Hi guys
Just after some assistance if I may as I need to find out what version Canbus I have in my MY07 as I am retrofitting the RNS510 to my MK GTI and dont want the battery drain issue to occur otherwise I will have to replace it with a later version.
Is there anyone who can possibly help me in the southern Sydney area with VAGCOM/VCDS to save me going back to the dealer, or should the dealer have the version on their system attached to my car.
Appreciate any help you guys can provide me with or point me in the right direction.
Regards
Cameron
Hey Cam,
I'll be in Wollongong on Saturday morning/lunchtime if you were going to be down this way. I could do it for you then.
I haven't got any plans to be up your way unfortunately. Otherwise I'd help you out straight away.
Hopefully someone around your area will volunteer, the whole process takes at most 2 mins to find out.

Hey cam,
May take you up on that offer will keep you posted as the gong is only a 45min run for me.
Would the delaer have the info against my car on their system or is it something they physically would need to check.
Many thanks
Cameron
PS I will be speaking to Nick tomorrow at some stage and will mention you may call him. I just dont think checking the Canbus version is something the delaer will just fit me in for no matter how long it takes.
No worries at all. If you do, just flick me a PM and I'll give you my mobile number.
:)
Its not the sort of thing they would have on record. Doubt whether the dealer management system would go into that much detail.
Thanks! Thats greatly appreciated mate!
Its hard to say I suppose, if you pop in at a time when they aren't flat out they might be able to squeeze you in. Its literally just a matter of plugging the cable in, turning the ignition on, opening vagcom, going to the canbus module and reading the product number. No time at all really.

LOL @ this thread. Cam. >D
Hey cam, would it be okay if you had a look at my jetta too? I've had the RNS unit for about over a month now and since I use the car daily, i dont know whether there is battery drain (i dont think so....) but would it be okay when you are in sydney on saturday if u can check?
if any of you are planning on going to KK at mascot tonight i usually have the vagcom in the car so happy to let you guy use it
Hey Stephen,
I'll be in Wollongong on Sat, not Sydney
:p
But if you're down this way that would be no problem at all.
r207's offer will be more feasible seeing as its reasonably central up near the airport.
