week!!

10. I get to work around 6:00am every morning - mostly to beat peak hour traffic which now seems to start rediculously early and last far beyond an hour - but also because I can actually get some planned work done before meetings start, the phone rings or my day gets hijacked by some other means. People think I'm nuts. Maybe I am. ;)

1. I am older than most people think, hit the big 30 this year but mentally i definitely know im not there which is a worry as i think i dont live in reality sometimes lol.
2. I am the only Australian born on both sides of my family with background of German and Brasilian i am luckily enough to have the ability to speak/read/write German, and minimal Portuguese as well and hold multiple passports as well. Grew up in Sydneys East and have always lived in Sydney City within 5km of the CBD ironically enough. Growing up in darlo/the cross/paddo/surry hills was an interesting childhood i have to add.
3. Also an only child and back to the only 'born' still from both sides of the family as all family lives overseas still to this day.
4. Traveling and Cars are my passion, unfortunately both are extreme expensive and i have a tendency to continue with them and not be realistic and save. Well for traveling or parts/modifications saving works well. Otherwise.... not so great.
5. I don't smoke, nor drink and never have or really have any intentions to. Due to no reason simply other than i dont like it and i dont need any encouragement to do stupid things, i manage that easily on my own (re alco etc).
6. Brutally honest and forward, it is what it is and thats the way it rolls but within reason of course.
7. I do find myself incredibly lucky with what i have regarding the family i do have, great friends and great girlfriend and always enjoy meeting new people all the time.
8. I consider myself a very friendly person and will speak to anyone and help anyone, but if your not nice and continue to be not nice i'll tell you straight out your a tool. (back to 6?)
9. I am not stubborn...
10. Also enjoy ripping things apart and putting them back together, doesn't matter how long it takes me. Which i guess is why i enjoy taking cars apart a lot and have learnt a lot over the years including the S3 and thankful for friends and others who have helped/taught me on the way as well.

Overall, im pretty boring compared to most.

Hi Stephen - 3 years F1 and it is all kinda the same but varies in detail. F1 is a whole different world due to the amount of trick gear used in running the team - it's pretty mind blowing and even more so these days.

So many interesting things about people.. Here are some boring things about me..

1. I am 26 yrs old and a high school PE teacher at a very disadvantaged school. Some days i love my job, other days it reduces me to tears because i want to help these kids who sometimes dont want my help :(
2. I can speak, read and write Croatian. However I am not very confident at it.
3.. I still struggle with body image issues and have since i was a teenager. I was subject to many taunts during high school and uni believe it or not. I know I shouldn't let those people's comments get me down. I am very rarely happy with how I look..
4. I have 2 brothers, one older and one younger. I have a massive middle child complex LOL compounded by the fact that i am female too :P my older brother is the mature married son, my young brother is the golden child and me LOL well im just the problem child cos I'm argumentative and opinionated and lets be honest - i don't really agree with a lot of the old school Croatian values...
5. I am a massive tom boy LOL I love cars, love playing sport (particularly soccer/volleyball) but I am a qualified make up artist and love getting dolled up :/ go figure LOL
6. I name all my cars and they always seem to be male..
Car 1. HSC Mobile. This was a shitbox 96 Hyundai excel that had green reverse lights (haha posca pens), no air con or radio. I acquired this car just before my HSC hence the name as I could drive myself and my mate to all our exams.
Car 2. Tankus was a 92 Toyota Lexcen and guzzled petrol like no tomorrow. This was a hand me down from my grandparents and was a little to powerful for when i was on my P's.
Car 3. Sparky the 03 Barina, i loved this car so much but i wanted something quicker LOL which led me to my current car...
Car 4. My polo GTI which my mum named for me. She called it Pepee the Polo.
7. I have never tried a cigarette, EVER! I never intend to either. They just dont do it for me..
8. I don't drink because i don't enjoy it nor have i found anything that agrees with my taste buds. Keeping in mind that i worked in a cocktail bar for 3.5 yrs and have tried almost every drink under the sun. This doesn't amuse my family or cousins as drinking is a big part of celebrations within our culture.
9. My first REAL trip overseas was last year with a great group of friends and now i have caught the travel bug. Im going overseas again in sep/oct with my boyf for 4 weeks :) yeah so excited!!!
10. I love eating!!! It wasn't until hmmm, maybe 2 years ago that i tried "adventurous foods"' such as Thai, Japanese and Indian LOL i apparently lived under a rock according to pierre and still do sometimes :P I refuse to eat anything that is or looks like lettuce. I hate the taste and smell of it! It makes me want to puke. I also don't eat raw tomatoes LOL

Yes i am weird, a bit of a nerd but that's me..

