Hi guys,

well what a weekend. Hit some bloody big pot holes last couple of weeks and over the last year as I do a lot of driving on Sydney's crap roads. Anyway Friday night the low tyre pressure indicator comes on. I check the tyre , seems ok, check again Saturday seems ok no time to get to tyre shop for nitro refill. Sunday tyrE is now almost flat.

Get to tyre shop turns out rim is damaged and the tyre is also damaged and unsafe to keep driving on. So here's my question if anyone can help:

I'm on bridgestone re 050 which he quoted me $470 for a new one. I've since calked a couple of bridgestone dealers and have been quoted $560-640 as being retail-dies anyone know where I can get a replacemt tyre fir less than $470 or should I just go with this guy? BTW it's $150 to have the rim repaired, add on a wheel alignment and it's now over $700-ouch!

Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Could check Tirerack and see what their pricing are like - otherwise ring aroung a few more places and play them against each other.

Other option is to do insurance job but def not worth it ?

Seems about right to repair wheel - have you got pics of damaged wheel/tyre ?

Goodluck eitherway.

Agree with frenchie for around $200 US you'll pick up a replacement tyre from them with shipping you'll still be better off. All depends on how long you're willing to wait

thanks for your help guys,

Looks like I might just have to take this one on the chin. No photos I'm afraid as the wheel was taken off this morning and had no camera with me. he said he'll see what he can do with the price but oh well that's the price to pay for the low profile and the crap roads I guess.

Note to self-if the tyres are low and you can't get a nitro refill its ok to put air in the tyres when they have nitro as well, Doh! But the potholes were def the cause.

thanks again guys!

i heard somewhere that if it is a pothole that damagged your car you can take a photo of the pothole and the damage and take it to the council. They have been known to reimburse you for the $$.

^ that is good news but could be a long and drawn out process...
