For those in Melbourne, who did you get your golf tinted by?

I am looking at getting mine done. Thinking legal for fronts 35% but maybe 20 or 25% for rears and back.

Was just going to go to tint a car, but wondering if anyone has any other recommendations for good tinters in Melbourne

John, I just had my GTI done a few weeks ago at

Car Tint Pty Ltd. Factory 16. 513-515 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood. Tel. Robert Tait. 0417 755 537. www.cartint.net.au

Rob is a first rate guy and he does a brilliant job. You might get it done cheaper elsewhere but not better. While you're waiting you can oggle his Ferrari F430. Drool.

I've also done a small strip at the top of my windscreen about 10 cm in width (secret ninja mod). Whilst you are thinking of tinting. Will try to post a pic tonight.

well i just heard back from Rob Chris and he won't do it.
Says golfs are a pain in the back side and doesn't want to see another one

Thanks for the reference Terence.

One quick question, with the metal film, do you find it interferes with the aerial built into the rear window?
Any issues with radio reception?

Thanks

i did look at the black azz, looks allot darker
Can i ask why you would prefer the eclipse?

i will talk to them to see if they think the metal film will interfere with the aerial in the mk6 which i believe is in the rear window

Hi John
Found this old thread tonite. Awaiting delivery of a new GTI next month. Very interested in your feedback regarding your window tint. Also tried Rob who still won't do GTI's. Sungard Brighton on their website don't indicate they do cars. Can you recommend someone for me, please?

I have pu everything on hold with the GTI at the moment till i decide if i am keeping it or passing it on to the wife

If you do end up tinting, I had a small strip of tinting applie to the top of my windscreen. You just have to make sure that the width of the tint extending down from the roof is within the acceptable limits. But I find it quite useful cutting down morning/afternoon glare. It also didn't cost me more.

Yeah i tried him as well, and said same thing wont do Golfs, he's done plenty of those and hates it. He says its difficult. Bit strange for a Pro tinter to say its difficult.
Anwyays i'm getting mine done at Tint A Car Box Hill this Saturday. So we'll see how it turns out.

Rob hates VW's cos the door panels are a PITA to remove >D He used to tint VWs in the past without removing the door panels. However, removing the door panels gives a better result and Rob is a perfectionist! Ask him for a referral though, he has got contacts to do VWs :)

Just had a look at his website and noted that he has removed the red GTI he tinted from the Gallery
