Had the chance to detail this 1965 Mercedes SL230 Convertible over the last few days and nights.

The car was left at a Merc dealership for repairs and they left it out in the rain over the easter long weekend which resulted in water spots and some etching in the paint

This was how I received it.

Dave that is stunning! What a great job. I'm sure the owner would have been very pleased.
:)

On the topic of dealers and car washing...I washed mine and gave it a coat of meguiars on Sunday. Car was absolutely spotless (minus the few paint swirls which I will get done someday...lol)
Car went in on Tuesday still very clean, when I got it back the dealer had run a dirty chamois over it and left it all streaky with crap on the windows and paint. I couldn't believe it.

wow awesome work, and awesome car!!!

I wouldn't mind getting my car detailed like that!!! Was that the "ultimate detail"?

I hate going to local car washes, they do such a bad job.

The westfield one slightly better, but still for what they are charging, it is not great.

Yeah its a common occurrence with dealerships as most places think they're doing you a favour by giving your car a complementary wash at service time.
All they do is run it through their car wash and BAM! There goes all your hard work.

The Holden dealership I use to work at (as a salesman) use to do this

Na, not Ultimate detail.
It was more of a custom one which involved a full detail + Stage 2 polish and other little bits here and there.

Looks very nice Dave. I remember reading about the SL pagodas being voted most beautiful car in a few polls. They have become so expensive over the last few years.

This was done a while back.

The owner purchased it for his wife as a mothers day present and wanted it detailed so its all nice and schmick when he gives it to his wife.

The car got a Deluxe Detail (http://reflecteffect.com.au/services.php?serv=detailing) with a bit more attention to the paint.
