Hi all, just wondering if anyone was able to offer any recommendations for the best car cruise routes in VIC? Looking to kill 7-8 hours on the weekend with some friends, preferably with some twisties and some decent chow along the way. Basically looking for the best drive VIC has to offer without getting *too* out of the way, any suggestions would be very much welcome, thanks!

or a long scenic trip (starting point Dunkeld is about 3 hours from Melbourne via Ballarat)

yeah man done them all.
Healesville, through Marysville, reefton and down to wharburton is an awesome trip.. go through marysville, past the lake mountain turn off and then engage wicked gear. the road is fairly tight.. maybe lane and a half. head up early on the weekend and you'll miss the logging trucks. the road can sometimes have a fair amount of tree debre after the fires, but that should be clearing soon.
Pakenham to Baw Baw is another tight twistie road about a lane and a half wide for the most part. this is less traffic that number 1, but you will get bikes on the road. also coming into snow season, traction (AWD helps) and tourist traffic will be a problem.
The last one is more a weekend getaway. amazing scenery all the way. the grampians are beautiful as is but again is a long trip to get there.
i forgot there is the Hotham (i think) trip. i saw the watercooled guys did a weekend at the start of the year. 3 hours to get up there, but then there is 250m round trip of mountainous roads.
