View Full Version : The Twins and a new addition!

Thought I'd post a few pics of the twins together and our new addition to the family (next Wednesday)

Mine as most know is pretty much standard. 2005 GTI. Dad's is a 2008 GT Sport and has the ChippedUK fast road tune installed which brings it up to around 150kw and 410nm.

Both have RNS510's installed by us. Dad and I are can pull a MKV dash apart in about 10 mins without breaking anything. We've done it enough times haha.

I like driving both cars, its incredible the amount of difference there is between them. The GT sport has so much torque with the remap, pins you to the seat a lot more than the stock GTI. But the GTI is sportier and has a heap of character which is what I love about it (not saying the GT sport doesn't have character...I just fell in love with the GTI)

Performance wise.....the GTI is a bit quicker up to 100km/h but once you get passed 120km/h the GT sport eats it. Who ever knew a tractor could be so fast?

Anyways, I know how much we all like pics so here are a few.

And finally........the new addition to the family is.....a MKIV 2.0L Manual Golf.
>D

This will be my brothers car. These are only the dealer pics, but its a beautiful little car. The gearbox, clutch and accelerator feel like they've been taken out of a german tank...it feels more solid than mine...lol
And I don't know why they're really called a 2.Slow because I reckon it goes really well considering its power output. I'll be driving the MKIV a bit to spread the km's around so I don't get too many on the GTI. I have a few plans for it...

Thanks guys!
Yes we like our white cars
:p

In the future (atleast a few months) looking at getting rims for it, darker tint, stubby antenna.
Then later down the track updated hella clear tails, possibly front lights, a tune of somesort, better air filter and perhaps a colour code (atleast the handles and strips).

Got some of the ideas from the mighty car mods vid. If you have the time, watch it from 9mins onwards, the video they did is awesome

Haha MK.

There are gonna be some awesome photo opportunities when the MKIV gets it aesthetic upgrades done.
I think our neighbours will officially think we're German extremists though LOL, they already look at us funny having two Golf's.

Nice family of cars you've got there.
You should arrange a bulk discount for servicing at your local dealer.

Thanks fellas.

We may be able to hopefully work something out with the local dealer in Nowra when it opens.

We arranged extended warranty for the MKIV this afternoon with Jaz at Southern Classic in Wollongong.
She gave us a nice discount. Usually extended 3yr warranty costs around $1100 for the MKIV, we're getting it for $850

 Hell yeah! In the words of Jeremy Clarkson a la Top Gear Lorry Driver Special - "I'm gonna need a hell of a lot of paint..."

Funny how it's supposed to be your brother's car, and you're already planning mods for it :D

Bahah very funny benough
:p :D

There are a few others around (comfortlines, MKVI 118s etc) but not many GTIs or R32s (maybe 3 GTI and 2 R32?) There is a nice black 3DR r32 at the hospital.
Although what I find quite strange is there are a few GT sports getting around. There is another white one getting around town. They're pretty rare in white anyway we were surprised when we saw it...lol

In saying that though, I had a bit of fun last Thursday heading to work with another MKV CW GTI. It was driven by an older woman and she was having a good old time 'safely' keeping up with me in traffic
;)

Picked it up a day early.
:)

Its an awesome car, I love it.
Here are some crappy phone photos, will get better ones when I have some time.

Few things I noticed, its the GLE model which includes cruise control and fog lights (even a rear fog too).
And it was built in Wolfsburg.

Thanks Burgs.
He is still on his L's at the moment, but I'll be taking him out a fair bit in it over the next year or so.
When I got home from work and went into the carport he was already out there giving it a clean and had a huge grin on his face. He'll be a convert in no time.

A few quick shots I took on Monday.
:)

I've been driving the MKIV for the past 2 days, awesome little car. Pulls like a train up hills. Easily overtakes a lot of newer cars without much effort.
And its good on fuel too. 580kms at the moment and still above 1/4 tank. I am looking forward to driving mine tomorrow though, I always get excited if I havent driven it for a day or two haha.

Other than 5 door MKV's and privates imports weren't all aussie golfs made in Wolfsburg?

My MK2 is Wolfsburg.

Hehe well this week I've driven the GTI every day so far. Usually I take the MKIV a couple of times per week, but ever since I got it bluefinned I cant stop driving it

Hopefully it doesn't rain on sunday on the way up lol.