1. I'm studying Mechanical Engineering
2. When I was a kid I used to pull things apart and had HUGE buckets of lego (hence the engineering)
3. I'm afraid of open spaces (opposite of claustrophobic) and can't sleep with the door open or any of the cupboards open
4. I'm slightly OCD. My most recent issue is I can't stand having the power symbol on the TDI's head unit facing the wrong way so I adjust the volume only using the steering wheel controls.
5. I'm a huge animal person and have rehomed over 6 stray cats in the last 3 years
6. Dance is my passion. If I could make enough cash being a dancer I would spend my life doing that
7. I play a lot of games mostly on the PS3
8. I religiously watch Iron man and Iron man 2
9. I can't stand lettuce
10. I named my cat after my car (Miata)

seems like a logical place to explain a few things like why I vanish for weeks and months at a time (see #1)

1 - I have a very poor immune system resulting in, heart surgery, liver failure, intolerance to most food, chronic migraine, skin cancers - the worst being on my face and eyes, I have scars all over my body

2 - I study design, engineering, astronomy, construction, theoretical physics, biology, free energy, behaviour, psychology, body language, neuro linguistics

3 - I listen to most kinds of music except country, I prefer metal, hip hop, Latin funk, soul, jazz

4 - I do not watch TV, only documentaries, films and stupid cartoons

5 - I have patented technology in the UK & EU which is licensed to major retailers such as Tesco & Westfield, I was the first person in the world to market a 30' inductive touch screen in 2003, it was used to locate shops in malls

6 - I am adopted and recently met my biological mother, I never discussed this with my mum as she too was adopted but had a very tough childhood, she died before we had a chance to share in the discussion

7 - I left school when I was 14 as I never fitted in, I was not a sports hero and I was labelled with things a child should never hear, ADHD, Learning difficulties, etc, I have worked ever since, I have worked as a Chef, project manager, system administrator, orthotic engineer, hospital cleaner, technical director, design engineer and I.T Director, I also do volunteer work with special needs dogs, this helps dogs who have personality issues such as aggression or immense fear to be re-homed and enjoy life as a dog, most of these guys have been abused or abandoned, I currently work as a technical account manager in the NFP sector, some of the organisations I work with are WIRES, Habitat for humanity, Cancer foundation and YWCA

8 - I have owned approx 17 cars but did not get my license until I was 20, I failed my test so many times I gave up and left the country, I was a teenage pothead and everything was the worlds fault, I never knew how to use my mind until I grew up, now i do all i can to feed my curiosity for all things as often as possible, I have only ever had 1 car accident when I was 31, it was in my 2001 STI, my car lost traction due to oil on the road, slight rain followed by warm sunshine, my car left the road hit a verge, became airborne, roll + yaw saw the back offside wheel hit a light pole 2 metres off the ground, the wheel was pushed through the tank and floor of the car, I then spun 180Deg in the opposite direction and ended up pointing the right way in the opposite lane, I walked away. All members of my family currently own black cars, My last 4 cars have been black.

9 - Had it not been for my gorgeous other half diverting me away from yet another Mercedes dealership I would not be driving a VW today, there have been many Merc's in my family and 3 days before I handed over the cash for a set of keys to a shiny new E55 I was guided into VW dealership, 2 weeks later I drove away in a 2009 R32, I owned the car for 7 weeks before I sold it, packed up moved back to Australia and never bothered to look for anything else, I just bought another R32, She also chose the wheels, and when the Mrs chooses ADV’s, that’s the girl you marry!

