In most cases price reflects quality... Where are they made??

I think they are made in Taiwan or China.

They are the same manufacturer as the D2 brands which Peak Performance sell.

Just check them regularly, kaan for any sign of hairline cracks. And the calipers too for any sign of fluid leaks.
Should be ok.

Hmm I don't see the sense of strapping on parts made on the cheap from China/Tiawan onto a German engineered car. Their product base spreads across a lot of manufacturers and models. I wonder how well the parts are designed for each model..

Not to China/Taiwan bash but yes I agree to an extent with ar44's post. Usually there is a reason why its cheap...and any motoring product made in China i'm skeptical about as most are copies.

Case in point : http://www.jdmyard.com/2010/04/beware-fake-asr-brace/

I've said it to myself and I've said it to everyone I know who likes to mod cars : QUALITY SPEAKS FOR ITSELF! Sure you may have to fork out a bit of dosh to get it, but personally, I'd rather do something right and properly the first time with something I know, trust and is proven to be a reliable and respected product.

That's not to say that these calipers/brakes won't do the job just as well as Brembo's/AP Racings. Who knows? I don't. I'm just saying that I'm still skeptical. Looks good, but only time will tell when/if the OP decides to do a review on these. This might be one of the rare cheap GOOD mods available on the market. But again, I'm always skeptical about something Made in China.

If this is true and I dont mean to dampen your recent purchase Kaan, D2 quality is not up there. They also make D2 suspension I believe which is also not that desirable. However, the SAU drivers seem to use them a lot as aftermarket BBK's so who knows. There are 3 known reputable aftermarket BBKs I would put my hard earned dollars on. Alcon, AP Racing and Brembo. Then there is HPA/HGP, ABT and Porsche. Let us know how you go. Impressive 8 pot fits on your wheels? Did you have to put spacers to get it in?

They look the shit! I recon paint over the K-Sport then put on a brembo stencil.. that will shut everyone up :P

Does anyone else think 8 pot brakes on a GTI or R32 is kind of overkill? Especially considering how good the GTI's brakes are for a daily driver.

Unless it's running some crazy, crazy power under the hood, and it's only ever run at the track, I don't see the point. It's just eye-candy otherwise. Unsprung weight might not be that much of a saving between 8 pots with larger rotors vs the stock setup.

Good luck though. I hope they do the job for you and stand the test of time. They do look good.

I do, I was looking at getting a BBK for mine but just saw it as overkill so settled for the R32 fronts.

Nevertheless it comes down to personal preference 2,500 is a pretty good price for a BBK

k04 upgrade with other mods doesn't sound very new to modding hahahah you already blew 2.5gs so just hope for the best and give a review now and one later on down track

This might be a little off topic, but here goes:

Brakes are designed to stop the car. The bigger the CONTACT area between the PADS and the ROTORS the better and more effective since it creates more FRICTION that stops the car.
The PISTONS or pots pushes the pads against the rotors. More pistons means better pressure distribution to ensure optimum contact between the pads and the rotors.
CALLIPER construction also play an important role here. The more rigid the better.
2 piece rotors make a lot of weight saving at the expense of cost and durability.

Also, often overlooked, but good tyres are just as important. If you have good brakes and shitty tyres, it will be pointless, since the braking force can't be channeled to the road surface.

My 2 cents.

Ah, thanks for clarifying that, John. The heat indeed need to dissipate. That is also why the rotors are vented.

Hehe. I know you know this tuner well, Rob.
But I think motor sport application with regular checks is fine

I've had a K-Sport BBK on my E46 M3 for over 3 years now - no issues at all with the kit - thats regular driving and a few track days. A set of pads had problems, but that was it. They're an AP Racing replica, so are easy to get pads for.

I'll be switching to Stoptech all round, but mainly because I'm a stoptech agent, and having k-sport on there isn't ideal! :D

I've a good friend who is a main stockist back home of them, I'm sure they could be had for less than $2500 landed if anyone was interested.

AP Racing replica brakes? WTF!

KSport > OEM brakes

Free Ksports >>> OEM and damaged brakes

They're a good setup, really don't understand the brand snobbery. Cheap isn't always shit.

For general every day driving where brake capacity and capabilities is at most 30-40% that's fine ;-)

Try these suckers on a race track in punishing conditions and it's a different story ;-) trust me!

It's not brand snobbery for people who rely on their brakes to haul up real quick. For the show cars???? Well I can't speak for that :)

I know of cars that had these fitted where bolts have sheared clean off and rotors cracking like biscuits and suspension mounts shearing clean away

That scares me!

You must have skipped the part in my post where I said I tracked my M3 - at Mondello Park, which is one of the more technical tracks in Europe. I'm not trying to sell them to anyone, they're TUV approved brakes, they work better than OEM.

As I said - I know the main supplier - he hasn't had a single set returned for any of the issues you've described, and I had 3 years of hassle free motoring.

i have read it ;-) and you havent read my post where i said I know one tuner who uses it and races it using D2 BBK.... but inspected very regularly.

what i am telling you is I know of instances where these fail spectacularly on the race tracks with parts shearing off! So i'm giving both sides of the fence!

2008 Time attack and club class winners both used them - K sport, not D2.

k sport and d2 are the same gear from what i am aware of. Just rebadged ;-)

My understanding, whether right or wrong, is that while they are both the same design, they are different companies, and are manufactured differently. The ksport are TUV approved (fairly stringent German testing) whereas D2 aren't afaik.

As I said, I'm not trying to sell them to anyone - I can get Stoptech cheaper and brembo's for the same cost (well I got my KSports for free, but you get the point) - and I have wilwoods on my E30. My main point is that they've had 3 years of tough driving on my M3 and I've had no problems with them. If you're asking if there are there better quality choices available, then the answer is an obvious yes.
