I've currently got the Parrot bluetooth kit my RCD500 however I'm upgrading to an RNS510 and would like to know if the bluetooth will still work with no modifications.

I do remember being told that if was were to upgrade to the RCD510 (non nav unit) that the pin for the Mute function was located different to the RCD500.

I have also called and asked the carkit company which claim that the ISO cable used on my model should be no different to that for the RNS510 judging by what they use.

Cheers,

Hash

I'm actually curious on this myself Hash. Will be getting one of the RNS 510s from illektronik's group buy and I have a Parrot Bluetooth installed currently too (execpt on an MFD2). I was under the impression these might have been a standard fit for MkV's??

On my iPhone it shows up as 'Parrot v5.10C'

Hi Hash,

I installed the Parrot CK3000 kit in my GTI. I had it previously installed in my MKV Comfortline when I had it working with an MFD2.
It works fine with the RNS510.

Mine may be slightly different to your setup however, I've got a quick connect harness which I purchased to integrate with the steering wheel controls. Some more info and pics here:

The harness plugs into the cars wiring loom and then the harness plugs into the RNS510. From the harness there are two plugs which then go down to the blue parrot box.
Mine shows up at Parrot v5.10C' also on my iPhone.

With regards to muting all of my buttons work fine on the steering wheels. With the RNS510 when you click the mute button it pauses the track for you.

Cam Sorry for the late reply,

Looks like I may just opt for the RCD510 hopefully that is the same as the RNS510 in terms of compatability with the Parrot Bluetooth.

I must also have the quick connect harness as my steering wheel controls are able to answer and hang up calls and mine also shows up as Parrot v5.10C.

Does anyone know whether the MFD2 and RCD500 had similar pin configuration ??

MFD2 & RCD500 have similar pins - I swapped to a MFD2 from a RCD500 & my iPod kit & bluetooth worked perfectly. Now to see whether they work on the RNS510......

how did this end up going? I have the same current setup and looking to do the same change 500 to 510. I've read it should be upgrade the CAN gateway if needed, and swap a mute wire and then any coding as required.

Yep - works perfectly on the RNS510. Did have to swap the mute wire for the bluetooth however as mentioned previously. Can't recall if I had to change the audio in/out wires to but if I did it was dead easy. I had to do the CAN gateway upgrade & then the relatively simple coding changes. The bluetooth works perfectly with my iPhone4. My previous Nokia had quite a bit of static noise/hiss but the iPhone is crystal clear.