10 – I recently threw out, donated, gave away or sold almost everything I own, I felt I had carried too much crap with me through life and the only way to free myself of much of the stress in my life was to start again, some of the crap I got rid of included 3 amps, 6 guitars, 3 radio controlled cars, telescopes, 2 TV’s, 7 PC’s all my books, records, cd’s 3 garbage bags of clothes, anything I owned 2 of, half my furniture, my microwave, all the email I ever kept, my facebook account, anything I had been given as a gift but never intended to use, all my artwork, jewellery, ornaments, antiques, a few people & 2 businesses.

1.) I am 22 years old, 170cm, 64kg.

2.) I am a full time troll, part time student, part time Apple retail assistant.

3.) I lost my license for 6 months for speeding.

4.) Am often known to be biased towards GIAC, partly because they are the best, but let's not go into that.

5.) I am a gym junkie - I go 6 times a week, involves 3 non-consecutive days of full body circuit weight training, with body weight high intensity cardio on the days in between.

6.) I don't like going out much (partly due to my long term disease, made me a little anti-social).

7.) I love Apple products, have almost everything in the range apart from the iPad (useless device, I had one but sold it).

8.) I eat a very strict diet -> no more than 60g of carbs, only from vegetables, the rest protein, and try and include good fats and oils, such as flaxseed/Omega 3.

9.) I have had Crohn's Disease for 14 years, almost died at 18 years old, had emergency bowel surgery (bowel perforated) - Lived with a colostomy and then an ileostomy (bag) for a year and a half. Due to this I distanced myself from others, as I was ashamed of my scar and the fact I had to use a bag just like an old person would. Which is how I managed to save up to buy my car and all the mods, I just worked full time for 2 years straight, for 6 months, worked 7 days a week, so I could keep my mind occupied. This is when I decided to hit the gym, after the reversal of the bag, I had a nasty scar and wanted to get into shape, so it wouldn't look as noticeable.

10.) I never do uni work, because I take too many gym stimulants so I can no longer sit down and focus.

1. I used to be a TV presenter on the ABC for a show about gaming called Good Game (still running - I quit after the second season). Don't watch it, the show sucks and so did I - I had terrible presentation skills back then :(

2. Never had a run in with the police about anything. Heck, I've only ever been pulled over once, and that was for a random breath test by a bored cop at 4am.

3. I have worked as both a powdercoater and a welder, so seeing poor powdercoat jobs makes me cringe as I know I could do a lot better - my powdercoating skills are airtight :) My welding is alright, nothing special, I still prefer to get any work done professionally as I'm not ticketed :( I work in IT now as a system administraor :P go figure.

4. I've also worked at bunnings in paints and powertools, so I know lots about paint and painting as well as a TON about powertools. Ask me anything! Also, hogbristle and lexicon are popular colours, so go with those if you're in doubt. Also, buy dulux. It's just plain and simply the best paint. Cheap paint isn't worth the price of the tin.

5. I can apply a full face of makeup (high fashion-style) including mixing the foundation from scratch. My ex was a makeup artist and beauty therapist, so I know a LOT about makeup. Lora: we should chat :P funnily enough, my ex's name was Laura, so go figure.

6. I own more computers than I can count. Somewhere over 10.. I also have a home business building high-end gaming machines and performance workstations. Clients include an engineering firm (all of their computers), keepit klampit wheel clamps (all of their computers) and the ABC's Four Corners (heavy rendering machine). My own machine is a 4GHz watercooled monster with almost 400GB of solid state storage and near-silent cooling. I also have two 27 inch IPS screens which are colour calibrated (adobeRGB).

7. I'm a bit of an audio-phile I have cans and a headphone amp at the moment. I'd love a pair of dali floorstanders, but my room is completely the wrong shape acoustically. I look after my hearing to the point where I'm lame (I wear ear-plugs to clubs)..

8. I have a passion for how things work - I like to think that if I was stuck I could rebuild a lot of things from first principles. I love engineering and studied computer systems engineering at uni, but I've put it on hold and want to go back and do mechanical engineering now.

