Hey guys,

Yet another nooby question! My car is getting parted out fairly quickly, and i'm really wanting to hold onto a few parts. Before I take deposits on certain parts, I just want to figure out what parts I can use from my current car, and just have a few questions for you guys.

1) I've been trying to find pictures of what colour the dash lights are on a MKV GTI, but can't find any! If anyone has any, can they post them up?
I currently have Defi gauges in my DC2R. Are any defi gauges an exact match in colour to the dash lights on a MKV GTI? If this is the case, i'll keep the controller unit, and buy the appropriate colour, and sell my current green gauges.
Also, just wanting to know what Euro branded gauges are there out there? I'd want a Defi equivilant, so the best Euro gauge on the market. I'll just have a boost gauge. Where is the best mounting spot, and what size would I be wanting (52mm or 60mm, or other?)?

2) Does anyone use a grounding kit on their Golf's? A proper grounding kit made a massive difference to my DC2R in terms of response, idle, light brightness and stability, and sound system quality. I'll be running a good sound system in the Golf aswell, and was wondering if I should hang onto me rare Tako grounding kit?

Sorry for asking silly questions, just in a rush for answers before I sell these parts.

Thanks!

Ricki.

Defi is a great reputable gauge and they also have a market for the MKV GTI usually along side with the osir gauge holder. It won't be an exact match thou. I purchased the AWE gauge because the description said it was an exact match but i found the gauge to be brighter (look at my thread at the gauge review). But if i remember correctly, the eurojet gauge is a close match to the dash. Also a popular mounting position is the driver side air-con vent.

no clue about 2) so hope my input helps >D

Rix the grounding kit can't hurt a Golf (or any car). The gauges I am getting are 52mm:

You can use 60mm:

PS: Dash lights up blue in the GTI.

A BLUE Defi would look AWESOME! So that OSIR aircon thingo, replaces the entiire vent with a pod holder thing, and that holds a 60mm gauge? Am I seeing that correctly? Does it have holes in it for air to still come out of?
I have my 52mm defi's mounted on the top of the dash like your above pic in the DC2R. I want to do this car, very very different. A few nice parts, but all clean and stealth - like a Euro car should be.

Reason I asked about the grounding kit, is because a friend has a Audi A3 S-Line, and he told me that the electronics are very very fiddly and if you do anything it can break things. I dont't think the grounding kit could hurt, but was wondering if anyone has used one and has any issues at all with the MKV.

Thanks guys... very helpful, looks like i'll be holding onto the Controller Unit, and i'll most likely hold onto the Tako grounding kit.

Whilst on topic of asking dumb questions...

Where do you get R32 rear lights from, and how much are they on average? I can imagine getting them new from VW would be very exxy?

Got mine from www.TMTuning.com if you are talking about the R32 OEM LED's. Note that you should swap over the fog light lense if you do get them as they are Euro spec and on the wrong side.

OEM R32 ones are available from dealer for about $600 from memory.

OEM R32, $600... that's not too bad at all!
Thanks.

Here's my 52mm Defi + OSIR Pod, during the day (full brightness) and at night (dimmed). Taken with iPhone so excuse the quality :P

or you can get the rhd versions from them and you won't have to do a thing, apart from installing. :D

its a 60mm one which fills up the whole OSIR gauge monopod space

i reckon its better than the 52mm on the OSIR monopod
