With out incriminating myself!

this car is insane.:> u can just throw it into any corner and it just hangs on
Get that power down left then right 3/3.5 thousand revs peaking at 4 thous dont change up brake turn left back on the power then right hold it modgelate that screaming sexy power curve :lol:shit car cumming other way fuck that was close no time to reminise back on the power left and right holding that power curve 3.5thousand brake;) ,,corner after corner (with great camber on this bit of road droping few 100meters) so much fun.
lame road ahead quick turn around and go do it the other way, 2or 3 times then leave ...
i just love this little car it does so much for its size and price
that sweet wail cumming from behind reminds me of my mates 355 feva (sweet ride that)
dont now if the dsg would hold gears like that ,be dangerous if it didnt.

shame i wont be able to test drive the r20 on same bit of road to make a real decision on it.

thats what ive done up to. how about u??

may be ill u tube it .........

I do stupid things in real life too but this isn't the place to celebrate it. Keep it for the track/circuit and you can celebrate nailing apexes and brake modulation as much as you like!

Last night I gave the car a bit of stick into a corner and felt a "chug-chug" sensation/sound. Was this the ESP coming on? I've never seen the ESP light come on although I'm not exactly looking at the speedo while I'm driving hard through a corner.
I'm still trying to learn the steering's behaviour while going at 7-8/10ths around a sweeping bend. It seems that the slightest correction of tightening the line would bring the car in too much (thottle being constant).

Also, trying to modulate the throttle while mid-corner is still a guess as to what the car will do. Coming from RWD cars, give it a bit of stick and it will bring the rear around to rotate more, whereas with the AWD, sometimes I feel the rears kicking in to pull me out of the corner, whereas other times I feel it draws my line wider. I think it's quite dependent on corner radius and speed but I'm finding it a bit of a steep learning curve with this AWD system.

The R32 sure is a big heavy numb thing after an overly razor sharp (almost twitchy) S2000 isn't it?!

I know what you mean HercMax I was discussing this with someone just recently. My last car was an E36 BMW 328i sedan which had a full Bilstein rebuild and I always knew when it was at it's limits, very easy to correct the line through all stages cornering. The R32 is a diffrent beast altogether.

I have had my R for over a year now and I still struggle to modulate mid-corner throttle. I haven't come close to finding the limits, and I don't plan to unless I track it as it's currently my DD, but AWD is definitely a steep learning curve.

Maybe I'm just a crap driver? >D

Haha well maybe I'm in the same crap category too. I guess we share the same bad habits or background from our previous car.
I don't find the R32 numb and heavy as it still turns in and changes direction fairly well (try driving a Camry which I felt I needed a boating licence for) but mid-corner I'm a little lost. As a DD, it's brilliant. Up until 7/10ths it's a dream to drive but going beyond that is a little bit of guesswork as I'm not that accustomed to the AWD setup and ESP intervention. With the S2000, there is only the rear driven wheels and no electronic aids to intervene so despite being "skittish" you at least knew what it would do with a tug of the wheel or prod of the throttle. The only thing that could catch you off guard was crossing the VTEC crossover point mid-corner while on the throttle. With the R32 however, everywhere on the rev range is like the VTEC crossover point. :) Then you wouldn't know if the prod of throttle would tighten or widen your line. Also, I noticed a "chug-chug" sound/sensation after taking a hard corner. Was this the ESP kicking in? I didn't notice the ESP light as I was looking at the road.

Another thing I'm trying to get used to is there's a tremendous shove at around 2500rpm but once past 3500-4000rpm it tapers off like the opposite of the Honda engine. I'm still running it in so I haven't been revving towards redline too much.

It's a fun and challenging car, in a different way to the S2000. I love it when you do nail a corner though and the AWD lets you put the throttle on so much earlier. I actually look forward to the rain whereas in the S2000 it was the other way around.

I haven't noticed the ESP kick in too intrusively in my R, which obviously means I'm not driving it hard enough ;)

The shove until around the 3-3.5k that you are talking about is the torque, max torque tapers at around 3.5k, you'll notice that the engine starts running out of puff around 4-4.5k

I'm looking into a map at the moment that is being sold by a company in the UK called Custom-Code, they have a dealer in Oz, but the map isn't available hear yet. They are claiming some bigger than usual increases in BHP and the engine 'apparently' has more urgency all the way to redline, which is increased to approx 7k, but I'll wait for a few more success stories before posting any info on this forum.

Would be interested to hear about it. I've been toying with the idea of the APR tune which reportedly pushes it up to 198kw. I think from their site it says $850 and then $1100 fully loaded. What's the difference? So many different opinions on the ECU upgrades though. Some say they're a waste of money, some say it's worth it for the extra drivability and filling in torque holes. Some users are reporting a better 0-100 run of around 0.2 secs.
So much conjecture... That and the Haldex upgrade but at around $2k that's a lot of money.

fully loaded would come with all those extra options such as theft, different petrol options, granny mode, lockout, etc

I was initially looking at the APR map but I haven't heard too many peeps saying that it is worth the money for an R32, GTI is a different story altogether. The APR tunes for Turbo models increase outputs significantly, but from what I have heard (not experienced) it's hard to get the power to the wheels.

The Custom-Code maps are consistenty reporting increases of 35-40 BHP and similar torque increases. These gains are being made with Milltek cat-back fitted, but I would presume the figures would be similar with any after-market zorst. I don't know if the increases for standard kit are much more than those stated by APR.

I don't know anyone with the Haldex upgrade but I've heard it's a decent improvement, but you're right, it's reasonably expensive.

Decisions, decisions!!!

trying the APR re map this weekend
so far it has smothed out the rev range especially at top end
ill let u now if it has the fun factor.

The boys at Harding performance in brissy are great guys and have some top toys in there garage.

Great. I'd be interested to hear your feedback. How much did it cost and which package did you get if you don't mind me asking?
Also when you say it smoothed out the top end, what exactly did it do? I thought the top end was pretty smooth already and the VR6 revs quite freely.

It was a six hour re flash. I ran it around prety hard bake to bake on same roads and yes it did make an improvenment (slight) but to way it up i would probably modify suspension / haldex / lighter wheels first.
lets see what the jbs vvt attack software is like ?
Jbs vvt with new extractors cold air intake would be best or get an new R probable cost the same ?
Saying that im happy with my NA R32 for now.