9. I'm a bit OCD about things like even volume numbers (multiples of 2 and 5 are ok, depends on the scale)

10. I'm a visual/spatial learner. This means I learn through spatial interaction or imagination - I can copy the text down of a whiteboard onto a piece of paper and have no idea what I've just written, but take apart an engine or a device in front of me once and I can generally do it myself straight away with no help. I'm also messy, but I memorise where everything is, again due to my spatial learning, even remembering where I put things like an eraser more than three years ago. I just think about everything in a physical way.. Electrical engineering maths hurt me, so unimaginable! :P haha :)

11. I LOVE LEGO!!! OH MAN I HAVE SO MUCH OF IT AND I JUST NEEEDD MOOOOOREEEEEE....... I love building truck cranes and 4WDs. I have a truck crane with an 80cm long, three-segment telescoping boom that can lift 2kg at a radius of 24cm. Also in progress is a lego 4WD with self-locking differentials and 4-bar linkage suspension.

12. I've been rally driving as a driver before (evo 7 and an STI once) - incredible experience! Never been in anything that's accelerated as hard as those cars did.

13. I have less than zero interest in 'sport'.. As a measure of how disinterested I am, every year I make a point of asking people which teams are playing in the state of origin, or failing that, commenting 'that's that game with the ball that got squashed, right?'. I get left alone nice and quickly :) Only sport I vaguely follow is rally driving, and even that's dried up because the WRC body decided to enforce copyright on youtube, so now I can't even watch that!

14. I don't watch TV. At all. Ever. I don't even own one. Hope your head hasn't exploded :)

So it ended up being long, but I do a lot of unusual stuff, so there you go :P Oh, plus I'm 23 and my birthday is christmas eve.

Damn miles! looks like you've experienced quite a bit! make up, welding, paint, powertools, computers, audio, powedercoating, TV presentor, cars, and yes, most importantly, LEGO! love lego myself!

1. Im an australian born chinese (abc), am 29, 169cm short and god knows how wide I am with my weight in the triple digits (yes I know I should do something and I hate myself but cbf and too lazy).
2. I love food and therefore I eat when hungry, happy, sad, stressed or bored hence my fatness. What can I say, food is my kyptonite.
3. I stutter when I talk and occasionally make a whistling sound too.
4. I think im a complete dumbass but friends and family tell me otherwise.
5. I love lego especially lego and had 2 massive bucket loads as a kid and still go to the toy section to see what's new.
6. Horrible at maths and was my downfall in vce.
7. Am a registered psych nurse studying to become a dentist (even though I hate studying and think im a dumbass but somehow I managed to get in).
8. I have mild ocd and am superstitious and I guess I blame superstition from my chinese background. With my ocd, I have to touch things either twice or 3 times.
9. I have a high turnover and obsession with cars and over the past 3 years I have bought a new car every year.
10. Surprisingly I have more female best friends than I have male friends with only ever having 1 girlfriend whom is now my adorable and generous wife who puts up with my fatness, laziness, idiosyncrasies and expensive hobby with cars.

Wow that was quick. Got much more to share but I better keep it true to the threads title.

Your birthday is 5 days before mine. How much does it suck getting only 1 present for both xmas and bday?!?!?!

I can't have the volume on my TV at an odd number. Can't even be 15 or it annoys me it's not 16

I do that too! And the power button thing! We are not alone in the world :D

Back in the days when it had bars instead of volume numbers, I couldn't leave it on half bar, it would annoy the hell out of me. I tried a few times but always subconsciously switched it back without thinking.

My dad has the same birthday as you..And don't complain about one present!! I have to make 4 presents for Christmas and then two for my brother's birthday (28) and dad's on the 29th. IT MIGHT BE ONE PRESENT BUT IT'S DOUBLE IN VALUE!!

