I pod upgrade speakers and sub

just got the girl friend a 04 golf FSI comfortline line lovely car just wondering some options on how to fit an i pod cable into it and also want to upgrade the speakers to some focal or jl splits with an amp and maybe a sub. just wondering if the factory head unit will allow me to do all this or do i need to change it to an after market one.. id rather keep the factory look though.

just after some ideas or what some of you have done and how hard it is to do

To change the speakers and amp, you will have to change the whole shibang.
as far as the Ipod cable. if it is genuine vw ipod cable then its a matter of finding a DIY for a mk5.

Go on ebay and type in vw golf mk4 there will be headinit come up 6inch screens which will fit perfectly and will look origional in the car if you want a pik i can show you the stereo supports sd cards got gps navigation dvd mp3etc much better than the origional one with speakers and subs go for vibe also vibe have splits yes they are dear but they give you a nice sharp bass and good treble and bass especially with that head unit it sounds good it gives you a nice noise which uou will admire while driving
