Yup it's time to move on.
I've been publicly itching to start a new project car for some time. MKI project, almost won an E36 on eBay (was outbid by $40!), have been tyre kicking a few E36 owners recently, also E39 540i owners too but I've decided that trying to play with a $5-10k car isn't going to cut it. I've thought about getting back into an MX-5 but I'd really miss the GTI's amazing mid-range power. I feel like I'm done with the GTI, GT-R too and when Justin isn't modifying cars, he's just not the same. There's also the thought of owning and maintaining 3 cars which doesn't sit right with me, so GTI's going to go.
Lots of you know the car. I've had ZERO issues with the car mechanically (only issue with the Japanese CROSS coilovers which I've replaced with top of the line KW's). Engine is perfect, DSG is perfect It just runs so strong every single day and gets crazy km's/tank every single week (way over 500/tank every time).
My build thread has every little detail. If you're serious about buying the car you'd read through it all: http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread.php?373-Justin-s-VWGolf.net.au-MKV-Project-Car
On JDMST: http://forum.jdmstyletuning.com/showthread.php?23806-VW-GOLF-MKV-GTI
On MKV FORUMS: http://golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122817
PRICE: Asking $35K. 11 months rego. The KW CLUBSPORT Coilovers alone are worth a billion dollars. ALL STOCK PARTS are included with sale (seats, bonnet, absolutely everything).
2005 model. 46,056KMS. Full log books with much more servicing than usual through TOP ONE (I like to change oil often). About 40,000kms, will confirm tomorrow.

What a car. What a buy! What a surprise.

Nooo Justin:( :( :(, I will miss this. I would have to say this MKV GTI is the best highly modified GTI in Australia. If I had the space Justin I would snap it up. What's the ball park?
Justin Fox
10-11-2011, 01:03 AM
Selling cheap as chips. Mods alone are easy $15K. You could sell the car stock, and keep mods and make money at this price but I've never ever had the patience to sell a car stock (ie: strip all parts off).

Damn. That said, look forward to your next project car. I am sure it will be some kind of euro, fit nicely into est.

Wow!!! Another one!!! What's going on!!!!!???
Good luck Justin, can wait for the new project!!
Are you parting out??
Justin Fox
10-11-2011, 10:49 PM
Not sure about parting out Marco. I know if I did I'd make more money, about $5k more, which is a lot of money to me so it might happen.
I've been offered a solid straight swap though on JDMST, for a car which is twice as fast as the GTI. Just not sure if brute speed is all I was after, but it sure is tempting!!!

Hi Justin,
Seems like your inbox is full.
Just a quick question,
Does the car have engineer certificates for all the mods? And is it easy to put back the back seats as I need to fit people in the back.
Thanks
retrokid
12-11-2011, 02:25 PM
You mean engineer's certs or the back seat?
Daneel
12-11-2011, 02:31 PM
I suspect that's a 'no, not certified, and yes, it's easy to put the seats back in'..
That's correct.. No engineers certificate and easy to re install seats.
You could also easily get an engineers certificate

The next car is not going to be a Golf guys, it's a bitter sweet kinda vibe I'm feeling right about now. I've LOVED owning this car. I've loved it from day #1 and man I've given it heaps of love, work, money, thought, blood, sweat and tears over the last 1.5+ years.
I'm not selling it because I don't love it anymore, just the opposite. I actually think its a keeper, and I could own it for many more years to come (one day it's going to be as cool as a MKI GTI) but I've got that keeper car, it's the GT-R and I can't afford to keep 2 keepers on the road so the GTI just had to go.
Yesterday I spent the driving part of my day hitting boost from 2500RPM - 4000RPM and shifting up at 4000rpm every time. Do you know what that feels like? In my GTI boost comes on at 2500RPM and it's on song at 4000, shift up and it's boosting up all over again.
1st to 2500rpm
shift.
2nd to 2500rpm
shift.
3rd to 2500rpm
shift!
Whoosh whoosh whoosh! BOOST is addictive, and this little car with it's little turbo just brings me so much joy, so responsive. It's more responsive down low than any other turbo car I've owned, EVO TME included. I'm going to miss that as the car I'll be getting next won't have the same urgency down low.

What??????? I thought you were leaning against it!!!
Man, well congrats Justin, thats good news for you!
So the hunt begins for the next project....
So spill, whats the next car!

Oh wow, I'm sad to see the car go, but congratulations on the sale. Really, really glad I managed to squeeze in a ride on the circuit with you - that was a really fun couple of laps, you're a good driver JF, a lot better than most :)
Looking forward to the next project car, I know it will be just as special :)

+1
It gave me a good insight into how well a tuned car with bias to suspension mods handles and feels in the hands of an experienced track driver.
Whatever is coming will no doubt be another great build.

Congrats on the sale! Was a BARGAIN considering how well it was taken care of + all the mods.....
But damn, will your next car even be a VAG? :(
Justin Fox
22-11-2011, 02:38 PM
Cheers guys! Unfortunately no, the next car isn't going to be VAG. I'm going back to JDM (never thought I'd be able to after the lovely Golf interior!!!). I'll be sure to park my monstrosity out of sight at future VWG meets kekekeke. :)

The guy selling that nsx claims those photo's are from motor magazine.. And also that it's a rare 5 speed Manuel. But in one of those photo's you can clearly see it's of an auto?
Fail or??

If you have a closer look in this enlarged image you'll see that it is in fact a picture of a manual gearshift, but as it has very narrow gate it could be mistaken for an auto in the original pic :)
