Anyone have any knowledge to how much and how long it would take to replace the stock valve springs? I researched a few different forums without any definite answers. Thanks!

Why?
Are your valve springs damaged and you need to replace? or,
Are you installing bigger cams? or,
You've just uprated your engine output and increased the rev limit and your current valve springs cannot cope?
otherwise, how much depends on where you do, how long depends on who you go to. Some places may elect to take the head off, others, may only need to pull off the cams and make the replacement.
For the latter, its probably a couple of hours job.

I am just looking into some solutions to my misfires and i have read in the UK forums that many later 08+ and 09 k04 engines suffer from having softer springs (painted yellow/white) which cause misfires whilst those with the painted blue/yellow springs are the correct springs. It is a common issue once tuned. I will most likely get it done through Arthur my mechanic but just wanting to see how much the damage would be (money wise).

hahah i was hoping not, but can't find any other thing being the issue. Another big cause of misfires for my engine is the stock downpipe but i have already upgraded that. I will get my coilpacks and sparkplugs replaced as a precaution but still pretty sure these aren't the issue either. I'll have a chat with my mechanic and Lucas tomorrow hrmmmmm....
have you had any luck getting a hold of a copy of the TSB in regards to this? I did some digging and only come up with the number TSB 2019062/1

nope apparently theres no TSB and its just a blog update. But after googling TSB 2019062/1, i came across this thread where they were able to get the correct springs installed:

I am not sure how i will go about this, i am pretty sure most VW service centres will void warranty seeing how i am modified but otherwise i'll have to go through my mechanic. Do you think it is worth just going through a VW service centre and trying my luck?
I think it would be interesting to see if that TSB actually refers to a related issue. But yeah its a pain in the arse situation if its the case.
Problem with TSBs is that they arent actual recalls. They are just "if you see this problem check this". And none of the pirellis have a problem when they are stock. Only when tuned.

true... i might just bite the bullet and bring it my VW mechanic and tell them about the TSB. I'll talk with Lucas, Arthur and i'll call a few VW service centres tomorrow to tell them about my issue and see if my claim will hold up under warranty
Yeah.. As i said though im not certain the TSB is the right one. Tread carefully!

its a safety recall for Audis but seems like its the same valve but not entirely sure. I will try to talk to the service centres about it without actually giving my rego or vin number so hopefully i can sus around abit hahah
nah thats completely different.
That one will cause your car to explode. Not to misfire. :D
The issue is reported to be with the incorrect exhaust valve springs being fitted which results in valve float.

talked to my mechanic this morning and ill be getting my new dv put in as well as colder spark plugs put in. Pretty sure this won't really do anything, but the dv will hopefully help with my hesitation/stutter problem. I asked if i should go through VW in regards to the spring issue but he is pretty confident they won't go ahead because of my mods. It's a job he can do so if need be that will be my final resort but he's doing some research to see what else it could be hmmmmm
i did some of my own research last night and found out that REVO and APR have gotten around this issue by slightly reducing boost levels in the 6000-6500rpm region but this does not solve the issue with the weaker springs. I'd rather fix the problem completely then go around it thou

i called a few VW service centres and told them about my situation (not revealing my rego of course) and about the overseas TSBs and got the same response saying that modifying the ECU voids the engine warranty. Five Dock was pretty knowledgable and he said he drove his GTI flashed as well whilst another dealer was baffled with how technical i got about the issue that she didn't really know how to reply. Looks like i'm going through my mechanic
