Hi guys,

Been a VW enthusiast since owning a R32 GTR a few years back. Yes, was and still at heart a JDM boy!!

Had a soft spot for the Mk4 .:R32 after seeing it at Sydney's Motorshow.

So yes, I decided to do my research and came to a conclusion that I just had to get one.

Early 2007, picked up a perfect condition BMP .:R32 at Rick Damelian, stock as a rock. Roughly about the same time the Mk5's R32's were released.

She has been great, reliable and fun to drive. Next mod hmmm *c2* ;) dunno!

For those who are on the watercooled site, prob see my pics thread, so i'm starting up one here.

**some pics were courtesy of SUGA and J.Fox.**

Enjoy.....

Cheers mate, the lug covers are the stock OEM ones that came with the car, which then after painting the wheels decided to paint the lug covers.

SHNEAKY, SHNEAKY!

I had my OEM rims on the MPS done in shadow chrome, came up a treat against the black paint..

What's next on the 'TO DO' list??

Almost bought a MPS!!

Plans? pretty much done what I wanted and happy with the outcome.

At this stage (no so much mods):

- Want to lower the rear by half an inch.
- possibly spacers for the rear
- protect her with ventureshield (bonnet, front bar, side guards, lower boot area)

Contemplating (not sure as this is my daily):
C2 Turbo Kit Stage 1
or
Schrick Cams with a tune to suit it.

I'm using the factory lugs without issue.

the factory lugs (ball seated bolts) aren't not supposed to be used on aftermarket wheels that are mostly manufactured with conical seats.

yes, the factory bolts will bolt on ok with out obvious issues, but remember this means you have secured a tapered surface (the wheels lug seats) with a round surface (the factory lugs).

just like a baby trying to slot a square piece into trapezium slot :p

it's quote common that many people are still not aware of this. some even don't use hub rings!

I think it's the perfect fitment. Not what we may consider poke

If I recall, there was minor scrubbing at full suspension bound. But I think this was fixed.
Tommy, is also running 15mm spacers at the rear.

The rear ends of our cars do allow leeway to play with offset and fitments. I can get a 10" Porsche twist in the rear!

tomtom_r32
02-06-2011, 12:12 PM
Thanks guys, haven't been lurking here for a while.

Dainese is correct. Perfect fitment with the CH's. I did have issues with rubbing but got sorted out.

I am running 15mmm spacers in the rear for a bit of poke.

Jig: As confirmed by Mal there is about 6 holes from memory for the euro plate holder. I just shaved and repainted my front bar as I wanted a clean look.

My front guards are rolled, not flared, rears arent.

MK4 stud pattern is 5x100 which is sad.

VW Nats was good guys, nice turnout of Mk4 R's this year with barely any Mk5 R's, not to mention AP's crazy beast.

Decided to give my .:R a spice of JDM'n y0!

Plasti-Dip my CH's in RED as a trial to see how'd they look. These were done with 2 cans. I reckon another coat/can should finish them better.

Loving the S1's!

With the Plasti-Dip, its just a rubber coating in spray can form.
As it's multi purpose, it bonds onto most things.
Simple process really, makes ure your rims are off, cleaned, most importantly DRY and dust free area with the tyres covered, then spray crazy.
I used two cans to evenly coat the Aristos red. Best results are on wheels that are glossed.
It dries up quite quickly too, approx 5-10mins on a nice day.
The coat is quite durable, but being rubber, it does catch a bit of dust and sand from the roads, just hose it off. The joy is that is not permanent and can be removed anytime.

There is a clip with dipped wheels on a mk5 Gti in the states.

At first, the vibration in the cabin was quite rough, like a massage chair!.
It's been 2.5 days since it was installed and its wearing in and vibration is getting softer. Wonder how it will feel after a month or so.

Car does feel more planted to the ground on heavy throttle, engine movement is less sloppy, oppose to the stock which wasnt as stiff.

Pulled apart the rest of the Meisters over the weekend. Man it took some time...

Finally loaded the lips and centres into the car.

Outter lips have been dropped off @ Morton and May (Warwick Farm) for polishing

Lips will be dropped off @ Mr Kleen Padstow for sandblasting and powdercoating.
