View Full Version : new car in the family
took delivery of it April 1st
im a closet french car fanatic. my mum has always had Peugeots (she HATES golfs) so when it came time to replace her 2006 Peugeot 307 Sport-180 i ordered her a new 308 XTS. she didnt know what colour to get so i made it white >D
its no GTI when it comes to handling and performance but it does have the same 128kw 1.6 turbo from the mini cooper S so its pretty pokey. the sports seats are more comfortable than the GTIs. glass roof is awesome too.
mum is very happy with it, being the XTS its got every single option too so its better specced than my GTI.
its also a very rare car, they only sold a handful of them and our one is the last one they ever delivered into Australia as they have since discontinued the model :(

Looks cool, the Pugs are getting fairly stylish like the roof!
Now thats a nice Pug!
The glass roof is a nice touch.
:)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but someone once told me that the 3 series Pugs were better built than the 4 series?
For example I drive my my bosses 407 HDi occasionally and its worse than a commodore when it comes to rattles and creaks etc (even he said the same thing)
I don't know if this is a standard thing when them or not?
But the 308 looks better built. Not sure why, there is just something about it...lol
Nice car! I bet your Mum is happy

thats one happy looking pug!
cheers everyone.
my mum has only driven it once since delivery at that was to the shops... i just came back from taking it down south for the long weekend with my gf. put 930kms on it. best of all it only averaged 7.3l per 100! ive done the same trip in the GTI and i was lucky to get 10l. its not like i was taking it easy either.
funny thing is we have had loads of Peugeots (206s, 306s, 307s etc) and oddly my GTIs have had more troubles than all of them put together! as far as im concerned the myths about dodgey Peugeot reliability are false. this new 308 feels just as well built as my GTI.

That roof looks awesome! Wonder what it would look like without the black plastic strip over the grill?

Wow that glass roof looks mad!

The front bumper? :D
Does it look too much like a set of braces? I am aware that Golfs are quite popular amongst dentists (at least those at a Canberra convention).
This one might be good for othodontists - with the bumper made dental as anything. :)
Nice buy and well done to your Mum for her taste in cars.

Awesome, it arrived.
Our 308 is pretty decent contender to the Golf in many ways, some of the way the option them are a but strange though.
I regret not getting satnav now in ours, as retrospectively there is no way to install. You did not spec it did you?
Those pedals and shift knob did not come on ours (XSE, must be an XTE thing), but I have them on the way from OS at the moment along with some Eibach springs = maybe I should have ordered a set of springs for you also? ;)

Is it worth lowering it for your Mum? I don't understand why you would bother, unless it needed a better setup than standard or if perhaps it had a 4WD gap appearance after getting lower-profile tyres.
Mikinoz you're already modding your new wagon? :D

haha cheers for the offer! apparently the XTS sits 15mm lower than standard but it looks the same to me. it also has different dampers.. the ride is just as firm as my GTI on 18s. didnt option the sat nav... my mum used to be a town planner and recons she knows her way around perth not to need it. have to give her some credit, she cant drive for shit but she does know how to read a map LOL

yeah theres no point lowering it. she wil just scrape the lip even more on curbs and the like. i agree it would look tougher sitting 20+ mm lower but im resisting the urge not to touch it.

Debadge the 308 and Peugeot lettering on the boot lid! And a stubby antenna for sure.
You should check out one of these no holes brackets and cradles for the iPhone, I got one and am quite impressed.

and then you can choose a cradle from their site to match. I'll try to take a pic later.

kinda annoyed me that our 308 is the most expensive highly specced 308 yet there is nothing on it to say so
Nice Prince. Years ago, my wife had a 307 Station Wagon. It drove and drove without any problems whatsoever.
