New Canberra VW R32 owner

Hi Guys,

Picked up my new Blue 2006 (MY07) 5dr R32 DSG the other day. Stock as rock at the moment, but judging by my last cars, it won't stay like that long.

I'm in Canberra as the title states, and found VWGolf.net.au through G-Rig.

So far, I am just keen to get the stereo sorted out as the standard one is terrible. Hopefully going the RNS-510 route (needing the canbus gateway upgrade most likely, so will order one for sure).

GBJ-R32, hopefully I can get in on the RNS510 groupbuy with illektronik. I have some great suggestions on stereo upgrade from G-Rig too which will run me up an easy $8k me thinks (ouch).

Thanks SUGA, I am VERY addicted to the sound of the exhaust, the first thing i did was buy a g-clamp for that vacuum hose on the exhaust for the noise to come just that little bit earlier, absolutely love the sound. It is one of the main reasons I chose it over the GTI.

I agree the stock stereo is crap in the R32 bur should be able to get away with it a bit cheaper than that.

Good thing is you can take a the hifi gear to each car so not as expensive as it sounds and makes a huge difference if you love music.

I'm addicted to my music G-Rig, ranging from 60's right up to dance, hip hop, pop etc. Main faves usually focus around the 80's though.

I've had my old stereo gear for about 6 years now and its treated me well but its definetly time to upgrade. I should be able to get it cheaper than that, yes, I just based it all on RRP prices that I could find.

I will be sending an email to FHRX Studios to see if they can do the entire thing (including installing the RNS510/CanBus gateway and the stereo), except being in Canberra, will be an interesting trip.