2. been in a relationship with my girlfriend for 6 months and I'm already living with her (and her parents :P)
3. I used to be a heavy ass smoker when I started in high school but I've sort of cut down to half a pack a day at most when I'm not drinking
4. my family is tragically shit so my living situation was really just bouncing around for a couple years with my friends until my girlfriend let me start staying at hers
5. my friends are potentially going to intervene my dubstep addiction even though I used to (and sometimes still do) pound the metal
6. got a metal plate held into my collarbone with seven screws after a footie accident in year 10 which let me dodge the school cert and spend a month at home playing COD
7. although I went to a selective school, I didn't really give two shits about my HSC and finished year 12 with a 55.25 ATAR and now I go to UWS Parramatta studying Business and Commerce but I'd rather just start working something but alas I'm Asian and I'm expected to go somewhere
8. lost my license in July for speeding and I'm getting it back in 3 days so pretty damn happy about that
9. out of my circle of close friends, I have the fastest car amongst them (we're all still P-platers) and I've got the only turbo
10. I really like cats. I wish I could huge them all. But I can't.

I usually get the one present MAYBE equal to 1.5 gifts. Or people forget (since I never do anything for it) and turn a xmas gift into a xmas/bday gift

Also, love cats. This is my cat Miata (named after my car) when he was little

i personally think this is really good for new folks like my self

1. Javed, Born on the 17th of March 1993 two days later than when was suppose to be born (I'm usually late with everything anyways so it makes sense). I'm 50kg and 175cm (Skinniest person I know. I can manage to still be able to eat 2 full racks of pork at Hurricane's Grill & Bar Steakhouse and not gain any weight. I consider it a gift)
2. My mother is 100% Greek, born in Greece, Greek. Dad is 100% Indian, born in India, Indian. They met here and had me here in Sydney. I'm their only child together while dad has another daughter. my sister is younger than me and doesn't live in the same state as myself but i make it my mission to see her yearly. don't live with either one of my parents as I love and live with my mothers mum, my grandmother.
3. I have OCD, Claustrophobia, ADHD, Athazagoraphobia, Mycophobia, Paraskavedekatriaphobia, fear of living things that fly i.e birds, flys, bugs. I also have a sever DECIDOPHOBIA! (I hate making decisions and fear being put into a situation were I'm forced to.)
4. Apparently I'm to laid back, carefree, take nothing seriously, make no decisions and a drifter. But i'll talk to anyone and tend to talk a lot, maybe too much. I been know to help everyone out when I can. I tend to over speak my mind or be the first person to say how everyone else and my self feel which tends to lead me into trouble a lot.
5. When I was 8 on a vacation to Pakistan, were dad worked at the time, I was examined to be clinically dead for about 1-2 minutes. I suffer from two rare blood conditions.
6. I'm single as I can't maintain a relationship. still best friends with all my ex's, all 8 of them. like Jig I have one male best friends but rest are female.

Some interesting stories up here, heres my list :)

1. I'm 22
2. Purchased a Golf as my first car by freak chance in a split second decision after searching for the right Lexus IS200 for 6 months! Now couldn't imagine having another car (RS6 one day).
3. Completing my university degree next Monday! Hellz yeah! (bachelor of Construction Management). I also work in the commercial construction industry.
4. I have a Siberian Husky! Best decision of my life :D
5. I'm a perfectionist.
6. Like my technology.
7. Fell from a second storey balcony while playing chasey when I was 9. Landed on my back and when I got up there was a rock as big as I was right next to me, walked away as if nothing happened. Probably the luckiest moment in my life.
8. I love snowboarding, shit season in AU - I won a free lift pass that I couldn't even use towards the end of the season.. but I'm going to EU in December so will hit the slopes up there :D
9. I already miss Entourage :( lol.
10. Haven't been pulled over by police since I started driving (4 years now), never had an infringement, yet managed to cop a red light on Flinders St. in peak hour traffic and a speeding fine 300km away from home in the space of 1 day a couple months ago. With the red light - I was already in the intersection by half a car length and stationary as traffic wasn't moving, the guy in front of me took off after a while and I followed suit, only then realizing the light went orange. I was 3/4 of the way out when the camera snapped me (it was late, saw the flash clearly.. and the steering wheel got acquainted with my fist). The speeding fine was the following night returning from a snow trip. This was during that stint the cops were protesting and flashing their lights near speeding cameras. So I was driving through Mansfield (50 km/h speed limit) and I saw one of these police cars at the end of a street with its lights on, didn't jerry they were warning people. I took the next street right and half way down it I get flashed AGAIN doing 60 in a 50 zone.. Arghh I was about to kill someone lol.

