Ive recently bought a 'brand new' Golf GTI .. And have discovered you can get VW led rear lights .. I've called our Adelaide VW people who have pretty much said it's a new wiring job and retrofitting is not an option... Is this true ? I spoke to car toys .. Who seem to know everything .. And they've said if I buy the genuine lights they will fit ..and wiring is usually easily altered. It's going to cost $over $1000 to get the lights .. And VW have said they're non returnable ...

Hi Nathan,
You may want to introduce yourself first on the forum, in the introductions section.
As for re-wiring, not entirely true, the LED Tails are actually plug and play. You just need the right adapter for them and also some VAGCOM work.
The lights themselves can be purchased from several online sellers, even ebay sellers direct from Germany. An example below of a very popular site for tail lights...

A few members on here have already done this mod and its relatively simple, one member i can think of, off the top of my head is "totogti".... The LED Tails look absolutely spectacular!
Also another word of advice, try to do a quick search on this forum or a general google, you will be guarranteed to get quite a few hits!
GL and welcome to VWG!!

I did it, in my case I choose to swap the lenses,
They are Plug-Play you have two options
1.- Do the cross wiring
2.- Swap the lenses

I bought mine from Ebay from this seller in Germany. Only $600. (plus post) They were the cheapest compared to others, including OZRAM's dealer. This seller also throws in the adapters.

You'll need VAGCOM to clear the fault codes that will come up. The LEDS use less resistance than the other OEM bulbs. You need to tell the car it has the LED's installed.
