A bargain is an understatement! I saw that price at first and panicked that mine will be worth less than i though but just a great buy mate. Probably beter off waiting for some coilovers at the right price than just chucking the springs in bro.. the handling will be worlds appart, great rims too!
What are your plans with it... lots of mods or just a few?

Traction still sucks lol but the turn in feels sharper, I think I may have loosened a engine mount or something similar though as the gear changes are a lot louder now, and I don't think its just the extra harshness.. Could be.. I'd recommend the WALK cause it fixes the issue of mid corner lift, you still understeer a bit but not as much as before. I think I could use a dog bone insert and a rear sway bar still.. So might look into that next and some bigger brakes :p

Ok sweet, thats what they should do but some ppl cant notice it much (novices ;) sounds good scotty.
Yeah the RSB is the best mod you will do handling wise bro, prob better off getting front and rear adjustable ones though and setting the rear to the stiffest setting. Turn in on mine now is evil and the main limiting factor when she lets go is more so the rear end rather than understeer.. given that its driven right though.
Your cars coming along nicely bro :D

Anyway im loving the look (so is my entourage lol)

Car has also hit 50,000KM's, so i got the major 60,000km service done early and the above mentioned engine mounts/gearbox mounts installed.

The mounts make the gear shift feel amazing, there is now no signs of axle tramp at all and the handling definitely feels improved due to the less dramatic weight transfer under acceleration/braking. I recommend these to anyone who has a older car, as your stock ones are probably rooted and you dont even know it.

hey mate how do you find the springs ? im thinking of them

The springs give a very nice look and definitely make the car firmer, however i have noticed that ive been scrubbing a little, so im considering going to full coil overs or maybe even buying some tuned dampers. Its mainly during extreme driving, but thats when you really dont want your car to be sitting on its tyres... lol

Hi Scotty,

Thanks for sharing your GTI.

Just wondering where you bought the small antenna you fitted? I would like to change it on my GT SPORT :)

I grabbed it off a forum member, but many sites such as the linked will sell the same item.

Awesome car. 172kw atw must be blitzing fast for our little cars.

Thanks, it is scary fast, which is why I only lasted a week or two before i went for a BBK, definitely the best value upgrade besides a ECU tune.
As for the lights, im guessing you mean the first picture? That was actually taken by the people who did my vehicle inspection, so im guessing they just had the hazards on and took the photo at the right time.

Anyway, more on the GTI!

Next plan is to upgrade the audio, in my previous MKV, i had 2x 1000w subs in the hatch and it pumped

http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/6773_114667205145_511095145_2796272_2016708_n.jpg

Thinking i might go for a custom install this time though and get everything mounted flush, rather than a hatch full of speaker boxes :P

I think mines lower

Yep yours is lower as I have the same rims as burgs and they stick out more and judging by his pics, he lowered to just above the tyres which is what I'm after as well. I'd love to go as low as yours but +40 offset would require some guard rolling and probably -2 camber

After driving around the akuna bay loop, i decided that its probably time to get some coil overs as the rides a bit harsh with just springs, not so much harsh as poorly damped.. so in the next few weeks I should get some fitted, at the same time ill probably do the front and rear sway bars, and then the next project is audio... not sure what to do with that, anyone know if its easy to source a cheapish RNS510?

A K04 doesnt make that much more power on my car really... 30kw max id say, so its really not worth the cash, especially considering i can spin my wheels in 3rd and even 4th on some occasions from the torque i have... :D and K03 is more responsive, better economy, etc

Apparently they couldn't get the side skirts off the car without breaking them, and because I got this done for free on the side with my insurance job i didnt feel like paying for more side skirts. Might get it done later, but at the same time the contrast is nice.

Just doing this while i get my BBS repaired, after which I will get new rubber and put them back on.

Handling is fun with these tyres but wheel spin is back to insane with a slight reduction in wheel size!

Hey Scott,

Mate your cars looking great. Do you have any new pics of how the new coil-overs look like?? I would stick to the K03 mate not worth a 6K upgrade :/ As what you sad the K03 is more responsive on the long term. What are running atw ATM? I'm looking at 190/195atw for mine. ;)

I know you would be pushing it with the K03, but GIAC has baby files of the extreme tune for the k03. I have a feeling that it could be possible. Even if its not 195, 190 should be k.

My pump has arrived as well. I'm keen to see the differences and dyno results of your car snott since you got 170+ last time. :)

Im not just looking for peak power (cause really the K03 wont be able to hit >200kw), but im hoping to strengthen the mid range a bit.

The next piece to be purchased is a front mount intercooler, followed by some higher flow discharge and intake pipe, and a PCV fix/catch can setup, then will get the whole lot re-tuned for a few days by BWA and see how it goes :D

I have read up a lot on the HPFP and re-tune on the US forums and everything I read is positive.. some (locals) have told me dont bother but all the US forum boys say that the butt dyno definitely can tell there is a healthy mid and upper range increase in power.
