Hi guys,

After a fairly good google search to no avail I thought I'd ask the experts: does anyone have or can tell me where I can find a 2006 MKV GTI ECU wiring diagram? It's for the HUD that I'll be receiving soon that I've been advised connects through the ECU-my install guy wants a diagram.

So if anyone can put me in the right direction it'd be greatly appreciated and should really help with the install.

Cheers,

Can the HUD work with Canbus?

That would probably be a bit easier than messing with the Bosch box.

You would have a BOSCH MED9 ECU in your car I believe.
MED17 was the 1.4 TSI and the newer cars (working off memory)

but hopefully model numbers help you search!

Hi Tinto,

Thanks for your reply mate. The instalation details are sketchy at present as I am awaiting the arrival of the product and they cannot seem to be able to scan and email me one as their scanner is down???

The info I have from them is this:

Ground

Power

Speed Signal through ECU

RPM through ECU

Temp through sensor cord supplied. I am assuming that means it's not plug n play? From his instructions does it sound like it could go thru canbus?

Anymore info would be a great help-like what is the Bosch box? Lol-I know nothing

Thanks mate

Any luck with your HUD install?

For a F1 flavour, before your big race today? ;)

I couldn't find a F1 RBR HUD, so this Cadillac STS one will have to do, for now...

Easy tap for speed might be from headdeck wiring as some do have a speed wire for nav units. Other wise a can bus apt would do the trick

haha that's great Bizi! That has sat nav too, damn.

Yeh it arrived last week but my intsall guy has been busy. I have him booked for this Wednesday-not sure if i'll br able to set the temp sensor as it requires another part called a "T sensor"-anyone know where to get one for a mkv gti lol? They dont supply them as all cars are different not sure If Ill have it by Wednesday unless the install guy can find one-aparetly you attach the three pin water sensor cable to the "T sensor". Anyway that screen would be temp and battery voltage but I really haven't bought it for that, just speed and rpm so if not possible no big deal. The set up of it requires driving of the vehicle and setting buttons at vehicle speed
ie so at 40kmh press button twice etc-Bizi or anyone else should I do think I should do this on cruise control for a perfect reading what do you think?

Anyways I really hope it's going to be accurate and that the intsall isn't gonna be too painful as in my guy can't work it out. Positive thought sit should all be good. As soon as it's upi and working I'll whck some video on.

Cheers Bizi

Thanks heaps Ramesh, I'll speak to my install guy and let him know ur information. I searched for more than 15 hours looking for ecu diagram-nada nothing neyt! He's been really pushing for a diagram as well but no cigar. Can you please clarify what a can bus apt is? I know what the can bus but not the apt-also can you check my post to Bizi there's some question in there too.

Thanks heaps mate,

I'm guessing he meant a Can Bus Adapter - something like these:

Thanks man, I'm hoping we don't need one but ya never know with these installs-thanks heaps for the link Tinto as it may come in very handy. I dont understand why if it connecst to speed pulse etc why I have to proofread the engine and rpm speed by driving at 40 km-set, then 90 km-set; any ideas guys? The word proofread is used in their instructions.

Hi Doug

good to talk with u again. Thanks for ur very kind offer but my install guy is coming out tomorrow so probably not enough time unfortunately. However if he can't work it out that would be great to borrow the manual thank u!

Wishing you (aka your installer and the replies you've recieved, to pass onto him) the best of success in getting this set up to your satisfaction.

The picture was the best I could get googling HUD (I was trying to find you a RB06 HUD! :p). It is from a Cadillac STS; I think you would see that from the URL.

Cheers,
Ben
