Hi all,
I was driving last night when a big spider decided to walk across my windscreeen and towards the driver side.
I hate spiders, I need to find a way to get rid of it? Any ideas? It's extra weight that I can without ( ok I was trying to be funny there)
Thanks heaps
Did you do a little poo? I can imagine your surprise!
I'd be looking to see if there are any webs in crevices, just in case you get a family outing of spiders next time. IS your garage well pest-controlled?

THAT IS MY WORST FEAR!! ... I would of shat myself, left the car in the middle of the road and run out. I'd do it, i hate spiders.
Man I hate spiders!! I was driving on parramatta road many many years ago in traffic!! I put my sun visor down and this massive spider landed on the steering wheel.. I shit my pants slammed on the brakes ran up the medium strip and jumped out of the car like a big girl!!
Man they aren't big compared to us but the freak me out!! Hahaha

I bad memories of spiders since I was a kid.... so I can relate....
Maybe park in the garage... open all the windows in the car. Buy two to three pest bombs from the supermarket and bomb the garage...

I had something tickling my neck one time and I went to scratch my neck and a huge farking wasp flew off my neck and landed on the drivers side electric window switches. I was in traffic on Victoria Road and freaking out like a little girl but I stopped the car and somehow managed to flick the thing out of the window!

I had one in my golf a while ago.. it seemed to disappear after the liberal use of bug spray throughout the car...
smelt bad for a while though

I'm going to have to check my sun visors now, eekk
worst thread ever.
HOLY CRAP, I know what mean mate.
At our old house (moved about 2 months ago) I regularly used to get huntsmans on my car. Sometimes at night I'd come out and see them sitting on the windows or hatch.
A couple of times I've been driving and one has crawled across the windscreen. On one occassion I actually pulled over on the highway in peak traffic, got out of the car, took my shoe off, hopped around to the other side and got it off.
ARGH I hate spiders.
To answer your question, the best way is to get a spray can of mortein or something and spray underneath the guards, underneath the car, inside the mirror housings etc. It should bring him out.
The second best way, is to find a really windy road and have some fun around the twisties haha

When I was a kid, our house had an outdoor dunny. Redbacks were an all too frequent hazard.

You know, they're more afraid of you than you are of them.

I was thinking of selling the car but that would have not been wise just due to a spider. I was lucky I was on the phone at the time so I could nor freak out to much. The car is normaly parked next to our apartment block or just infront of on the street. I think the insect bomb might be the way to go. I was thinking of tricking it out with cheese but someone thought maybe a fly.

I'm not ashamed of admitting I don't like spiders haha.
When I had them on my previous Golf it started off with 2 medium sized huntsmans, then a BIG friggin hairy one I must assume that was the mother crawled across the bonnet. Was the size of a large hand. Fark it still gives me the shivers.
I was 15mins late for work on that day too lol.

I've got a hugh one living somewhere on the car at the moment, only seams to come out when I'm driving and it always crawls across the windscreen, scares the fuck out of me, lol.
On good friday I took my car out for a quick drive and had 2 bees fly out at me from the air con, it was lucky I wasn't going fast, I just pulled over opened the doors and stood away until they flew out.
I'd be more scared of wasps (and their continuing attacks) than spiders.

Ramesh, your thread title is almost alking how to get spiders into your GTI! Adding one 'f' then makes it look like you are trying to show the spiders a really good time. :p

ROFL @ this thread.
I hate spiders too. If I'd ever see one in the car, I'll be hunting it until its down & out.
You need to be comfortable and at peace when your driving.
Nothing under my visors!! ;)
This reminds me of the time when a huntsman spider (the size of my palm) crawled across the inside of my windscreen while I was driving up a mountain pass at midnight (on the drive down to Sydney from Brissie).
Not a good situation to be in when your front seat passenger (female) screams at the top of her lungs while you are overtaking an 18 wheeler (at high speed) and you look up to see a large spider crawling inches from your head.
Managed to pull to the side of the road somewhere near the summit and as much as we tried, we could not find it again. My friend could not get to sleep for the rest of the trip.
I had a couple of much smaller arachnids take residence in the side mirror housings of the same car a few years later but I never encountered that huntsman again - my friend's scream must have done the trick.
VWGolf sponsors or some travelling forum members should keep an eye out for insect spray/bomb mods to sell here. :)
Imagine something which sits near/under the dashboard to keep spiders away.
[I agree that side mirrors are a likely nesting place; at least where I live]

Not cool at all.
Just checked under sun visor, bit hard to do with a broomstick and it was not there. Haven,t seen the spider since but I have a feeling he is there somewhere.
I guess the upshot of all this, is that the spider has good taste in cars by picking the GTi to live in. Maybe VW should add this to the marking campain. " the golf GTi..... Home of the big spiders that want to go fast"
