ECU number and chip

Hi all, I have a 2.0 8v and was wondering where I could find the ecu number? I've taken off the scuttle cover and found the ecu but can't find the Bosch sticker with the number on it on top and don't really want to take the ecu off unless it is necessary. Also I was looking into getting an ecu chip just to give the car a bit more and was wondering if anyone has opinions on them.

The ECU may be from Siemens, not Bosch. For 2L GL, ECU no. is 037 906 025A.

If you have VAGCOM scan tool, ECU no will be displayed upon scanning.