Are you male of female? Not being rude, I'm just wondering so I can read that post in its correct context.

1. I'm first generation Australia, my family moved over in 1987 from Italy.
2. I'm 21 in two weeks (or so).
3. I can't drink Tequila at all. The slightest smell of the stuff will almost send me running to the bathroom.
4. Every car driven by members of my immediate family are VAG. They consist of a Jetta, Tiguan, Amarok, S8 and a Touareg.
5. I absolutely hate attention. My most hated part of the year is when everyone sings "Happy Birthday" to me. Hell, I'm finding it hard to be so self centered while writing this post.
6. I don't really get along with girls too well, I don't have the patience and endurance to deal with their problems/issues/interests and a lot of them generally give me the shits.
7. I go to Jetts every week day and pretty much have an 80% carb free diet.
8. I don't like sharing my bed with anyone.
9. I'm dyslexic when it comes to speaking sentences with many nouns and pronouns. A common cock up for me is "Does your girlfriend know you're driving her car?".
10. I've learnt that it never pays to be nice/go out of your way for someone at first as it will get you used. Let them prove their friendship before any extra effort is made.

Ok ill jump in on this, love how much people are sharing on here, shows how close the community is really, alot of things you wouldnt go and tell people on the street or in the pub about if they asked you 10 things about them!

1. I'm 21 going on 22

2. Born and Raised in Melbourne, but my parents were both born outside of Australia. Mum is 100% Indian her family moved to Australia when she was only about 1 year old. Dad is 100% Swiss, and came out to Australia when he was 20 with $500 in his pocket chasing adventure, he found it, and also found my Mum! They married in 1986 and moved to Switzerland. I was "manufactured" in Switzerland in 1989 but was "registered" in Melbourne in early 1990 haha! (My parents moved back to Australia after mum fell pregnant) I have 2 younger brothers and 1 younger sister.

3. Dad has fought 4 rounds of bowel cancer and won each time! (1986, 6 weeks after my parents married, again on my first birthday, 1999, and then 2006) touch wood it is gone for good!

4. When i was 13 i took 7 months off from year 8 and went and lived with Dads family in Switzerland, I had an absolute blast, learning to Ski, board (a little) and becoming fluent in Swiss German and German. Made some awesome friends going to school there too.

5. I'm another person that was never "stellar" at maths to say the least, and during my VCE in year 12, I decided before going to uni I wanted to do something different and challenge myself. I was unfit at the time, and had your typical highschool depressing girl issues and really wanted to get away from it all (and her) and do some sort of "GAP Year". So straight after year 12 I enlisted in the Australian Army's GAP year program at the end of 2007. After completing my initial training I was enjoying it so much I ended up singing up full time past my initial 1 year obligation. After completing my trade training I was then posted to Brisbane. Pretty much 4 years later here I am still here. Funny thing is after basic training I ended up getting together with "that girl" I just couldnt get away from and we were together 2 years before our relationship broke down last year while I was away.

6. I have done one 9 month tour of Afghanistan in 2010. Was an eye opening and life changing experience to say the least. But I dont regret going and have mates that will stay with me for life. Currently gearing up for a possible 2nd tour next year.

7. My first car was a 2003 Mazda 6 Luxury Sports Manual which i purchased in 2008. Great car, incredibly reliable and very well decked out options wise for a stock car (Bose sound system etc)
I kept the car 100% stock even though I did have plans for a few things, my busy work life and then going overseas just killed any time or effort I was going to put into it. This year I got bored and sick of it and wanted to start anew, Dad has a MK4 2.0 Sport and I did always love the golfs. (I learnt to drive manual in dads) So I went and got myself my GTI which I have had for almost 2 months now :D

8. My Uncle, who was an amazing Mentor of mine, passed away from Cancer in June last year while I was away in Afghanistan. (I got to say goodbye to him 3 weeks before he passed on my 2 week break from operations)

9. I love a good challenge and love reaping the rewards of hard work.

10. I'm into some amatuer photography, in 2009 I bought a Nikkon D90, I risked breaking it by taking it to Afghan, took some snappys. This one is probably one of my favourites. (Sorry about the small size)
