Unless all of you are ladies and gentlemen of the track, did anyone hit OPH today?

~1PM I spotted, driving just north of Pie in the Sky, a nice red MkVI GTI headed south.

There were a couple of GTIs leaving Pie in the Sky (PITS) a little earlier, just after we arrived in the Jetta. There was a lot of two-wheeled Euro exotica parked near the pies, too.

It would be fantastic for us to arrange a drive up OPH which involves parking at PITS and enjoying this place. There is plenty of parking on the south side; there was ~20 cars there today.



On a sadder but positive note, a big, big thumbs up to the MX5 group who paid their respects, for quite some time, at the spot of our sadly departed brothers lost their lives just over a week ago. I coudldn't find this group seated at PITS but did note that after paying their respects near the fatal corner, they made it over to PITS.

Because any vehicle with 8 cylinders or more is restricted on your provisional license

Plus i have heard, there are some cars exempt from the list... eg. Audi A5... the 2l turbo... majority of the C class... maybe not the c63 i guess. even the passat 147tsi are on the exemption list.

Plus overseas license transfer can be exempted as well... so quite a few possibilities why he is driving that car.

CW GTI 6 spotted on the road from Wollombi to Pokolbin. Driven like an old lady. I hope that this was just an isolated incident... 10km+ below the posted speed limit.

OTOH, a basic silver Jetta bolted past us as we gave way at a winery intersection; it was doing far in excess of the usual speed on the road further down the road from Wollombi.
A diesel, too (no pipes), although I saw no soot, so maybe FSI!

Our Jetta was a champ today. I would bet it could take 10+ cases of plonk in the back. :)

Spotted again (nice spot, Rocco!) at the northern bike cafe on OPH, between Peats Ridge and Brooklyn.

Some other Mk6 GTIs (and another one or two MkVs) spotted earlier on the drive, between Peats Ridge and Kulnurra.
Plus a black Octavia wagon with DRLs.

Cam, I agree that cheap festoon LEDs look terrible and embarrassing to anyone with OEM ones.
The Skoda ones are tasteful - just three or so on the edges, but not as ugly as the wall of VE Clubby ones.

While we're on the subject - the pics above show a gold front but white rear plate lettering. Presumably that's just the lighting and they are actually silver colour. Is this correct?
