    Mk3 2l hard changing into 2nd

    Hey guys,
I have a MK3 2 litre with 5 speed. Every gear is fine to change into except
for 2nd. It does not crunch or anything, it just seems that it will not let you
engage into 2nd until the revs drop to around 1500. Any ideas and suggestions
on how i could fix this?

    Thanks

Could be worn bushings? Bushing replacement kits are cheap and relatively easy to fit - http://www.veedubmachine.co.uk/index...roducts_id=130

I bought the same kit and only replaced the bits in the engine bay, couldn't be bothered dropping the exhaust and changing the shifter ball right under the shift knob. Combined with a short shifter linkage, it had very little play left and gear changing was stiff but precise.

Or spend a few extra bucks and purchase USRT Shift Linkage Kit. Replaces all the plastic parts with better metal parts, and a much nicer looking weighted shifter. I also would recommend adding redline to your trans that will reduce the wear and can free up some problems.
Or other thing that it could be is Syncro going between 1st and 2nd.
