current mods...

- custom tan interior
- plasti dipped denvers
- H&R supersports & Koni shocks
- Hand made badgeless grill by me & Rogue Status Printed front!!
- open grills
- Carbonio (fail and is getting changed)
- Work Rezaxx's 18" - inner barrels white, Tiff faces, Gold plated wheel screws... looking at going wider now...
- gernade valve caps LOL

future mods
- notch insert
- stage 2 with TBE and new intake
- new suspension set up (B&G"S or Fks or perhaps Bagyard!!!)
- another wheel setup for shows being a stagger set up & stretch
- RNS 510 potentially

They were supposed to be finished on Friday but will now be picking them up tomorrow as they were left to be baked over the weekend and final polishing today and reseal...

hmmmm i am thinking about keep them under wraps until nationals but then again it doesnt really matter as its not like they will be anything special..

little update but will fail with no pics yet LOL...

wheels are all finished... they busted a valve stem so I have had to track down another one but ended up buying a whole set... this has been a crazy exercise and spoken to about 15 different places trying to track down a set in stock...

one bit of advice, never rebuild a set of older 3 piece wheels... Work do not make any replacement part for my wheels easily and have to call favors and had people looking in there old boxes for parts etc.. i still cannot find a tool to tighten the centre hub nut as they no longer make them so will end up probably using a set of vice grips heavly wrapped in tap or foam...

This weekend I am having a crack at painting !!!! I am going to respray the front end to get rid of all the stone chips and also going to do a colour code of the side skirts and bumper... hopefully comes out alright..

next things to do before nationals are...

- valve stems installed and tires on
- spray out the red brakes to black i think (youll see why at nationals)
- Polish car once paint cures but wont be able to wax etc as paint needs to breath for about 2-3 months...
- Detail car
- Painters tape the front of my car for drive down to nationals..
- install awesome valve caps
- Drink heaps with Big Yellow while in Sydney!!!!!!!!! LOL

well been busy weekend... i will apologise that they are phone pics, I wasnt going to take my SLR to the shop..

On Friday night me and my best mate stripped my car for a colour code and also respray the front end to get rid of the stone chips from my 180km drive each day back and forth from work... I was fortunate enough to be able to use the panel shop which he manages but on the condition I did 90% of the work LOL...

So we striped the car being - catch tray, centre grill, front bumper, bonnet, side skirts and bottom section of bumper...

First needed to Wizz all clear off ready filling and priming... Me getting into it!!!

Next Morning

We wizzed the dry primed panels and then wet sanded after filling any slight holes etc on the panels that the primer didnt grab...

Next we prepsoled all the plastics ie side skirts and bumper ready for plastic primer...

- I stopped taking photos at this point.... sorry..

All the parts were then painted and left over night to dry and then rebaked in the morning to ensure they were set...

Then we put together the car again which took about 1.5 hours... the bumper was a slight pain in the ass due to the flex where the number plate sits.. the rest was easy...

I also painted all the honey comb sections with Krylon paints... leaves a great finish that isnt gloss but like you have detailed that area but permanent... highly recommended...

anyway here is a quick shot straight after we finished... still very dirty from primer dust etc but getting a bath this afternoon now...

I was going to wait for nationals as a surpirse but Well since everyone seems to be sharing before nationals... finally finished bit of a secret project... few ppl knew but kept on the down low...

So they are Work Rezaxx... Waited over 3 months for the gold screws as a custom order from Work Japan.. The centres are bascially Tiffany & Co colour and the inner barrels have been painted white... They have been redrilled to 5x112 and offset it +45... the width is only 7.5 right now which sucks but have ordered another bigger lip so they will be 8.5 all around but wont be ready for nationals... this should sit quite flush which is what i wanted but ran out of time..

yesterday tyres were fitted but was MAJOR FAIL... picked up 225/40/18 and they look so stupid..it look like a JDM circuit car or tractor... trying to get a set of 225/35/18 before I leave for the drive down to sydney...

I have tried to do something slightly different to what people have at the moment in australia. I know they will get hate or love but that cool i dont really mind...

bad part there will be wheel gap.. i am still on H&R Supersports and Koni shocks until i fix my driveway... once this is fixed, coils will come and a proper stance dialled in.. feedback welcome but hey tried something but havent pulled it off great yet...

PS. you might also notice that my front strip has also been colour matched to the wheels.. surprised this wasnt picked up with my other photo!!!!

For me 100% trial and error kinda guy. Half the fun is trying to make things work.

Hey Byron cheers mate, overall there were 4 catergories:

Paint, bodykit and presentation
Interior
Engine Bay
Wheels, suspension and Exhaust

The performance mods you had did lack a little which is where your downfall was. It was upsetting cause I really liked your car and marked it quite high due to its overall presence, something that I think no one in the mk5 scene has done in Australia. I think everyone plays it too safely, it was good to see someone go beyond the expectations :)

Byza... no my gti has oem suspension for now... i think your car looks awesome, but i recall reading that you are contemplating upgrading to coilovers? Just wondering why - but i think i know now... to get lower to the bitumen!! Not necessarily handling/ride issue.

The reason i ask....? As a shock & spring combo, i think you've nailed it, and i possibly will consider same set-up on mine - but if you thought it wasnt good enough, (hence the need to upgrade to coilovers) i'd be interested to know why.

Byza... no my gti has oem suspension for now... i think your car looks awesome, but i recall reading that you are contemplating upgrading to coilovers? Just wondering why - but i think i know now... to get lower to the bitumen!! Not necessarily handling/ride issue.

The reason i ask....? As a shock & spring combo, i think you've nailed it, and i possibly will consider same set-up on mine - but if you thought it wasnt good enough, (hence the need to upgrade to coilovers) i'd be interested to know why.

this is the highest car i have ever owned and want coils to get low... only reason this hasnt already been done ages ago is the last house and my new house has shit driveway and scrape at the bottom and top LOL... going to fix that but metal plates and shaving the top of the driveway...

the setup i have now is awesome.. sits flat, great in the hills, good on the track, adjustable rebound etc... worth a look if your not wanting coils...
