hey guys/ girls

well I've ordered my H&R sways, plus new brake pads that will reduce the amount of brake dust then the original ones.

put I've been given an option to get kw's for a decent price (which i wasn't going to do for a while) but the opportunity has come up and im thinking of jumping on them.

only thing being that i want to take my car to the track but i won't know when this will happen, kw3 sound abit like overkill if not taking to the track.

but i would like some personal opinions , also have read the reviews done on http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100863

cheers

I'd just get the KW1 or 2. Agree that KW3 is an overkill unless you're hitting the track a lot. I had the H&R SPC coilovers and they kept me more than happy for the streets.

V3s!!!

V3s can be set up so that they can be softer and harder than the v1s and 2s.

Was waiting for your response Terrence =) You need harder for your wheels I'm guessing at the moment and for bigger upgrades later.

I got V1's .... but if I had my time again I would have spent the same money but not in Australia and got V3's from america for the same price they sell v1's for here locally.

Yeah may as well get V3's (or similar) if you're getting a good deal on them from overseas.

Are you getting V3's Terence??

So v3 is looking like the way to go

i wonder if there going to give me a headache like they did on my brothers car took a few hours to get them installed

I have V3, but for how often the Golf sees the track I would have gone for V2.
Unless you drive like a wally on the road then you don't need the additional slow speed compression (kills body roll almost entirely) adjustment.
In my opinion you also need a shop that has experience with KW to set it up properly for you, or it may feel much, much worse than your OEM ride.
My ride quality is very close to standard GTI, but with some of the road bumps 'squared off'... body roll is n/a :P

A few hours for an install is fine. :) it takes that long at a professional shop.

very true,

have a mate who helps us out with all the suspension work has been in the buisness for nearly 30years, so should i upgrade my bushings as well from the rubber to something else while im at it

Considering there was only around $100 difference between v2 inox and v3, i may as well go v3s.

^ wow, if that is the gap - V3 all day!
Locally the gap was considerable when I made my purchase.

I didn't bother upgrading my bushings - OEM stuff has plenty of life in it. I think Polar went for the WALK on his car and seems pretty happy.

Yeah exactly!! I could have got the v2 basics for a few hundred less again, but i wanted the inox line and there was nothing in it!

The KW V3 are awesome for the street and the odd track day!! I had them in my turbo R and front them to be great even with 19inch wheels..
I now run KW clubsports with adjustable tophats for the camber..

Sounds sensible to me, I feel there's too many track focused suspension on daily GTI's, you can still have a blast on the track with something a little less focused.

Although you may loose a half second or so per lap, at least your drive home will be comfortable.

That's true, and the V3's aren't that easy to adjust back and forward all the time depending how often people go to the track - good to have something comfortable for the street too but no doubt they'd offer a lot of adjustability.

Also you can always concentrate on improving your driving instead of more mods.

there is a group buy happening on Ozaudi,

there bringin in a container, so shipping cost are all minimal plus buying from dealers direct in the states, plus with the Aus dollar preforming well cost less.

not sure who is running it, im doing this through my brother who is a member.

Sorry for the late chime-in.

I've had the KW V1's on my Alfa 147. They were amazing in comparison to the H&R progressive lowering springs (on OEM shocks) that I had in the car beforehand. I really liked them but this was my 1st coilover set-up and these days I'd never consider a coilover set-up without damper adjustment.

I've actually bought John's PSS10's but if I had my pick I'd be going for Tein Coilovers because I love and trust their products (I've run Tein coilovers on lots of cars previously).

GBJ-R32

Nice i was also looking at the Tein's but couldnt work out from where i was going to buy them or how much the cost where

$2150 is obscene. Do it.
Mine were around $3600 installed locally (from memory).

I believe the camber tops are available for v3 now... I was under the impression jonnyc had them in his ed30.
But info seems thin on the ground.

Sound system first is my suggestion, especially if it's a daily drive. You'd probably get more out of this than coils. There's less opportunity to find suitable spots for the coilovers to really make a difference, unless you track the car.

well im tossing up between the coilovers or sound system.

I purchased a MK4 Golf Sport 2.0 today, as soon as I left the dealer I drove to RYDA and bought a new Pioneer head unit, I didn't waste anytime.

So there's my answer. haha.

GBJ-R32
17-04-2010, 10:25 PM
Congrats Rocco on the buy. which head unit was it.

loll but there is 0.5% ill ever buy the coils at this price.

JohnC is going to have CROSS.

Justin, the TEIN you want would be the Euro Spec dampers on their catalog ?

anyone know the Tein part number for the R32 cant seem to find it plus the extra attachment to change the settings in side that cab

17-04-2010, 10:51 PM
I think the TEIN is a MkV generic mainly targetted for the GTI. Should be fine. Same with the CROSS.

Looks like the Teins will be too soft for my liking. John's PSS10's will be up on the market again as I'm bailing out on them and looking at KW V3's, maybe.
