Hi all,
my front brakes have started shuttering through the pedal and the mechanic said it was something to do with the front rotors needing to be replaced or machined.
so instead of getting him to do it, me and my brother (who has some experience in replacing rotors) are going to replace them.
just need some help on the info of the front rotors on my 97 mk3 GL, such as is it a 1 or 2 piece, diameter and suggested ways of going about it and what brands.
thanks for your help
Hi Phillip
I'm not entirely sure on the specs of the MK3 rotors, but you might be interested to have a look at the links listed below for some ideas.
You can get decent rotor/pad combos all in one bundle. You would probably be better off doing them both at the same time anyway (and possibly even a brake fluid flush as well)
Take a look at this thread on VWVortex, it has a few good sales. Its US based, but quite cheap. One of the sponsors would probably be able to answer some of the tech specs.

They even have an ebay shop

Another forum member recently had a good experience with GSL up in QLD. Might be worth giving them a buzz and having a chat to see what they can offer.

In any case, it shouldn't be an overly expensive job to source decent rotors and pads.
:)

thanks for all the info and help cam,
I checked out the site but its gonna be around $250 for shipping :( and seeing as i'm from vic, i assume round $100 or so from qld.
I managed to find out the oem brakes are 256mm by 20mm so looks like i'm going to have to source them locally but should work out okay :)
